99 Days Trapped in the Body of the Royal Prince’s Wife - Chapter 49
At the police station where she was in the detention cell, Paulina sat pensively in a corner still wearing her office clothes. Sometimes she glanced at some of the new prisoners who looked at her cynically making her very afraid of being hurt.
“What did you do so you have to go to jail?” asked one of the prisoners who was a fairly fat woman who was about 175 cm tall.
“I was slandered,” replied Paulina, bending her face.
“Hahaha… Is it true that you were imprisoned just for being slandered?” .the woman laughed instead and put her hands on her hips, looking at Paulina casually.
“Yes, I was indeed slandered. Someone put poison in my socks. Now my boss is very angry, and I don’t know how long I will be in prison for what I didn’t do at all,” Paulina explained with tears in her eyes.
The woman smiled faintly, always holding her hand. “Do you think I believe your explanation?”
“Believe it or not I don’t care.” Paulina chose to turn her face away until she saw the officer passing by. She immediately stood up and walked over to the iron bars while calling the cop, “sir.. sir… I want to talk for a moment!”
The cop who was a man aged around 35 years and wore a light blue uniform approached Paulina, but still bordered on the iron bars.
“What is it?”
“Sir, allow me to use my phone for a while because I need to contact my family,” Paulina said with a pleading look. “Don’t I have the right to defend myself? now I need to contact my family to help me because I didn’t do anything at all as alleged!”
“All right, wait a minute,” the cop called out.
Paulina heaved a sigh of relief, then sat back down in the corner, waiting for the officers. occasionally she glanced at the other prisoners who seemed to be laughing at her attempts to get free.
“If you were indeed slandered, surely the one who slandered you was a great person. Sometimes the police prefer money than showing justice,” said one of the thin, blonde-haired prisoners. She sat in another corner not joining the other prisoners.
“I’m sure there will be someone who can help me to be free,” said Paulina sadly.
“I hope your belief will not disappoint you,” said another prisoner.
until a few minutes passed, the cop finally returned with Paulina’s phone. Paulina immediately stood up and received the phone from the cop, then tried to call someone.
“Hello, honey, I need your help,” said Paulina when she was connected to someone.
“I can’t help you right now, honey, because I’m investigating a case,” a man said over the phone. “What are you doing? Does this mean I have to come to you right now?”
“I was imprisoned.” Paulina cries and covers her mouth.
“What? you are in the jail?”
“Someone slandered me… I was accused of putting poison in my boss’s drink. I’ve told you this before, and I didn’t expect the mastermind of the poison to be slandering me now…Now I’m detained by the police and I don’t know who can release me because I’m sure my parents in the village would be sad if they hear that I was imprisoned like this.”
“Oh my…” The man sounded limp.
“I only have you in this city, I hope you can help me,” said Paulina sobbing.
“Okay, honey. Now don’t cry. I’m going to meet you, I’ll put your interests before anything else…I will come right now, and I make sure you will be free soon,” the man said, sounding so convincing.
Paulina nodded, then turned her face away from the cop who had been staring at her with a flat gaze.
“Well then, I’ll turn off the phone first…I’m waiting for you,” she said.
“Yes, honey. I love you. I will help you without you asking. Keep calm and don’t cry…”
Paulina hung up the phone, then gave her phone back to the cop. after that she sat back in the corner without daring to mingle with other prisoners who looked so scary as if they wanted to use her as an outlet to be beaten.

Clara got out of a taxi standing on the side of the road in front of a cafe. She walked towards the cafe with a classic yet natural feel, occasionally looking around, which wasn’t too crowded because it was still working hours.
‘I wish Fabrizio could come to see me here, while I’m out of Nathan’s guard,’ she thought.
Clara pushed the main entrance which is a wide glass door, then saw the atmosphere in the character which was dominated by yellowish-white furniture made of wood. Her eyes that were directly fixed on the figure of a man who was sitting relaxed alone, seemed to be daydreaming.
“Michael,” Clara whispered.
“He’s here? Why didn’t he go to the office and the same clothes as earlier? He even looks still with messy hair….what made him like this?”
Out of curiosity and also missed him, Clara decided to approach them. She sat on a wooden chair, facing her lover who now did not recognize her because her soul was trapped.
“Hi,” said Clara.
“Hi,” Michael said flatly.
“You are alone?”
“Yeah, you see I’m alone,” Michael said then drank the champagne that was available in front of him. “Alone is sometimes better than being with someone who is just as silent as a statue,” he continued.
“What do you mean is Casey?” Clara asked carefully because she knew that Michael wasn’t all right.
“You know that,” Michael replied.
Clara sighed, feeling disappointed and worried if this was a sign that Michael was losing their temper. in silence, she felt like immediately telling everything and then hugged her over, but she was powerless. She already had a lot of things to do as Clara, and she wasn’t sure if her lover would believe her either.
“I want to marry her,” Michael said then took another drink of champagne.
For a moment Clara looked at Michael seriously, shocked, and finally only sad. She wanted to say that she was willing to marry him because that had been her dream all along. Again she had to realize that she couldn’t do anything now.
“But why doesn’t she wake up soon? I’m frustrated, I’m tired, I’m tired of seeing her just sleeping every day like an undead. Not responding at all.” Michael said sadly, then continued drinking champagne straight from the bottle.
“Michael, you have to be patient…I’m sure Casey doesn’t want to be in this situation either, you have to believe that she also wants to wake up, then make you happy, improve your relationship,” Clara said seriously and her gaze was so meaningful. “And I’m sure she will happy when you proposed to her.”
“And how long should I be patient?” Michael asked.
Clara was silent, remembering her more than 80 days in that body but she also didn’t know if she could still return to her original body. this made her sick and frustrated especially seeing Michael’s condition which seemed very depressed, made her so tired and wanted to hug him, tell him the truth but she couldn’t do that.
‘Oh my God, what should I do? I want to end all this, but I’m afraid he won’t believe me, and I also have a promise to help Paulina, solve the poisoning case with Clara, the accident case on myself, find out the truth about Frederica….too many burdens for me to carry… Please make him strong and be able to patiently wait for me, and please give me a chance to get back in my body as Casey and be happy with him!’ Clara screamed in her heart, her eyes felt hot and started to tear up but she quickly wiped them while looking down, because it was impossible to suddenly cry in front of Michael who didn’t know who she was.
