A Breath Of The Wild Fanfic - Volume 1 Chapter 32 32
I walked through a forest and took a deep breath of nature. I could hear the buzzing of bees, and the sounds of hoof hitting soil. There was a boar that sprinted past me, I step to the side lazily. It gets scared off when the blue flame flares momentarily. I look through the forest and spot the hut of a researcher next to the Fort.
I walked between the trees and picked up a few lizards here and there. After 10 minutes of walking I had finally made it to Dr. Calip’s hut, I knocked on the door, no one responded. I guess no ones there. I was about to turn around and leave when someone rushed to the door and flung it wide open. It was Dr. Calip, he was looking kind of ragged, with big dark bags beneath his eyes.
He stared at me, waiting for me to talk. When he noticed that I wasn’t going to start he asked in an exhausted tone: “What do you want?” He yawned for a few moments before I spoke.
“Uhmm. Hi, I was just going to ask, since I was nearby, if you can tell me more about Ancient riddles and the sorts.” I asked trying not to sound rude. “If it’s not too much of a hassle, that is. If it is, I can just leave.”
I let my request set in, when he seemed to reach a conclusion, he motioned with his hand for me to follow him. I stepped into the hut and follow him to his table. He asked if I wanted a cup of tea, I say yes.
“So, what do you want to start with?” He asked while boiling the water.
“Well I mainly just wanted to know about the more well known ancient riddles.” I said, while I sat down at the table and placed my bag at my feet. “In all honesty, I had heard that the great Dr. Calip was a genius when it came to ancient riddles. So I thought that I could try and learn a few tips about them.”
“Ok, but before I start ranting, why do you want to know about ancient riddles?” He asked as he placed the loose tea leaves in the teapot.
“Well, I plan on travelling a bit in the future and I’m going to end up camping every now and then. So I thought that I’d try and wrap my head around how a known researcher of riddles would interpret them.” I said before I paused, taking a long breath, “I mainly just wanted to see how I’d be able to add up to them.”
He nodded his head a few times while pouring in the hot water into the teapot. “That’s pretty respectable?”
“Oh, umm. I’m Joseph,” I said when I noticed the pause. “I’ve mainly lived in Hateno for the last few years, reading is one of my only hobbies so I took up looking at famous researchers and their look on some of the ancient riddles that are planted across our land.”
“Ok, that’s pretty nice. Well okay then” He started to talk long and hard about a large variety of the famous researchers of the ancient civilizations, and archeologists of the sort.
*3-hour time-skip*
I walked out of Dr. Calip’s hut and was waved off as I took off down the trodden path. ‘I took way longer than I needed, but it was nice.’ I thought to myself as I got closer to the Hateno Fort.
I took notice to several beehives and mushrooms lying about and collected a few. A few stamella mushrooms and honeycomb were now contained within the inventory. I watched the falling apart fortress, held up only by long poles. I took a short walk through it, picking up and looking through a few old pots. Collecting the contents alongside the pot. I was a few rupees richer and now had old pots, so yeah. That’s nice?
I arrived in Blatchery Plains without much difficulty. Okay, 2/3rdst the way there. Whooo. I followed the path across the edge of the plain. I came across a few old destroyed bodies of a guardian or two and took apart its body, I gained a bunch of parts.
I walked a few meters before I came across a small group of Bokoblins, 4 Bokoblins and 2 Moblins.
I deftly flung caltrops across the floor and took out my crossbow, c.o.c.king it back with magnesis. I took aim at the furthest away Moblin and fired, it pierced through the back of its head, causing it to drop to the floor quickly.
A Bokoblin took notice to this and pulled out a horn and blew on it, every single one of the monsters all rushed over towards the horn blower. It shouted out a few grunts, and there was a bit of mumbling. I took this time to pull back the string and shoot at the horn blower. It got hit straight in the chest cavity, it coughed up some blood and fell to the ground, before quickly dying.
The monster group shouted in surprise before they turned around and spotted me. They started to sprint towards me. The closest one happened to be a Bokoblin, they did a jumping strike in my direction, but it landed directly on the caltrops. Which caused it to scream out in agony, I used that lull in its attention to put a blade between its neck and collarbone.
It died, and the only Moblin left sprinted towards me before it started to swing its bat in a circle above its house. I backstepped and took out a bow and aimed right at its skull before firing. It noticed and clumsily moved to the right. I got close and stabbed it in the knees. It didn’t budge.
I grabbed out a sledgehammer and brought it down on his head. I missed because he moved his head to the side, I dropped the hammer and pulled out a small knife and stabbed it deftly into its eyes. Watching it squirm around made me feel hungry, triggering my devour rune.
I picked up the hammer from next to me and started to spin like a top. I got two hits in before I started to feel tired and finished it with a slam to the nape of the neck.
It’s spine obliterated, it slowly bled out from the several cuts littering its bodies, they drew together and formed an orb.
I kneel down and grab it before inspecting my surroundings. Right there, not even 3 meters away I saw a Bokoblin panicking and failing to draw its bow. I walked closer, it dropped its bow out of fright, and started to run away. I pulled out my crossbow and fired into its back. The light faded from its eyes and its blood coalesced into an orb.
I quickly dismantle their corpses for anything good. And the blue flame burned the leftovers. I walked down the path, after a while I started to see the bridge. I was so close. But I looked up and noticed it was getting dark and walked to the other side of the bridge before setting up my tent.
I quickly lied down and with the day catching up to me quickly fell asleep.
