99 Days Trapped in the Body of the Royal Prince’s Wife - Chapter 48
Sitting in an oversized black chair, silent with a blank stare, that’s what Nathan was doing right now. The man kept imagining the poisoning his wife had on their wedding night, then remembered the small bottle found in Paulina’s sock.
“Why… Why did she have the heart to do all this to me? I’ve been good to her all this time, making her my reliable secretary like my own friend… But why did she put poison in that drink?” Nathan asked nervously as he saw Clara enter the toom.
.”I can’t believe what just happened,” Clara said seriously approaching Nathan.
“But the poison bottle was in her sock… Maybe she hid it there thinking no one would want to dismantle her socks… .and maybe she thought that she wouldn’t be caught because she was never someone I hated or I suspected that she could commit a crime!” Nathan said curtly, still too much to believe that Paulina was the culprit in the poison case. . . “Luckily Felix had the idea for this search because it turns out that it is indeed good but evil!”
“You are too emotional in dealing with all of this without thinking logically,” said Clara, then sat down in a chair opposite Nathan across from the yellowish-white workbench.
“What do you mean?”
“Honey, it could be that Paulina was just slandered… instead I feel that Felix is the mastermind behind all this.”
Nathan looked at Clara in surprise. “How can you even accuse Felix?”
“Because you only ordered him to investigate Aunt Liora and Patricia, but he’s been investigating everything until now the one at fault is Paulina…while Paulina looks completely innocent,” Clara explained with a look full of confidence. “Even before you were very sure that Aunt Liora and Patricia were the masterminds of the poison case, but now they are safe from your pursuit after Paulina was arrested. I’m sure Felix can’t be trusted, even treacherous…”
Nathan fell silent, remembering how Felix had been so loyal to him and so reliable. Even kept his secrets about Frederica being declared his daughter.
“No way, that can’t be happening. I did suspect Aunt Liora and Patricia, but Felix wasn’t pro with them. Not!”
“In that case, okay.” Clara took a deep breath and then stood up.
“Where are you going?” asked Nathan.
“I want to go, find some peace,” said Clara curtly.
“Don’t be alone. I will ask Anthony to come here and always escort you wherever you go,” Nathan said with a flat look.
Clara glanced at Nathan who although gentle, romantic, and sweet, but very stubborn and easily emotional. “Hasn’t the culprit from the poisoning been caught? Don’t you believe that this mastermind was indeed Paulina? That means I’m safe now and I don’t need to be escorted by a bodyguard or driver.”
“Honey… You shouldn’t think so…You must always be escorted because you are the wife of a…”
“A prince Nathan who is so famous you mean?” asked Clara curtly.
“Yeah … you have to remember that being a part of my life is a life full of luxury but not always safe,” Nathan replied angrily.
“Everything will be fine. I’m independent, I’m not a child who has to be taken care of all the time. I’m used to being independent,” Clara said and then left without waiting for Nathan’s response.
Nathan looked at Clara who just left. “She said she was independent? did she forget that before she was with me, she was always a spoiled girl and was always escorted by her brother?”
Instead of being confused by Clara’s strange behavior, Nathan shifted his focus to the pile of files in front of him waiting to be worked on by him.

Clara walked briskly down the corridor to the elevator in disgust at the thought of Nathan being so stupid to her.
“He’s really stupid…Paulina could have been slandered by the main perpetrator, and of course, it was recorded by CCTV when she put the poison bottle in Paulina’s socks,” Clara muttered as she continued walking until she finally arrived at the elevator. She accidentally entered along with one of the employees who seemed reluctant to her…
“What’s your name?” She asked.
“I’m Ando,” replied the employee named Ando.
“Please take me to the security guard’s room,” Clara called flatly.
“Okay, ma’am,” Ando answered by nodding his head.
A few seconds later the elevator doors opened. The employee named Ando immediately escorted Clara to a security room located in the cellar which was only known by a few employees who were considered trustworthy. They continued walking, ignoring the other employees who seemed to be staring at them strangely.
“Could it be that Paulina had the heart to poison Mrs. Clara?” said one of the female employees who was standing in the lobby.
“It could happen but we don’t know what the motive is?” said another employee.
“Maybe Paulina secretly likes Mr. Nathan, then intends to kill Mrs. Clara and then after that, she will try to approach Mr. Nathan who is already close to her.”
Clara kept quiet, walking but couldn’t deny that she heard some female employees gossiping about her.
‘There’s no way Paulina did that just because she was jealous and wanted Nathan. I can see how innocent she is, and Arion’s hints seem to be on Felix,’ Clara thought.
After a few minutes of walking across the stairs to the cellar, finally, Clara and Ando arrived at a very spacious and metallic security room filled with monitors showing CCTV from various rooms. In the room, there were security officers consisting of five people wearing dark blue security uniforms.
‘Very grand, even my company and Michael’s company are nothing compared to this company, so the security room is very large,’ Clara thought, remembering the condition of her company which is now probably run by Oskar and his uncle.
Ando approached one of the officers, then whispered and invited him to meet Clara who was standing near the door.
“Mrs. Clara. Is there anything I can help you with?” asked the security guard.
“I want to see the CCTV footage in the secretary’s room from the date of my marriage to Nathan,” Clara said flatly.
“Okay, come with me,” said the security guard.
Clara followed the security guard until they stopped at one of the rather wide monitors measuring about 21 inches. She was invited to sit in a chair, side by side with the security guard who immediately played the CCTV footage according to the date that Clara wanted.
“Here it can be seen that only Paulina put her shoes under the table,” said the security guard after nearly 30 minutes of checking the CCTV footage.
“And the last record was last night,” said Clare, frowning. “So, there is a possibility that Paulina kept the poison bottle last night. But this is very strange… Why did she have to keep it there when she could have thrown the poison bottle anywhere especially since she was never suspected before. She put the poison bottle there as if to lead herself to be arrested, which coincided with Felix’s planned search.”
“This is very strange indeed, but this is the truth.”
“Please copy this CCTV footage..but don’t tell Nathan that I have a copy of this CCTV footage, don’t even tell him that I’m here today,” Clara exclaimed then stood up.
“Okay, ma’am. I will immediately copy it,” said the security guard.
In silence, Clara thought hard to solve this case. Her belief is so strong about Felix being evil, while Paulina is just a scapegoat.
‘Maybe Fabrizo can help me with this…I also need to ask Paulina about the reason she put those shoes under the table at night,’ Clara thought as she waited for the security guard who was copying the CCTV footage. She felt restless and remembered the accident case which was also unsolved….
