100 years before Divorce - Chapter 237
“Why should I trust you,” Xia Sha raised her eyebrow to Xiao Ni.
Xiao Ni let out a sarcastic sighed as she rolls her eyes at Xia Sha.
“The fact that I didn’t oppose my brother’s relationship with you, even though you are my mortal enemy, shows how objective I am as a human being,” Xiao Ni boasted. Her chest rose high as she poses like a face cover model exaggeratedly.
“Very well, Mrs. Wang is wise,” Xia Sha makes her voice high as she pretended to be a maid of the empress. She rose from her seat and elegantly raised her slender hand and slightly bow to Xiao Ni.
The two of them were chuckling when suddenly a child-like voice make a rude comment, “Grown-ups are silly.”
The silence filled the spacious living room for a while before Xia Sha moves her gaze to a cute creature on the couch. She didn’t remember seeing that little boy wearing a blue shirt before. However, that boy’s face left an imprint on Xia Sha’s mind immediately.
“Little fatty! It’s not polite to eavesdrop on adult’s conversation,” Xiao Ni frowned at the little boy. However, instead of scaring the little kid, Xiao Ni looks terrified herself.
“You didn’t hear something inappropriate, don’t you?” Xiao Ni added, looking at the little boy like an investigator.
“Aunty, please, I’m not that presumptuous. It’s only a silly conversation anyway. Why should I care?” The little boy answer smugly, looking at Xia Sha and Xiao Ni back and forth as if they were pair of absurd kids.
Xiao Ni and Xia Sha: “…”
“Don’t mind this kid. He hangs out with Wang Kai before he heads back to the office. Little fatty probably got ‘inspired’ by Wang Kai again,” Xiao Ni secretly whisper to Xia Sha.
Xia Sha nodded her head and looked at the little fatty with a friendly face, “Little boy, do you remember me?”
“Of course I remember you. You are my uncle’s wife,” Litte fatty answer without a pause. He looks at Xia Sha flatly.
Xia Sha was speechless upon hearing his answer. She felt the temperature rising on her cheek although she tried to stop smiling wider.
“Very well, I also remember you,” Xia Sha murmured awkwardly, turning to Xiao Ni for an aide.
“I knew you do. After all, I played a significant role in aunty and uncle’s relationship,” The little fatty frowned, furrowing his eyebrow at Xia Sha as he answers.
“You look angry. What happens to you?” Xiao Ni ruffled little fatty’s hair.
“I’m fine, aunty Xiao Ni. I’m a grown-up man. I could handle my problem alone,” Little fatty answer without breaking cold eye contact with Xia Sha.
Xia Sha began to feel that this little fellow had a problem with her.
“…”
What had she done? Xia Sha got confused. She barely talks to him, but he looks at Xia Sha as if they were nemesis.
Feeling uncomfortable, Xia Sha decided to take a closer approach to the little boy, “Little fatty, do you want to talk to me alone? You seem like you had something to say.”
Little fatty looks tempted, although hesitation was written clear on his cute face. However, it doesn’t take a long moment of silence before he jumped from the couch with his little feet and hides his hand on the back like a wise man.
“Follow me to my private space,” the little boy ordered arrogantly, raising disapproving looks from Xiao Ni.
“Very well, but you are going to have an eye-to-eye meeting with me after this,” Xiao Ni announced, glaring at little fatty with his big eyes, which he ignored.
Xiao Ni’s face was distorted with a frown as little fatty hold Xia Sha’s hand and pull her to his ‘private place.’
Xia Sha raised her eyebrow to Xiao Ni, wanting to know what’s wrong with her nephew. But apparently, Xiao Ni had no answer but shrugging her shoulder.
She is as clueless as Xia Sha is.
Little fatty’s private place turns out to be his playing room that Mother Guan prepared for him every time he visits Capital City. The little boy looks relentless as he pulls his tiny chair and asked Xia Sha to sit in front of him.
“Aunty, I have a serious problem, and I need your help! But please don’t tell aunty Xiao Ni or anyone else about this, please!”
The cold facial he holds before disappear as he gently slaps his chubby cheeks in horror. The arrogance and high profile aura he tried to emits before the turn into a funny comedy-drama. Xia Sha wanted to laugh that instant, but watching how panicked little fatty looks right now, she decided to hold her laughter.
“Aunty, Don’t laugh!” Hu Che frowned. But this time, rather than looking furious, he seems sad.
The sudden changes make Xia Sha’s cheek muscle froze. She took a closer distance to Hu Che by dragging the short chair. Putting her ear, Xia Sha is ready to hear Hu Che’s story.
Hu Che took a deep breath before he opens his mouth. Subconsciously, Xia Sha does the same as she waited for him to open up.
“Aunty, why do people get a divorce? They got married because they love each other, then, why do they want to separate ways?”
Hu Che’s question got Xia Sha stunned as she looks straight at Hu Che’s innocent eyes. She blinks a few times while trying to get rid of a lump in her throat. There was a short moment of silence before Xia Sha’s brain arranges her words.
“Well, I don’t think there is a correct answer to your question. People and feelings were complicated,” Xia Sha said slowly, trying to explain without hurting Hu Che’s heart.
“But, weren’t love supposed to be simple? When we love someone, we don’t want to hurt them. If we never hurt and make each other happy all the time, why do they want to separate still?”
Xia Sha froze in her seats after hearing Hu Che’s words. She felt her heart shiver as Hu Che’s eyes breakthrough her past with nothing but innocent and curiosity.
“Well, that is a good question, and if you want to know, I coincidentally ask the same thing when I was younger,” Xia Sha murmured, smiling at Hu Che as she reaches her little’s hand.
“Why? Do your parents wanted to separate too?” Hu Che spontaneously asked with surprised eyes. When he realized he reveals his secret, he immediately closes his mouth with his palm.
“?!”
Xia Sha felt her heart stop beating for a second. However, under Hu Che’s bright gaze, she couldn’t help but fake her smile and nod her head.
As if it was nothing.
“Yes, my mom and dad decided to separate.”
“Because they stop loving each other as mine did?” Hu Che asked in a low tone while lowering his head, facing the bright yellow table.
Xia Sha bites her lower lips before she shook her head and said, “No, they just choose to love each other in different ways. They went their way to stop hurting each other, but I don’t think they ever stop loving each other.”
The way Xia Qi Feng look at Shen Xia Fei with deep regrets and the hidden longing on Shen Xia Fei’s soul, Xia Sha knew her parents never stop hurting each other. She doesn’t know what happens to Hu Che’s parents, but she knew one thing about them.
“I knew my parents don’t and yours too, do you know why?”
Hu Che shook his head and murmured, “I don’t know. I’m felt so sad and mad at the same time. They don’t even consider me when they choose to toss me here and took a divorce. Maybe they stop loves each other, therefore stop loving me too.”
Xia Sha pulled Hu Che’s chin up and made a cross with her finger. Standing, Xia Sha walks to Hu Che’s side to approach him.
“No, I don’t think that’s right. You must’ve misunderstood something. Hu Che, you are the living proof of their love. You wouldn’t be here without their love.”
“Really?”
Hu Che blinks quickly and lets the tears on his eyes flow over his cheek. A pout formed on his face as he let Xia Sha wipes his tears and pulled him into a hug.
“You aren’t lying, right?” Hu Che asked with trembling voices.
Xia Sha patted the little boy’s back as Hu Che cried on her shoulder. Weak smiles appear on her face as she answers Hu Che’s questions.
“No, I didn’t. However, I could be wrong.”
The truth hurts, and so Xia Sha tried to be gentle with Hu Che. Guan Xian once tells her about Hu Che’s parents and the issues between them. But despite everything, she knew Hu Che’s parents love the little boy. At least from Guan Xian’s story. However, at the same time, Xia Sha couldn’t verdict their situations base on Guan Xian’s perspective.
Xia Sha’s answer makes Hu Che stunned and stop crying as he was surprised. Aunty Xia said his parents still love each other and him, but then she told him she could be wrong.
What should he do? He wants Xia Sha’s words to be the truth. He wishes his parents love each other still like Aunty Xia Sha’s mom and dad.
Through his confusion, Hu Che found Xia Sha’s hand on his cheek as her gentle smile calm his heart.
“I could be wrong, but I knew one thing for sure.. You couldn’t see love when hatred filled your hate.”
