99 Days Trapped in the Body of the Royal Prince’s Wife - Chapter 64
Arriving at Casey’s house, Michael immediately got out of the car and frowned when he saw Mia coming out of the house with a man dressed like he was going on a date. Mia is wearing a red dress with open shoulders but there is a rope that goes from chest to neck, wears a rather thick make-up, and gives a hair clip above her right ear, while the man who is with her wears jeans with a hole in the bottom knee, wearing a white t-shirt and a long necklace with a skull pendant and wearing a maroon jacket.
“Mia,” said Michael with a flat look.
“I think you’ve forgotten your girlfriend here. You better take care of her because she needs you … as you know all along,” Mia said then put her hand on the arm of the man beside her. She glanced at the man then said, “Come on, let’s go now because I don’t want to be home late later.”
“Okay,” said the man, nodding his head. He smiled faintly at Michael then immediately invited Mia to walk to his car which was parked in the yard.
Michael was silent, walked towards the terrace then turned to Mia who had entered the car with the man earlier.
‘She told me that she couldn’t like another man because she always wanted me… But what’s with all this…she’s with another man,’ Michael thought not smiling faintly. ‘I think she’s just a bad girl, not much better than Casey.’
Michael turned to enter the living room but accidentally collided with Oskar who was in the opposite direction. They backed away a little and stared at each other.
“Hey…” said Michael.
“I haven’t heard from you since yesterday… Where have you been? Why can’t your phone be reached?” Oskar asked with a probing look because he had thought that maybe Michael was doing the investigation in secret.
Michael sighed, then leaned his back against the round pillar. “Yesterday I was feeling stressed thinking about Casey….I’m so frustrated that she doesn’t wake up right away. I missed everything about her so much… that I got so emotional that I ended up destroying my phone.”
“Brother…I know what you are feeling is very hard,” said Oskar walking up to Michael then patting him on the shoulder. “But if we look at her condition, it does seem like she has no chance to heal. even the doctor started to be pessimistic but they didn’t want to stop treating her. But today makes me feel sorry for her because she seems to be forced to live when in fact she is not strong anymore.”
“So, no progress at all?” Michael asked disappointed.
“Yeah … The conditions are very monotonous,” replied Oskar.
“Oh my God …”
“Doctors say comatose patients with such monotonous conditions usually return to their senses for an indefinite time and sometimes never regain consciousness,” Oskar explained as if to make Michael even more frustrated.
Michael was silent with feelings of sadness, upset, disappointed, even devastated. He didn’t know whether to keep waiting for Casey to wake up, or to obey his mother who asked him to move on, trying to try to love another girl.
“You better see how things are now, I’m leaving,” said Oskar, breaking Michael’s thoughts.
Michael just nodded, letting Oskar go then he walked into the house.
Arriving in the car, Oskar sat in the driver’s seat, immediately called someone.
“Hello, have you been following the guy?” he asked when he was connected to someone on the phone.
“Yes, sir. He’s in the investigation office now, talking to one of the police,” someone said over the phone.
“Well…” Oskar sighed. “Immediately do as I command. I’ll transfer the money for you right now. Tonight I want to hear the good news of success.”
“Yes sir.”
Oskar hung up the phone, then smiled faintly imagining the person investigating the case would fail to solve the case so that he would remain free.
___
Elsewhere, Ronald is meeting Erick who comes to the location where Casey’s car is being investigated. there is a place that is used specifically to put the used cars of the accident to be investigated. They sat on chairs, facing each other against the table.
Ronald wrote something down on paper, then handed it to Erick who was dressed formally in a black suit.
Erick grabbed the paper and read the writing on it.
__when you get the results of this investigation, then you have to be very careful because there are people who want to harm you or me for investigating this accident case__
Erick sighed, then glanced at the documents that had been placed on the table by Ronald. He took the large envelope and put it in a black bag.
“Thank you for giving me the results,” said Erick without wanting to make small talk with Ronald because he was afraid that someone would eavesdrop. “I have to go now,” he continued, rising to his feet.
Ronald also stood up, nodding his head. “Immediately give this result to your boss,” he said.
Erick just nodded then immediately walked towards the yard where his car was parked. Ronald re-entered the building to the office where all the police gathered who investigated each case assigned to them.
Arriving at the office, Ronald entered his room and packed up his things such as his phone and others.
“I think I’m going home now,” said Ronald, looking at several of his colleagues who were focused on working in front of the monitor screen. Occasionally he glanced at one of the police who pretended not to care about him. ‘I know, he was the police who gave that false evidence and conducted an independent investigation into Casey’s car elsewhere,’ he thought.
“Did you recap the data from the investigation you did?” asked one of the police.
“Yes….I’m done but it’s a shame I didn’t copy the data so I need to do another investigation if the data is lost in the man’s hands,” Ronald replied angrily. “I hope the data remains safe in the man’s hands and he immediately uses it to catch the culprit which is actually.”
“You are very careless,” said one of the police who sat on Ronald’s right side opposite the table where a computer was running.
“Yes, I know, so tomorrow I will investigate the car again because I completely forgot what caused the car accident,” said Ronald, pretending to be in trouble. “I feel stupid and I feel screwed about this … That’s why I have to go home immediately to calm down,” he continued then stood up.
“You will be fired if this is found out by the higher-ups.”
“I guess so but hopefully I’ll just get transferred.”
“Then go home, I don’t want to be infected with your careless attitude,” shouted one of the police who sat on Ronald’s left. he chuckled to see Ronald who was acting confused because maybe it was just a charade so the police who gave false information in the room were deceived.
One of the police officers who had been acting quietly focused on work got up, then walked towards the toilet while trying to contact someone. Ah, I hope the cop doesn’t plan anything bad against Ronald or Erick….
