A Casual Boy In Another World - Chapter 1 Rejected By The Cold Unfriendly Cas
Humans are living creatures like animals, plants, and even monsters. Living creatures’ main priority was to live. Their main priority was to survive. Every man is scared of death and will do everything to avoid it.
It is to say that to live a life is to enjoy it. We, as humans, care about everything about ourselves. We have our own complicated life and tried to enjoy it as much as possible. Sometimes we are strict but we do it for ourselves.
When interacting with one another there are rules to be followed. These rules are what runs the society we live in. If there are no such rules then there will only be chaos. Everything will be in disorder that people will unable to live well and they have to avoid that at all cost. So people tried to follow these rules as much as possible and fit in.
And up until the modern times, this has not changed and it never will like nature since the dawn of time. You could say that this is a human’s nature.
However, that was not true for everyone
Thick stack of papers were roughly placed on a wooden desk that it made a sound.
“You sure you don’t want to enter any university?”, an old man wrinkled his forehead along with his eyebrows as he said with a tone of disappointment to a young man wearing a student uniform.
This young man had an expressionless face and cold eyes. It seemed like he was not listening at all and was just staring into the air.
Both were inside a teacher’s faculty and many desks are within the room with teachers busily work on it. The room was busy and nosy with papers flying and records falling.
It was almost at the end of the school year. The teachers must finish their tasks which accumulated over a few weeks. They needed to guide their students and recommend them to different schools before they graduate.
“Yes”, the young student answered with a bothered tone. His glance was saying: I’ve already repeated this answer so many times. He sighed inside his head.
His eyes looked frantically all over and stopped, staring to the door of the faculty. How he wished he wanted to go out there and finish this already.
The old man who seemed to be the homeroom teacher of the young student sighed, expressing disappointment while he massaged his forehead between his eyes.
“Haaa–?! Why are you always like that? Even if you’re the most outstanding student in the school, you should really think twice on your choices.”, he sounded more like he complained than advice.
“…..”
“Eh?”, the old teacher didn’t hear a reply, he opened his eyes to see that he was only talking to himself. His mouth has a hole as his head turned around left and right to see where his student went, “Hah?”
When another teacher passed by him but younger, he took this young teacher’s attention and asked, “Where’s the student I was talking to just now?”
The young teacher shrugged his shoulder in reply.
Another young female teacher suddenly answered when she heard the question, “Ah, sir, he already left.”
“What!? Is he a ghost?!”, the old teacher stood up in anger which caught the attention of the busy room.
But he cooled down when he thought where he was and sat down in embarrassment but tried to hide it.
The old teacher’s expression became one of giving up.
The female teacher then tried to comfort him by saying, “Well, Cass has his own rules in this school after all.” , she said something that sounded like an exaggeration but the old teacher didn’t rebuke her but surprisingly agreed.
“I’ll just let him do whatever he wants. It’s not like going to university is necessary but, ah—! It really is a waste for an exceptional kid like him.”, the old teacher voiced out his frustration.
.
Looking at the clear blue sky which few clouds floated by, Cass decided to go home even if it was still noon and there is still afternoon classes.
It is the last week of school and there are many students who are absent too since there is nothing much to do.
If you already completed all your requirements then why do you need to go to school anymore? Some that didn’t go absent are those who haven’t completed their requirement or just plainly didn’t have anything better to do at home and it is better to bond with their friends at school.
Speaking of friends, Cass didn’t have a single one. He had his own little world. Cass isn’t that interested in friendship either or does anyone piqued his interest.
“Haaaa–..”, Cass heavily yawned but it can be heard as a heavy sighed too, “What a boring day..”, he was on his way to his classroom, he left his bag there. It is not like he is diligent and needed to bring textbooks to school even when it was needed but he brought it filled with mangas and light novels.
It was lunch break so as he walked through the hallway, he passed by only a few students, who looked at him strangely. Cass was aware of this but just ignored it since he was used to it.
They were not looking at him strangely because of something bad but they looked at him with admiration and respect.
Cass may look like an average nerd but he is always the best in any field. He was not boastful of it and he’s always cool either. His flaws are just that he was not friendly and was cold but that gave him a farther position than everyone else. He seemed unreachable by now.
Of course, there’s a group of people that dislike him but there is nothing they could do about it and bare with their jealousy since they are being suppressed by those who likes him.
Cass did not walked that far since the distance between his destination, his classroom, and the teacher’s faculty isn’t that far.
He only took some time because he walk very slow and steady as if he have all the time in the world.
Before he opened the door, it was opened by a pair of girls.
“Why is she so selfish?”
Before opening the door completely, Cass heard one of the girls complained about something. The girl said it with a tone of irritation.
When the two girls noticed Cass was at the front of the door, they froze for a split second and became flustered, they panicked.
“A, ah.. Ah~”, for some reason they didn’t know what to do but Cass ignored them and opened the door further so he can enter.
“Come one.”, one of the girls said sharply to the other, “It is not like he will talk to you.”
“B-but it is not bad to hope a little”
“Idiot!”
“Why do you sound like you didn’t too?!”
“Eh!”
The two girls’ voice faded as they ran in embarrassment farther away.
Cass completely ignored them and just wanted to get his bag so that he can go home right away and just lie on the bed for the rest of the day and read some books and then sleep early. Just from imagining it, Cass was already smiling. He just wanted to let the days pass by while enjoying the most of it.
Cass go to school just because he didn’t want to be bothered with all the problems if he did not. He just went with the flow and on top of that, it’s pretty boring if you are always at home.
It seemed the classroom was empty and he was the only one there. He took his bag and turned around to leave but he didn’t expect to see a girl guarding the only door way out.
This girl was a blonde beauty with a straight hair, her big clear eyes were staring intently at Cass while her arms are folded under her chest. Her legs which thigh socks covering what the skirt didn’t was a little open. Her form was of domineering and solid.
Cass, however, didn’t care and grabbed the doorknob, twisted it and pulled it.
“Ah! Wa-wait..!!!”, the girl was surprised by his action and exclaimed while she pushed back the door but Cass just pulled it harder. He looked like he was not exerting any effort at all but the attractive girl, on the other hand, seemed to be trying hard and started to place her foot on the adjacent wall to help her.
Cass’ frowned. When the girl saw this, she immediately shouted, “Cass, wait~! I just wanted to talk to you one last time.”
They seemed to know each other.
Cass released his grip without any warning and made girl slammed the door and Tok!* hit her head at the same time.
Her eyes got teary as she held her head at the back with a bit of pained expression, “Uwu~~”, she moaned.
“What?”, Cass coldly asked without considering the girl’s pain.
However, the girl seemed to used to it and looked at him with puppy eyes. She placed her hands down and started to become fidgety along with her eyes.
“Umm, Cass, I have something to tell you”, her eyes fidgeted left and right. Her silky white skin began to have a tinge of red on her cheeks.
“.”
When her eyes became steady and looked at Cass with her unironic cute puppy eyes, she realized that she was talking to herself! She frantically looked around and noticed that the door was now opened.
“Ah..”
Cass was now on the hallway, holding his bag. His speed was still slow but he looked much cooler because of that, his back was perfectly straight. It was almost time for lunch break to finish and because of that there are more people in the hallway than earlier.
“Cass!!”, a high-pitch shout suddenly resounded in the hallway behind Cass. However, Cass stayed indifferent while the people near him looked at the source of the sound.
When they noticed who it was, they stepped back and subconsciously made a path.
With Cass’ pace of walking, he was immediately caught by the pretty blonde girl. Cass felt warm at his back and felt the girl hugged him from behind but nonetheless, he still walked in his slow pace without much difference except that he now leaned forward a little. The girl was getting dragged but she didn’t let go and just slid. Fortunately for Cass and unfortunately for the girl, there is not much friction between the shiny floor and the girl’s shoes.
In this scene, Cass was shown to be only a head taller than the adorable girl who kept getting dragged. At first, she could stand straight while her shoes were sliding but after a while, her knees started to bend.
“Cass, why are you so cold to me?!!”, the girl cried as he buried her face on Cass’ back.
“Don’t bury your face on my back if you have a snot”, Cass said quietly and expressionlessly.
“But I don’t have one~!”
“That’s not the point”
The girl gave up the idea of pulling Cass but was determined to not let go.
Nearby students saw this and started whispering to each other but no one bothered them because they knew the two. The girl who was crying was the Lone Queen, Felicia. Like Cass, she excelled in everything but second to Cass. She is called the Lone Queen because she is very selfish and arrogant. She had the image of the world was revolving to her. She wasn’t friendly either. Boys flocked to her but she just ignored. One time, just recently, she dated Hanz, the most popular guy in the school when he confessed to her. Ehem! Second to Cass. But they didn’t even been together for a week and Hanz was already heartbroken.
This let the rumors spread about the Lone Queen and how she just played with men.
And the boy she was hugging was Cass Cass is Cass His name can only describe who he is. He’s not as handsome as the popular Hanz but 95% of the boys would befriend Cass over Hanz if they have a chance and 98% of the girls would want to date Cass over Hanz if they have a chance. Hanz was like a loser in front of this guy.
Cass was the only guy who can treat the Lone Queen like that.
“Please just talk with me for a minute! No! Even for a second~!”
Right after Felicia desperately shouted, the school bell rang and every student in the hallway started disappearing. Even though they wanted to watch what was happening, what could they do? The bell already rang.
” sorry but I don’t have time”, His voice didn’t have the apologetic tone but was cold and forced. Cass, at the same time, took a thick book from his bag that was filled with books. The thick book was brand new and titled; “Love of the Holy Queen”
“I bought three new books today that I wanted to read”, Cass smiled.
“Is the books more important than me?!”
“.”, Cass didn’t answer and just flipped the thick book to Page 1.
“Aren’t we childhood sweethearts!? Cass!!”, Felicia rubbed her face behind Cass, ” or are you mad because I dated Hanz?”
“..”, Cass didn’t reply, however, his steady speed slowed for a second but after he flipped the book to Page 2, his pace went back to normal.
Of course, Felicia noticed this and said, “Are you really angry about that?!”, her voice has a tone of happiness to it. Her arms around Cass’ stomach tightened a bit, “Don’t need to be jealous about that! I just said yes to that guy to get your attention because you’ve been cold to me but after a week, you still didn’t talk to me so I broke up with him!”
“If you know that I was cold to you even before you dated him, why do you conclude that I got angry and ignored you because of that?”, Cass’ voice was still calm and quiet, “Also, it seemed that the rumor is true that you just played him.”
“No, I didn’t play him, I used him! It’s a very different thing!”, Felicia puffed her cheeks.
” That is why people call you selfish and don’t be so loud..”, Cass flipped another page.
“I don’t care about them!”
A door that they passed opened and a teacher came out, “Hey! Who’s been shouting in the hall-!”, when he saw that it was Felicia and Cass, he stopped and let them pass. He then went back to his class silently.
The two didn’t even stop to look at the teacher and continued their own business.
Cass flipped another page.
Felicia peeked to the side and whispered, “You are always quick on reading. Even when we were kids, you were always like that. Do you even understand what you read?”
“It is because I just got used to it”, Cass casually replied.
“Is that the only thing that didn’t change on you? After just five years, you changed a lot. Did I missed something when we got separated?”, her voice toned down a bit.
“Well, in five years, something is bound to happen”,
“What is it? Tell me, tell me, tell me.”, Felicia acted like a spoiled brat and shook Cass’ stomach which seemed to be immovable.
“Nothing”
“??? No way. You wouldn’t change because nothing happened.”, she doubted.
‘No, that’s the point. Nothing happened in the past five years.’, Cass thought as he sighed inside his heart.
“..”
“..”, Felicia had a face like she was in a predicament and finally after hesitating, “Cass! Since we were kids! I.. I love you!!”, she shouted embarrassingly.
Cass’ pace slowed down again but after a second it went back. Because of his slowness, they haven’t reached that far from the classroom yet but in front of them was already the stairs.
“Cass, I really, really super duper love you!!”, Felicia thought that Cass didn’t hear it even though she shouted so she repeated it, she sounded like a child now.
Cass stopped. To Felicia’s sudden confession, Cass was silent. He only stopped because if he continued, they may fall since the stairs were already in front of them and Felicia was still getting dragged.
“..”, he was silent and just continued to read. He was waiting for Felicia to let go.
Felicia didn’t give up and tightened her arm around Cass even more.
” Please, don’t bother me We are already strangers”, Cass indifferently said while his face was facing the book, not Felicia.
However, Felicia didn’t accept that kind of answer.
Cass sighed and turned his head around, looking down on Felicia’s watery eyes, “Alright I don’t like you I hate you”, he said with his usual cold and forced voice.
Felicia didn’t have that much hope but when she heard it, her body suddenly lose its strength. Her head hung low. Her arms was easily removed by Cass from his stomach.
Cass turned his back and looked at the book as he flipped its page.
“Why do you hate me?”, Felicia said in a weak voice. She was still not satisfied since Cass didn’t state his reasons. She wanted to ask why.
“Huh?”
Cass didn’t react to Felicia’s question but to the book, he was holding. When he flipped the page, there were only blank pages.
Felicia was confused and suddenly, a light flashed so brightly that the two have no choice but to close their eyes. It came from the book itself! They couldn’t believe it but yet, they couldn’t deny it.
Even when their eyes are closed, the light still penetrated their eyelids that even they need their arms to further cover them.
After a while. When the light was fading away but not completely, Cass slowly opened his eyes to see that he was blinded temporarily by the light earlier.
He closed his eyes again and tried to massage it but when he moved his arms, he couldn’t. Cass tried to move it again but realize that it couldn’t get away from his back. But why is it that his arms were in his back now?
After moving it but to no success, he felt his skin was getting peeled around his wrists. It was now painful to move it, he frowned.
When the temporary blindness disappeared, he slowly opened his eyes but only to squint extent. Furthermore, he felt the ground was shaking and he seemed to be kneeling for some reason.
When he fully opened his eyes, he saw metal bars vertically arranged to each other with the exact same distances.
All his senses then came to him. He didn’t even know when he lost them but they came back. Strangely, he felt dirty all over his body as if he just finished swimming in the sand. It became suddenly very hot, his whole body was sweaty. Cass felt very uncomfortable.
He looked around to see that he was in a small cube cage but enough for him to fit in even if he stood up. But what was stranger was that the cage was being pulled by horses in the middle of an endless desert.
His eyes stared at shock more when he heard in front of him:
“The Holy Queen!”
