100 years before Divorce - Chapter 242
Two hours before dawn
Xia Sha slower his pace when she knew Guan Xian couldn’t see her anymore. The hallow on her chest expanded, creating an uncomfortable feeling as she tightened her grip on her handbag.
She knew she might appear ungrateful and selfish right now. Your fiancee bought you one of the rarest diamonds in the world, and you arrogantly return it. Xia Sha wouldn’t mind if Guan Xian got angry or even curse at her right now, but she truly meant the words she said to him.
Xia Sha hopes Guan Xian could understand that she doesn’t want to be his trophy wife that could forgive his absence in marry by a diamond or two.
The diamond did not hurt.
Diamond is a girl’s best friend, after all. However, a man shouldn’t buy a woman respect and forgiveness with a diamond or any other thing in this world other than a genuine apology and effort to change.
But did she overreact?
Xia Sha admits she and her frantic mind is never a great combination to communicate. The pressure not to mess with everything she had with Guan Xian sometimes pressuring her. To the point where Xia Sha hopes he could understand her point without explanation. Cause she knew, once the tirade starts, tears, emotion, and heartache will follow. And God knew what stupid and unnecessary words she would throw only to prove her point and hurt Guan Xian.
Yes, she is selfish like that. That is why she is trying, but, Was it wrong to try so hard?
The throbbing pain in her head makes her walk into her wine cellar as soon as she changed her shoes into comfortable home slippers. Her house was so quiet that she could enjoy the pouring sound of the fermented grape juice as mental therapy.
A swirl or two, Xia Sha took a smell of the good old bottle when she stopped and furrowed her eyebrow.
“Why does it smell so weird?” Xia Sha mumbles as she pushed the crystal glass away, intending to take a new one from her cabin.
As she pushes her chair and stood from her seat, she felt cold and sharp edges on her throat. Heat transfer from somebody on Xia Sha’s back as she heard heavy breathing on her left ears, “Don’t move, or you will die.”
Xia Sha stops breathing as she felt her heart jumping rapidly. She tried to remain composed as her eyes wandered around to find something to help her win against the situations. But apart from the wine bottle and crystal glass, she couldn’t find anything.
“What do you want?’ Xia Sha asks with shallow breathing, trying to buy as much time as she could.
“Where is the money?” the rough voice asked with heavy breathing.
“It’s on the vault. The password is 3412. Take as much as you want, let me go,” Xia Sha begged, as she controls her breathing and remains stay despite her trembling body.
“No! You stay here!” The robber shouted as he forces Xia Sha to kneel on the ground as he pulled out a rope from his pants, failed to notice another person in the room.
Xia Sha’s head went blank when her eyes met Xia Xiang’s on the other side. The calmness she tried to keep vanished as she told Xia Xiang to hide via their eye contact. Xia Xiang furrowed her eyebrow and shook her head firmly. There is a determination in her eyes as Xia Sha realized she had a gold stick in her hand.
Xia Sha shook her head quietly when the robber least notice, but he must’ve felt the changing tension from Xia Sha. He turns his body around exactly when Xia Xiang swings the golf stick to his back.
“AHHHH!”
Three different screams filled the apartment unit as Xia Xiang tried to hit the robber, but he dodges, and Xia Sha tried to help Xia Xiang. She runs toward the samurai sword Guan Xian randomly hung when he come any other day. She always wanted to put it down because it’s didn’t go with her room theme, but thank goodness she didn’t.
“WHO ARE YOU?!” Xia Sha smashed her flower vas to make the robber started and answer her question.
The robber tried to avoid Xia Xiang’s blow and Xia Sha’s dangerous sword. He had no time to answer the question. His teeth remain gritted as he tried to knock the weapon away from Xia Sha. Their fought turn the room into a mess as Xia Sha skillfully played with the sword and slowly, but sure, hurt the necessary spot.
“Xia Xiang! Stop!” The robber suddenly pleaded, inviting confusion to the room.
Xia Sha turns to Xia Xiang with a conflicted and angry face, but Xia Xiang didn’t seem to care as she keeps hitting the man mercilessly. Xia Xiang’s action makes Xia Sha ignored the robber’s word and her suspicion and continued to swing her sword.
Two women versus one man seem equitable, but the situation quickly turned around when Meng Ran appears out of nowhere.
“Enough!” she suddenly ordered, turning Ling Guang and Xia Xiang into a statue that only hear her wishes.
Xia Sha couldn’t comprehend the scene in her head right now. She couldn’t believe it when Xia Xiang and the robber stop righting against each other and start to hold her hand. She doesn’t even have time to say something when Meng Ran squeezes her cheek to open her mouth and force a mouthful of wine down to her throat.
Xia Sha tried to look at Xia Xiang when she felt suffocated. White foam started to filled and pour down her mouth as she paralyzed into the ground. It took Meng Ran a second to smirk and slap Xia Sha hard.
“Surprise! Bitch. I’ve come to drag you down the hell with me,” Meng Ran cruelly laughs as she looks at Xia Sha down the ground.
Xia Sha tried to fight the pain as regret started to creep inside her chest. She shouldn’t ignore the warning thump of her heart when she sees Xia Xiang in the room. She should’ve known when those trembling eyes filled with horror and fears even though she holds golf and comes forward without hesitation.
“Hehehe, you will never think that our squad could unite again, don’t you?” Meng Ran smiles.
Xia Sha looked up with all the energy left on her. The robber had his mask open, revealing Ling Guang with tearful eyes, while Xia Xiang has long howl with a guilty face. Both of them were averting their gaze when Xia Sha looks at them.
“Alcohol and cyanide could be a dangerous mixture, but don’t worry, I only gave you a small amount of toxic. That way, you could enjoy your last minutes watching my victory,” Meng Ran murmured, pulling Xia Sha’s chin up.
Xia Sha struggling to talk, but Meng Ran could hear a vain mumble as Xia Sha claimed, “You will never win.”
“But I-”
“BRAK!!! XIA SHA?!”
The loud voice of someone forcefully breaking inside the apartment was surprising. Meng Ran gives Ling Guang and Xia Xiang a threatening look before she quickly disappears from the living room. Xia Xiang holds her breath as she told Ling Guang to use his mask and hide behind the door.
“XIA SHA? ARE YOU THERE?!” The person keeps banging the door before Xia Xiang run and appears with a panicked face.
“Xia Xiang? Why are you here? Where are you sister? What happen?” Xia Qi Feng rushed with a panicked face as he runs inside the house.
Xia Xiang is a nervous wreck as she stammered answered, “I don’t know, I come to bid goodbye to a sister, a robber come when we were just talking. It happens so fast. I think he poised sister!”
Xia Qi Feng’s face turns pale when he sees his dear daughter’s soulless body lie on the cold ground. Xia Sha’s mouth pours out a load of white bubbles as her eyes roll to the back of her eyes.
“Xia Sha, look at me! Don’t fall asleep. I’ll get you to the hospital. You will be alright. Hang on, okay?” Xia Qi Feng begged as he carried Xia Sha and rushed toward his car.
Xia Xiang followed them from behind with a terrified expression. Her lips were bleeding from her nervous biting, but her face was as white as a paper sheet. When she escorts Xia Sha to the hospital, she couldn’t stop her hand from trembling.
Xia Qi Feng was a mess. But there is nothing he can do when he watches Xia Sha rushed inside the emergency unit. When he caught the glimpse of Xia Xiang’s worried face, his heart softened as he approached her and tapped her back gently.
“It’s okay. it’s okay. You’ve done enough to help your sister. Thank you for calling me,” Xia Qi Feng mumbles as he smiles weakly at Xia Xiang.
Xia Xiang looked up and hovered inside Xia Qi Feng’s embrace.
“Dad, I’m sorry.. I’m sorry.”
