Yu Yan then snuggled to Long Ying. She felt a bit loss because she could not understand her own feelings. Even though she was telling herself that she was not supposed to have any feelings left for them, she still could sense that her heart ached a bit.

But only for her father.

Because while he was also at fault, Yu Yan could not bring herself to hate someone who was simply absent from her life completely.

“Revenge can’t return back what you have lost.” Long Ying caressed Yu Yan’s head tenderly. Long Ying didn’t say anything more and continued to caress Yu Yan’s hair tenderly. He knew that she still had soft spot for her father, so he would wait for her to settle her feelings down and made decision which she would not regret.

“Whatever your decision is, I’ll support you.”

Yu Yan raised her head and saw Long Ying looking back at her, smiling tenderly. His silver eyes were reflecting her figure as if she was the only thing he could see. At the same time, his hand continued to stroke her head.

The couple was silent during the journey.

For the next few days, Yu Yan spent her time mostly to work with Lei Xing Yi. Her younger cousin noticed that Yu Yan didn’t seem to be fully fine and chose to end work early after some time.

“Sister Yan, if you’re tired, you can go back home, you know,” Lei Xing Yi nagged.

Yu Yan looked at her little cousin and felt that it was a bit funny that it was instead the younger one who was worried for the older one. She raised her hand and patted Lei Xing Yi’s head. “I’m fine. I just have something in my mind.”

“Oh, I can lend you my ear if you want.”

“Hmm, sure, but you’re not allowed to be angry.”

Lei Xing Yi looked at Yu Yan in confusion but she still nodded. “Alright, I promise that I will not be angry.”

In front of Yu Yan privately, Lei Xing Yi had already behaved more like her age and no longer the reserved and strict girl. She was often keeping her image to make others not look down upon her because of her young age.

“I’m thinking about my father.”

Lei Xing Yi paused when she heard what Yu Yan said. Whenever Lei Xing Yi recalled her parents, she would have tremendous hate and hatred for those people who had abandoned her. She hated them so much that she didn’t wish to see them ever again in her life.

She looked at her cousin and tilted her head. “Do you forgive him?”

“I don’t know.”

Honestly, Yu Yan didn’t know. She hated the fact that her father was never there for her after she turned 8 or around that time. When she needed him the most, he was never there. But after she had seen him again and saw how good he was to other people, she felt complicated.

Why? Why couldn’t he act that good to me and instead abandon me?

He was a good boss but in front of his family, he acted cold and followed her mother’s words unconditionally. This was what made her frustrated and complicated at the same time.

Lei Xing Yi looked at Yu Yan. “Not doing anything is as guilty as doing something harmful to you.”

“Hmm?”

“He’s not doing anything that’s worthy of being called a father. My father abandoned me for more than a decade then he starts using me to make promise for some disgusting old men. If not because of the shares that Grandpa settled for me, I might not even last long.” Lei Xing Yi’s eyes were filled with murderous intent.

She had never told this to anyone before as she felt that what her father did was so deplorable and shameless. Back then, she was not even teenager yet and yet he was already thinking of selling her off for business.

Yu Yan was stunned.

Lei Xing Yi took a deep breath. “It’s up to you whatever you want to do. If you feel bad for him, I can only say that you’re too soft because I think that he deserved it for abandoning you and not giving you the care as a father. I don’t know the specific, so I can’t really judge.

But if you really want to mend your relationship with him or just want to know him better, you can try to talk to him. All in all, just don’t do anything you will regret in the future since not everything has second chance.”

There are things that would only come once and if you missed it, you would never have another chance in the future.

Yu Yan looked at her cousin and nodded. “You’re right. I guess I’ll just have a talk with him later.”

“There you go.” Lei Xing Yi smiled back.

Knock! Knock!

“Hey girls, about the store opening tomorrow, have you settled the guests….” Kang San Hai was stunned to see the two of them were not busy working and instead looked like they were chatting. He checked the clock and noticed that it was indeed still work time.
