“Brigadier Yu, General Yu and Field Marshal Zuan asked for you in the base now.” Hearing the instruction, Yu Ran walked to the secret base room in the Capital City’s underground.

He standing straight to the both of man in front of him. Salute to the both of them, he keep his voice firm.

“Sir, Brigadier Yu reporting.”

“At ease.” General Yu Ren turned his body and look at his son. Field Marshal Zuan who also in the room just silently sit at his chair.

Yu Ren take out the envelope from his desk and handed to his son.

“This is your mission. Death is not allowed. You have only 36 months to finish this mission.” his voice was firm and loud.

“Yes Sir.” he took the envelope and walk out from the room.

He open the envelope and check the details. He frowned his eyebrow.

Two month after, somewhere in Imperial City underground pub Yu Ran was drinking his beer when he saw someone suddenly push a young women to the ground.

The drunken woman tried to release herself from the man but the man’s body was so big that she could hardly breathe.

All the people around them seem like ignoring her situation. She almost cried out loud.

Seeing her pitiful faces, Yu Ran could only sigh before he stand up from his chair and walk toward the big man.

Without saying anything, he kick the man’s body to the side and help the woman stand up again.

“You..you..you wanna die?” the big man shout with his stinking breath.

The man have been coughing blood from his mouth before he collapse.

Zhi Ann was really shocked by what she sees. Yu Ran on the other hand already walk outside the pub and start his motorbike.

Zhi Ann hurriedly run to him and give him a direction to her house if he want some reward for saving her that night.

After a week, he come to her house and asking to be her bodyguard. Zhi Ann was totally joyed after that. She never thought that she will meet again with Yu Ran.

She asked her father Zhi Long to approved Yu Ran as her bodyguard. Since Zhi Ann is his last daughter he could only said yes to her request.

Yu Ran was adopted to the Zhi’s group and became Zhi Ann’s bodyguard.

A month after he’s been hired as the bodyguard, Zhi Ann told him that her sister will be back from abroad.

Her sister is Zhi Ling and she is not someone like Zhi Ann, who is looked like a princess. She is different and she also has her own bodyguard.

And her bodyguard is known with the name of Grim Reaper. He has been guarding Zhi Ling since they were kids.

There’s a rumor saying that the both of them are lover but no one dared enough to ask them.

One night, Yu Ran was guarding the post at behind the mansion. When he was walking near the tree he saw a woman figure try to sneak out from the window.

She jumped from the window to the tree. Unluckily, her shoes slip and she was fall down from the tree and straight landing on Yu Ran.

“Ouch!” Zhi Ling cried.

Yu Ran closed his eyes and want to shove the load on his face using his hand but suddenly he touch something soft.

‘Eh? What is this? Why it’s so soft?’ he thought while squeeze the bottom of Zhi Ling.

Zhi Ling was so shocked by the sudden movement from the ‘thing’ that she landed on before jolt her body a little.

Feeling his hand squeezed her butt, she used her strength to choke his neck.

Yu Ran open his eyes when suddenly the load move and even try to choke him.

“Ow ow ow.. do you want to kill me?” he asked.

“Who said you can grab my butt?” Zhi Ling ask furiously.

“Bu..Butt?” he asked again.

Feeling ashamed, she release her hand and pat her jeans.

She cover her face using a cap and start walking to leave Yu Ran alone.

But before she could walk far from Yu Ran, he said to her again.

“That is not the way. If you want to sneak out, you should go to this way.” he shows the right way to Zhi Ling.

Stop her pace she return to the other way. “Shut up!” she said before she running to the right way.

That is their first meeting.

The second meeting is when the Zhi’s group gather at the hall discussing about the black market matter and all other things that is ruled underworld organization.

Zhi Ann walk to the hall with Yu Ran behind her. Not long after, her sister Zhi Ling also walk into the hall with Grim Reaper.

The Grim Reaper’s face is covered with a weird mask that he wearing. With a full black suit from the top to toe he could give a people chill under down the spine.

His killing aura could make one shivered.

Upon seeing Yu Ran’s face Zhi Ling gasp and hide her face right away.

Yu Ran on other hand already smirking looking at her cute reaction. That night he didn’t noticed her face because she was wearing a cap.

When suddenly she covered her face and hide from the crowded to make sure that he didn’t spot her, doesn’t that mean she is exposing herself?

“What’s wrong?” Grim Reaper asked her.

“Eh? Uh.. nothing.” she smile at him and turned her body back.

When she turned her body, Zhi Ann already spot her and call her name loudly.

“Sis Ling! Sis Ling!” she run to her sister.

Yu Ran just follow her from behind.

“Sis Ling, this is my bodyguard. Yu Ran.” she introduced him to her sister.

“Ma’am.” he bowed his head a little.

Seeing Yu Ran’s action she smile awkwardly.

“I am Zhi Ling. This is my shadow. Grim Reaper.”

Grim reaper just nodded his head before he bring Zhi Ling to other area.

What he can say is Grim Reaper is really taking care of Zhi Ling and very protective over her.

After a few days, they met again at the tree behind the mansion.

Zhi Ling tried to jump from the tree to the fence wall. Yu Ran was there and watch her action silently before he approach her again.

“Sneak out again?” he asked from Zhi Ling’s back.

She jolt her body because of shocked. She turned her head and looked at the man.

“Eh? Of course no.. I was try to finding my..my..” she looked around her looking for something.

Suddenly she get an idea. She throw her cap to him and run to the secret pathways.

Yu Ran was a bit shocked when suddenly her cap came flying to his face. He catch the cap and just smiling to the figure who already run away from him.

Noticing that Grim Reaper was not with her, he decide to follow her from a far.

All that he can see from following her was, she enjoyed her night time strolling in the city with a disguise. She often go to the park and play her violin.

She will go back to the mansion after 2 AM. That is her limit time before Grim Reaper go and check on her in her bedroom every day.

After a month he follow her every day, Zhi Ling already aware of her ‘night shadow’.

“Why are you following me?” Zhi Ling ask when they arrived at the quiet alley.

Noticing that his cover already been busted, he step out from behind the tree.

“So, you know that I was following you?”

“Duh!! Who stupid enough following me just with a 2 meter distance?” she rolled her eyes.

“Oh? Did I was too close with you?” he said nonchalantly.

“Mhm. What did you get by following me? Didn’t you get bored? It’s been a month you keep following me.” she cross her arms and looked at the man in front of her.

“No. It’s quite fun sneaking out with you. I never go to the city in the midnight.”

“Oh yeah? Will you report it to my dad?” she asked again. Even she knew that he never report anything about her sneaking out from the mansion every night, but still she want a confirmation with the man.

“Why would I?”

“Hm. If that the case, don’t hide behind me again. If you want to go out strolling in the city, go out by yourself. Don’t follow me.”

“That can’t do. What if something happen to you?”

“I can take care of myself.”

“No, you can’t.”

“Huh? And why is that?”

“Because you’re a girl. And you were always protected by Grim. There is no way you can survive if someone not guarding you.”

“And.. you also a target to many people that against your father’s organization. So you think you can survive?”

She fell silent. It’s true. Zhi Long’s daughters is a target to many villain people. Because Zhi Long’s weakness is his daughters.

After a moment of silence she decide to let him do what he want. After all, he never tried to do anything weird towards her.

“Suit yourself. No need to hide behind me. You can just walk beside me like a normal people do.”
