A Casual Boy In Another World - Chapter 20 The Warbeas
Cass stared in shock. He didn’t expect this kind of consequence. Everything was normal until now. This was the true power of the one who held the whole world in one hand, the one who he greatly offended.
“Fa Father!”, Brianna cried as she went down from Cass.
Cass was startled and looked at Brianna’s line of sight and there he saw the men that were beaten to a pulp. Some were already hanging from their frail life and some already cut off. This group men that consisted of young and old was the Expedition Group.
There were all tied on a rope to a horse individually. It was brutal to look at.
Memories flashed to him: Men that were strangers a few moments ago were now laughing, eating, and drinking altogether in joy. And now, there are tied to a rope and may encounter death at any moment and pass onto the other world while not knowing the reason why they had come to such a state.
Among the men that are tied, one was a brown man that was left unconscious. This was who Brianna was staring and crying at. She remembered the face of her father. The love and care that she received, now, she saw him lying there coldly and anytime soon may encounter death.
Their reunion was unexplainable. She had left the city and her beloved parent at the age of ten and stayed in the forest, unknown and ignorant of the outside world where she persistently and filled with hope, effort, and hardship did she train under her master. In order to finish all lessons and learn the Sacred Book to heal the Ancient Sacred Druid for a time being and return to her family.
The kindness of her heart didn’t let her leave from those who were suffering or were about to suffer. The Snake Dragon pleaded and promised that once the Ancient Sacred Druid was healed for a time being using the Sacred Book, she could go back to her ordinary life.
With this hope and promise, she committed herself day and night whilst learning to survive in the wilderness where monsters lurked. She gave every effort she could to find her way home as soon as possible. After seven years, she was still yet to finish but the longing and hope never did diminish.
While training and learning herself under a monster and surrounded by monsters. The urge to meet someone her own kind was about to burst. However, every person she met were just gruesome, selfish, and harmful that she could only keep away from them until she met a man peacefully sleeping in the river.
At first, she had no positive image of this man because he stole his first kiss intentionally and only a whim but just after a few moments, the feeling of wonder and wanting came to her. Then she learned that this man may become her human companion, she couldn’t be happier at that moment. But, unexpectedly, she could be sadder.
The effort and sacrifice that she made were deemed worthless when she saw the state of her father which was supposed the opposite of her fruits of labor and hard work.
“Ah. Ah!”, she cried in agony.
Seven years passed with the hoped to come back to her family and now, one of her beloved and treasured family was one step away from death in front of her.
She wanted to shout and release her hidden agony and frustration within her at that moment, but she couldn’t. Afraid of what the consequences would be.
Cass held her hand to stop her and then he courageously took a step forward, “Why did you bring harm to these innocent people?”, he lightly shouted
The legion commander looked at the men that were tied with an indifferent look and then he turned to Cass, “The leader tried to hide and defend you so he was considered to be a traitor and a traitor was never treated well.”, that sentence was not said in power and control like before but it was strong and nobody denied it.
Brianna’s body twitched and shuddered. Her first human companion was the cause of this?
She looked at Cass in his eyes. Deep in her was filled with disappointment. He was harmful after all; she thought, harmful than anyone else.
Tears flowed down her cheeks like a stream as she slowly retracted her hand.
Cass’ eyes were wide open as he began to have conscience over what he had done. It was terrible for him. He blamed himself.
Brianna slowly retreated back but it was not with hesitation. The image of Cass in her mind was slowly devoured with anger and hatred. She looked at his eyes while getting closer to her father. She never turned but fully faced Cass.
Cass’ heart was pierced and ached as her eyes were glaring at him. This was his fault. Even if he didn’t know anything about this world, nevertheless, he shouldn’t be careless. This was his own mistake.
The legion commander sneered at the young man that was contemplating at his own action. The Giant Commander brought three legions to capture this brat? If it wasn’t the Holy Queen’s order, I would’ve slapped that commander in the face.
As a fellow commander, although he knew the legends of the Giant Commander, he was close to him and was open that he occasionally can think this on a whim.
Brianna’s face darkened and gritted her teeth as she held her father while trembling with hesitation. She didn’t want to harm Cass but she just could let him go, she never tried to protect and be with him. After all, she only met him today. Even if the bond was not because of time, it was still a factor. Their time together was too short to know each other completely. She would definitely choose her own father over this man.
The soldier only let her for a while since her expression was of a tender and was constantly turning into anger and other complicated emotions in a matter of a moment. He sympathized with her but that was the only for a moment before restraining her which she did not resist.
Cass looked at what happened and had the huge urge to help her but Brianna shouted in a hoarse voice, unbefitting of her pretty face, “Don’t you dare come close!”, she only said that short line without looking at him, her face turned down, darkened.
It was the first time that Cass felt the pressure that made him retreat and became timid. Guilt that he couldn’t deny and resist filled his head.
The legion commander had enough if this unnecessary waste of time and shouted, “Just seize this man!”
Although they had no idea of what this man was capable of doing but bring this large of a troupe brought infinite confidence within them that even just only a squad of this swarms of soldiers like ants was able to courageously step forward and tried to comprehend this man. Since they are a squad, it held ten people at most but as they step forward, an ear-wrecking roar came out of the white tiger. Unexpectedly, Cass wasn’t affected but the surrounding swarms held their ear in pain, excluding the men tied on a rope, Brianna, and the three cubs. It was as if the white tiger controlled its roar.
However, different from the squad who lied on the grassy plain and curled in pain while blood came rushing out of their ears, the legion commander was indifferent as always. It only made him frowned, noticing what the white tiger is, “A Warbeast”, he whispered.
Cass was unable to react and even when the white tiger bit his clothes and threw him on her back.
“Control Company, don’t let that white tiger escape from us!”, the legion commander hurriedly shouted when he saw the white tiger’s action.
A company held a hundred person at most. It was named Control Company since this was filled by Book Users who had Skillbooks of control elements that meant no harm but to only control the situation since the Holy Queen said to bring the man unharmed. Although there are healers, the legion commander didn’t take any risk.
A hundred gray cloaked men took a Skillbook from under their cloak that was one of many. They began their invocation.
The legion commander hurriedly commanded next, “Magic Control Squads, immediately put pressure on the Warbeast!”, the legion commander did all the talking since it’s useless to be complicated and take formations by ordering each squad, companies, battalions, and brigade leaders and commanders.
There a pair of squads took action right after the legion commander shouted.
Different from the companies of Book Users, these squads were pure Magic User who doesn’t need incantations. They were differentiated by wearing a different color of wizard and witch hats.
The white tiger roared once more but the Magic Protect Squad took action and none were affected by it.
“Wait”, the legion commander raised his hand in a form of salute but not literally. His eyes narrowed in observation.
As he expected the white tiger kicked the ground right after she roared and leaped through the wind as if the tiger had wings.
“Fire!”, the legion commander’s salute formed a mighty fist that controlled everything and every order he made was executed while the white tiger was still in the air.
