100 years before Divorce - Chapter 245
Xia Sha’s uncomfortable expression was pretty clear that Yun’Er felt she needed to help her out.
“Ms. Xia just woke up, please be gentle,” Yun’Er said after she faked a cough.
Xia Xiang is startled as she instantly takes a step back and apologizes to Yun’Er, “I’m sorry, doctor. I’m getting too excited because my sister finally woke up.”
“You don’t need to apologize to me. It’s all for patient convenience,” Yun’Er replied in a monotonous tone.
“Doctor, why do I felt like I forgot a lot of things?” Xia Sha ignored Xia Xiang’s presence and asked for an explanation from Yun’Er instead, leaving Xia Xiang felt out of place.
Yun’Er got surprised by Xia Sha’s awareness of herself. A smile grew on her face as she secretly mumbled, “No wonder Brother Guan is head over heels.”
“Huh?” Xia Sha asked her pardon because she couldn’t hear Yun’Er.
Yun’Er shook her head as she tried to explain Xia Sha’s condition, “It’s normal to have light amnesia after a comma, but don’t worry, you will slowly regain all your memories after a while. Everything depends on your recovery and condition. But based on your condition right now, I think it would be soon.”
Xia Xiang subconsciously raised her eyebrow as she listened to Yun’Er’s explanation carefully. She carefully glances at Xia Sha, who seems busy with her thoughts. Xia Xiang bites her lower lips and musters up her courage to open up another conversation.
“Sis! I’m so glad to hear that. Hah, I’m so relieved right now. I’m so afraid I could not see you again before I study abroad.”
“Oh, right, you are going to study abroad. When will you fly?” Xia Sha asked Xia Xiang with a spark of interest.
Xia Xiang grinned and calmly answered, “This Tuesday. My mom had started to recover. It’s about time for us to part our ways.”
Xia Sha watches Xia Xiang’s grin turn into a sad smile before it turns guilty. She didn’t remember what happened between them, but she could feel the ominous feeling between their awkward relationship.
“Oh, I hope the best for you,” Xia Sha said nonchalantly.
Xia Sha’s pale face becomes an excuse for Yun’Er to chase Xia Xiang away indirectly. She sends a secret wink to Xia Sha as she heads out from the room, dragging Xia Xiang along.
Xia Sha didn’t know that she would felt grateful for Yun’Er help so much that she began to smile. She is unaware of another high tensional situation is happening outside her ward.
Xia Xiang was about to consider herself a lucky stiff when she heard Xia Sha suffer slight amnesia. And from the look of it, she doesn’t remember the moment she betrayed Xia Sha in her apartment. However, her happy time is running out when Guan Xian suddenly appears from the door across the hall.
“Xia Sha is awake?” Guan Xian asked Yun Er with a face filled with hope. But when he sees Xia Xiang, his smile turns into a frown.
Yun’Er casually slides her hand inside her white coat as she says, “Yeah, she is awake.”
Guan Xian nodded before he glanced coldly at Xia Xiang. His usual friendly demeanor vanished without a trace, leaving suspicious gaze and chilly vibes, making Xia Xiang wanted to run for her life.
“I thought I’ve made it clear that she is forbidden to come inside Xia Sha’s ward?” Guan Xian glowered with a sense of fury.
“Well, she storms inside the ward. What can I do about it?” Yun Er answers, shrugging her shoulder along the way.
Xia Sha felt cold sweat start forming on her back. Ever since Guan Xian told Xia Qi Feng about stupid Meng Ran, who hides in Xia Sha’s room, everyone has been treating her like a criminal. No one even bothered to knew her side of the story.
When Xia Xiang realized that she had fucked up her life, once again, her heart immediately pricked icily. She tightened the grip on her handbag, trying to chase away all the pain and urge to break down, declaring, “Mr.Guan, you are too busy pointing fault at other people. What about you? I thought you supposed to protect my sister?”
Yun Er raised her eyebrow when Xia Xiang suddenly snapped back at Guan Xian. It’s certainly not an admiring glance Xia Xiang gets, but rather, a questioning face.
Guan Xian wants to laugh at Xia Xiang’s audacity to turn the table at him. His pair of sharp eyes had squinted at her intensely. Xia Xiang almost showed her trembling body if Yun Er didn’t pat Guan Xian’s shoulder and said, “Xia Sha is waiting for you inside. Why don’t you see her now?”
Guan Xian scoffed. The desire to crush someone had taken control of his mind these past few days. But he found Yun Er’s suggestion to make some sense. Instead of wasting his time proving nothing to her, Guan Xian chooses to save his breath and visit Xia Sha instead.
Xia Xiang turned her back and walked away without a word when Yun Er deliberately showed the exit way, chasing her indirectly. The unfortunate encounter left an unpleasant feeling as Xia Xiang carry on with her plan.
“Xia Sha, I’m sorry. But I promise you that this will be the last,” Xia Xiang’s heart whispered as she pulled a ticket from her handbag.
Stormy cloud follows Xia Xiang’s footsteps as she picks up her phone and places it on her ear, “What is it again? I’ve done all your order!”
A burst of loud laughter leaks from the device, followed by a sarcastic comment from the caller, “Really? Do you think you could run away that easily?”
Xia Xiang bites her lower lips and grits her teeth, “Meng Ran! Let me warn you, don’t mess with me anymore. I could turn my back and confess everything to Guan Xian right now. You could share the video for your damned sake, but you will never live in peace.”
“Boohoo! I’m so scared. Little Xia Xiang finally decided to grow up and be tough. It’s a shame that I’ve decided to live in hell. You can tell that Young Master right now, and I still won’t care. After all, I’m not the one who leech off the Xia family. If the Xia’s family stock value crash down, it won’t have anything to do with me.”
“Shut up! Xia Sha has been gracious enough to let us both live well. Why do you force me to do this to her again?!” Xia Xiang shouted, looking like a mad cat at the moment.
“Whoa, your resentment and realization come too late. Sure, I’m the bad guy here. I will admit to that. But, why don’t you question your gracious sister’s moral? It is not my fault she f*cking make a sex tape with her idiot ex, is it?” Meng Ran sound cheerful as she added another round of questions that Xia Xiang doesn’t want to answer.
“Why blame me?”
“You almost fucking kill her for god sake!” Xia Xiang shouted for a second time, gaining attention from some people.
“Well, it’s an accident,” Meng Ran answer in an indifferent tone after she went quiet for some time.
Xia Xiang makes her way inside a quieter washroom, forcing her eyelids to stop as she forcefully murmured behind bars of her teeth, “Just tell me what you want now.”
A quiet, sweet victory for Meng Ran felt like a bitter pill for Xia Xiang. Images of Meng Ran spreading her lips like a cashmere cat got Xia Xiang to wish she could rip her mouth apart.
“Give me your new life, and I’ll delete every video copy that existed in this world,” Meng Ran said with her sweet voice, pushing Xia Xiang to her limits.
Slowly, Xia Xiang looked at her reflection in the mirror above the sink. She raised her eyebrow with a sly smile.
“I thought you’ve chosen to live in hell. Oh dear, you are the real definition of a hypocrite, aren’t you?”
“Well, that’s why we are friends, aren’t we?” Meng Ran’s answers were short but sharp enough to cut a deep wound inside Xia Xiang’s heart.
“Right, I could help you with the ticker right away. Someone will send you the rest. Let’s meet at the airport at 2, shall we, friend?”
Xia Xiang knew they’ve come to an agreement when Meng Ran cut off the line. The reflection of her pale face that she covered with thick makeup barely done its job. Sweat dripped on the side of her temple as she once again tightened her handbag and promised to herself.
“One last time. It is going to be my last time switching sides and run away like a coward. Xia Xiang, have some courage, you are a Xia, and you know it’s the right thing to do.”
Her reflection on the mirror does not do anything but copying her exact rash movement of sweeping her face with water.
“You can do this,” she whispers to herself before she finds her way back.
