100 years before Divorce - Chapter 252
Under Guan Xian’s ridiculously gigantic television, there lay several pieces of paper in varieties of size. Xia Sha initially thought it was work-related, but when the queer drawing caught her attention, she realized- it was Guan Xian’s sketches of their wedding reception.
After being pushed away by the shocked Guan Xian, Xia Sha absent-mindedly take the A3 paper. She titled her head, rotating the masterpiece up and down before she inquired, “What is the right way to look at this? Can you walk me through?”
Guan Xian, who finished his call with the wedding planner look dejected before he lay the paper on the coffee table. Facing Xia Sha’s ‘I-won’t-laugh-I-promise’ face, he scoffed, “Don’t look at this. It’s all rubbish.”
“No way! I could see something interesting there that I might like. Come on, enlighten me!” Xia Sha begged. She tried to persuade Guan Xian with her puppy eyes and gentle rubs on his arm.
Softened, Guan Xian cleared his throat before he tried to share his vision with Xia Sha. Pointing on a broad half-circle line across the paper, he explains, “This is a giant glass igloo.”
“A giant igloo? Could it fit two thousand guests?” Xia Sha subconsciously asks, turning to Guan Xian with twinkled eyes.
“Honey, I don’t know that you want to invite two thousand friends for our intimate wedding? Well, it’s not a big deal. Just build a bigger igloo then,” Guan Xian murmured playfully.
“Hah, two thousand friends? Yeah, More like two friends. Isn’t it for our parent’s guests? We compromised on that number, remember?”
“I thought you lost some of your memories. Look like our wedding is important to you, after all.”
“…” Can you not be so wussy and answer my curiosity already?!
“It’s not their wedding. Why should we listen?” Guan Xian wrinkled his nose and averted his eyes from Xia Sha.
Xia Sha gasped loudly. Her finger pointed at Guan Xian in disbelief look.
“Baby! Baby, listen to me!” Guan Xian tried to salvage himself.
Her body moved outwardly. With jaw almost dropped to the ground as she said in a restrained shout, “You did not just do that! Tell me you did not change all my arrangements.”
“Well-”
“I cannot believe you,” Xia Sha murmured as she shook her head.
“How could I do that? Of course, I did not!”
“Oh yeah? So you will fly two thousand people to the north pole? Huh?” Xia Sha inquired with a raised eyebrow. Her head tilted in a way that makes Guan Xian feel she is declaring war.
While the atmosphere between them started to feel tense, Guan Xian’s phone rang and broke the silence between them. Glancing at the screen display, Guan Xian decided to accept the call and turn on his television at the same time.
“Wait a minute, I got my bride here as well,” he mumbles as he set up something on the television menu.
Xia Sha tried to relax her body while picking up hints here and there, trying to figure out what’s Guan Xian is doing. However, before she comes out with something, Xia Sha has seen the reflection of herself on the big screen.
“Good evening Mr. Guan and Miss Xia Sha. I’m Danny, your pointed wedding decorator for your big day. Mr.Guan had several ideas before, and I’m here to present several of the realistic sketches that we’ve made.”
An instant frown appeared on Xia Sha’s face, and it grew colder through Danny’s presentation. Danny feels something wrong with his presentation start to form sweat in his back.
His hand is sweating as he moves the pointers to the next slide, where a sketch up of north pole-themed wedding Guan Xian’s has personally ask interacted through the screen. Danny doesn’t understand how his drawing had offended Xia Sha, but he could not hold himself back when Xia Sha shot a glare at Guan Xian.
“Ms.Xia, is there’s something not to your liking? I- We- could work on it,” Danny asked too politely that Xia Sha felt uneasy at him.
“Wait a moment. I need to talk privately to my wife,” Guan Xian notified Danny before he cut off the teleconference.
As Danny disappears in a blitz, Xia Sha automatically looks at Guan Xian with an upset face, “You! I won’t walk on that aisle if you don’t give me a good explanation.”
Marriage is once in a lifetimes matter. Though Xia Sia is willing to compromise with everyone, she remembers she is still the bride! Shouldn’t Guan Xian have that conscience of wanting to give her dream wedding instead of his?!
Her head is throbbing as she watches Guan Xian’s mischievous smile.
“What explanation do you need? I’ve promised that we will catch a sunrise, sunset, so I thought- why not have an aurora borealis for a wedding?” Guan Xian replied.
“So? changing all my arrangements to fulfill your dream wedding is something that a gentleman will do? I’ve heard of grinch stealing Christmas but never heard a groom stealing a dream wedding from her wife!”
Xia Sha’s cheek has turned red while her blood is boiling. Guan Xian could see her shivering as she angrily averted her gaze from him. Tapping his finger, he isn’t afraid to use the same sharp gaze as Xia Sha.
“Who said I changed all your arrangement, huh? I believe we agree on an intimate wedding for us and a ceremony for our parents. You’ve only made arrangements for the ceremony and haven’t even started a plan for our intimate wedding. Let me ask you something, do you take this wedding seriously or not?!”
“…”
Guan Xian’s fierce explanation turns Xia Sha speechless. Her lips pressed into a tight line, not whisper a word come out to defend herself. She was, indeed, neglecting the second ceremonial and got too swayed by the grand ceremony.
“I steal your dream wedding?” Guan Xian asked again, suddenly moving from his seat and pulling something below the coffee table. A black leathered hardcover book makes a gentle ‘thud’ sound when Guan Xian puts it on the top of the table. “You remember this scrapbook, right? After all, you are the owner,” he added sarcastically, tilting his head in an asking manner.
“Well- of course,” Xia Sha replied quietly, almost inaudible for Guan Xian to prevent boasting his ego.
Xia Sha remembers making a scrapbook about her dream wedding before her parent’s divorce. Cutting her mother’s magazine had once become her hobby as she played with her imagination of living happily ever after. She had everything about wedding on that scrapbook, including tiaras, wedding dresses, shoes, venue, theme, and even- decoration.
“!!!” That wedding under aurora that she randomly draw after watching a sleeping beauty!
Guan Xian scoffed, then he opened the page where he left his bookmark before. Pointing at the picture, then the big sketch behind the book, he turns to Xia Sha and asks with a critical tone, “Whose dream is this exactly? Don’t tell me you forgot about your own ‘wedding dream,’ Hm?”
Indeed, Xia Sha forgot she ever wanted a wedding in the north pole. However, in her defense, she makes that scrapbook at elementary school! It’s been a long time~
Though it’s a perfect alibi and escapes, She could witness Guan Xian’s hard work from the sketch and notes that scatter all over the table. If she admits so truthfully, won’t he change Guan Xian into a groomzilla?! He might eat her up if that happened.
Xia Sha swallows her saliva as she nervously tries to distance herself from Guan Xian, who watches her like a riled-up beast. A guilty chuckle escaped from her mouth while she tried to justify herself, “It’s our wedding, of course, it should be our dream.”
Guan Xian’s face turns slightly better, but there’s still clear dissatisfaction that distorts his face. Xia Sha racks her brain in panic before remembering the catching phase at the beginning of their relationship.
“Wow! Do you know I was ten when I made this scrapbook? To think that I want to have a wedding under the aurora and our hobbies of catching the sunrise, the sunset, and another beautiful nature phenomenon together that bring us together, I feel we are fated to be together!” Xia Sha exclaims in a mixture of amazement and panic.
Guan Xian: “…”
“Hehehe…?”
There’s two-second of silence before the coldness on Guan Xian’s face disappears without a trace, replaced by a blooming smile. He cupped Xia Sha’s cheek and kissed the top of her head.
“Great minds think alike! Great minds do things alike! I’ve thought of the same thing myself!”
“Yeah, We do!”
Guan Xian’s barbaric laughter echoes through his apartment before he stops and smiles at Xia Sha kindly. Xia Sha returns his smile before wavering in confusion when she sees glints of malice on Guan Xian’s gaze.
Frightened Xia Sha, who appears like a bullied-weak bunny: “?”
Groomzilla Guan Xian with his terrifying smirk: “Is this explanation good enough for you to walk on that aisle?”
Petty! Petty! Too petty!
