A Breath Of The Wild Fanfic - Volume 1 Chapter 25
*Purah POV*
“I wonder what that was about?” I said to Symin, while I held a teacup in my hand, taking sips from time to time.
“I have no idea, teen angst?” He said cluelessly, I sighed in exasperation. He’s a good researcher, but he’s not a people person. “Hey! Don’t give me that look, you don’t know what wrong either.”
I sighed, he was right, “Maybe he’s feeling homesick?” I said, though it was more of a question. That was probably the reason, then again, we don’t know all that much about where he came from, and he seems to know more than he lets on. Its possible that he knows the future No, that can’t be it.
He seems to have come from a place with higher levels of technology than us, but he seemed so confused about Sheikah technology when we first showed it to him. He seemed to understand the concept, but the process was beyond him, but when his runes activated, he seemed to know somewhat about them. He also wasn’t very roundabout when asking about the wielder of the sword that seals the darkness.
Hmm So many questions and so few answers, maybe we’ll get the answer out of him eventually, just not now and not anytime soon, maybe after we build up more of a friendship. No matter, we’ll be ready for him when he’s ready.
“Purah, hey Purah, wakey wakey.” Symin snapped me out of my thought process. “You can continue to daydream later but do it after this batch of work.”
“Don’t you worry about him? Joseph, I mean, you seem to focus more on work, than you do on him.” I said with a questioning tone and confusion on my face.
“Hahhh I just I’m trying to keep him focused on things to do, so he doesn’t get homesick. It was a problem when he was training as well, but as soon as he got his blue flame, he just he seemed to have stopped feeling as much. I’m trying to not focus on that, it’s slightly unsettling, that and the fact that he could probably just freeze me to death with a simple thought.” He said, the words flowing freely, before he stopped and took a breath, before continuing, “he seems to be going through the changes. Wherever he came from, it’s wholly different from here, it was okay when he was still in training because he was focused. But now he’s got time to spend, and all he does is read up on fairytales and stories about the fall of the kingdom of Hyrule. He doesn’t seem to be developing emotionally, and he uses the blue flame as a crutch, a deadly crutch.”
“You seem to have a lot on your mind, I’m sorry for making you dig that up.” I said slightly shocked by the mountain of thoughts Symin had on his mind, but he was right. “I happen to agree, he just doesn’t seem to be growing. I mean he’s physically growing, he’s getting stronger, he’s gotten faster, he just seems to be holding back. I think we’ve had enough discussion on the matter for now, now for more lighthearted discussion, I finally got a recipe out of Joseph, he calls it ice cream, it’s really sweet.”
And so, Symin and I spent the rest of the night trying to make ice cream.
*The next day*
*Joseph’s POV*
My eyes opened slightly, my body felt numb, I rolled onto my back and then slowly got up. I stared at the blue flame and a smile crept across my face, once I tore my eyes away from the blue flame, I started to stretch my legs, once I was sufficiently awake, I went downstairs and washed my face.
I looked at the table and saw that Purah and Symin were both sleeping at the main desk, the table was covered in Cane sugar, Fresh milk, bird egg and Courser honey, I had no idea what they were trying to make. I looked towards the kitchen and noticed that the tabletop and sink were covered in used mixing bowls and utensils.
I picked up the dirty dishes and started to scrub them clean, by the time I was done I heard two people yawning. I looked over towards the table and saw Symin and Purah rubbing their eyes and yawning, when they fully opened their eyes, I waved before greeting.
“Good morning sleepy heads, it’s only 9 o’clock, you can go back to sleep, if you want.” I said while smiling. Hmm I wondered why they look so guilty, it can’t be anything to bad, they’ll probably tell me if its important.
“Good morning, Joseph.” They both said with exhaustion hearable on their voices.
“So, what were you making?” I asked.
“We were trying to make that “Ice Cream”, I asked you about a while ago, we couldn’t get the mixture right, and we tried tasting it but I don’t think we had the right ingredients at the start, so we tried to use different flavors to get a better taste. We ended up trying to use honey as a substitute for this vanilla bean you referenced.” Purah said with embarrassed smile on her face, especially so after looking at the mess on the table, which I didn’t get around to cleaning yet, “I didn’t think it would make such a mess.”
I started to cook breakfast, just the basic eggs and rice, it gets kind of repetitive but hey, it’s a good meal. I quickly finished cooking and dished out the food and placed them in front of Purah and Symin and placed mine on the bench before washing the dirty dishes.
After eating my breakfast I went over to the archive and picked up a book.
