Her eyes were closed while her mouth was curled downwards. It was clear that she was not feeling well even before her death.

“What… happened before?” Yu Yan asked in a low voice, feeling shocked to see Kang Mao Lan in this state. Even if Kang Mao Lan could no longer live lavishly, it should have been possible for her to live normally. But her current condition… clearly said otherwise.

One of the doctors nearby looked at Yu Yan and sighed. “Well, she got involved in a fight and end up in this state.”

“I mean…”

Yu Yan could guess that it must be fight that injured Kang Mao Lan terribly. But what she was asking was why she didn’t live well with the inheritance money that she had. It shouldn’t have been possible for her to live miserly with so much money that she had received before.

The doctor nodded then walked out.

Yu Yan passed another look at Kang Mao Lan before she also walked out of the operation room. She saw Yu Zheng Tong talked with them and then turned around to look at her.

“The rest will be handled by Kang Xie Jing. I already informed him what happened, so you don’t have to worry anymore.”

“Alright. Thank you.”

Yu Zheng Tong nodded. Looking at his daughter, he really wanted to ask how she was over the past few months. However, he felt that he had no right to even ask her that.

In the end, he simply sighed and left.

Yu Yan latched to her husband but her eyes occasionally turned to look at her father, who had slowly disappeared into the distance.

“If you want to talk to him, you can.”

“No need.”

Long Ying looked at his wife. “Will you talk to him in the future?”

Yu Yan paused for a while then nodded. “Yeah. I might no longer need a father but… maybe we can somehow mend our relationship. I don’t think I can ever get close to him, though.”

He had never been there in many moments in Yu Yan’s life. She highly doubted that she would be able to accept Yu Zheng Tong appearance in her life so quickly either. The scar he left during her childhood continued to remain.

Long Ying then guided Yu Yan to the car before handing a document to her. It was clear that he had sent people to investigate Kang Mao Lan as he understood that his wife wanted to know.

Taking the folder, Yu Yan began to flip through the papers and read what happened for the past few months to Kang Mao Lan. She had been staying on her own inside the hotel and practically pestered her lover.

However, the man’s wife naturally would not let an old woman to pester her husband. She made things difficult for Kang Mao Lan. There was countless dispute that lasted for two months before Kang Mao Lan was wounded terribly and left on the street.

Since she failed to call for help in time, she was only rescued after a few days. Thanks to that, she looked sickly and her savings was decreased at rapid speed.

To enact revenge, Kang Mao Lan hired some people to wound the man’s wife and also to humiliate her. The scheme was partially successful but the enraged woman then came to Kang Mao Lan and the two of them were engaged in brutal fight with each other.

Both sides were wounded.

The man’s wife was rushed to the hospital by the man while Kang Mao Lan was left behind. It was not known what she would feel when the lover whom she loved was now caring for another woman right in front of her eyes.

In the very first place, she had been nothing more than a mistress to the man. He also only got close to her because of Kang Mao Lan’s money.

Now that Kang Mao Lan was already in that state, the man no longer cared for her and chose to abandon her. A kind passerby called ambulance for Kang Mao Lan and that was how she ended up in this state.

Yu Yan put down the folder after she had finished reading and sighed. She could only think: ‘You reap what you sow.’

Already being married and had children, Kang Mao Lan instead wanted taken man who would not even care for her. It was tragic.

“Are you alright, Yan’er?” Long Ying looked at his wife’s expression. She looked a bit loss now that she found out what had happened to her parents and sister after a few more months.

Yu Zheng Tong was getting old but he still had to work hard. However, it was clear that he was still very energetic and accepted his situation. Kang Mao Lan couldn’t accept her ending and wished to stay with her lover but her lover’s wife would not let a homewrecker like her to come close.

Yu Xin had a marriage that she longed after scheming against Yu Yan. But in the end, she could not even protect the marriage and tried hard to break free. Not wanting to have a child, she ended up unable to have a child in the future.

“Yeah…” Yu Yan responded simply. She looked at the distance. When she first thought of destroying Yu Family, she thought that she would be happy when she heard their ending.

But… when she heard of a child that got involved in Yu Xin’s matter, she felt bad for the child.

And when she saw Yu Zheng Tong’s appearance, she felt a part in her heart ached for him.
