A Casual Boy In Another World - Chapter 23 The Warbeast 3
While all of them being baffled, then came fear, then calm, then anxious, the white tiger ignored them and went to escape but the eyes of the Legion Commander never left them and shouted when he saw the white tiger’s movement, “Another round!!”
Cass’ eyes widened, ‘Another round?’
The Legion Commander straighten his hand as if saluting but it was to signal as he raised his arm, “Ready!”, except for the Book Users who are still whispering their incantations relatively calmly, the archers and Magic Users were long ago ready to fire.
The white tiger didn’t try to escape when she heard that but turned around and faced the swarming footmen, arched bows, and robed men with booklets in their hands, and the Magic Users who held their right forearm that its palms are directed to the white tiger.
The Legion Commander was about to give the signal and shout but was interrupted as sweat flowed down from his forehead. He ignored the white tiger turning around, thinking, ‘Hmph! If you are truly the Ethereal Tiger then try attacking us with that beam of yours! However, that is only a fiction. You must’ve exhausted your power and energy from that last attack, you pseudo-legendary warbeast!’, but he felt karma right after that arrogant thought.
This was because he saw the white tiger open its mouth and the orb of light that gave statics formed just above its tongue for a split second.
‘Wait, I didn’t even say that out loudly’, the Legion Commander hand slowly backed out whilst shivering.
The mumbles of the Book Users stopped, the arched bows went back like cowards, and the Magic Users placed their hands on their back as if children who had done wrong.
Cass knew what the white tiger was going to do so he clutched his hands on her fur tightly even though he shouldn’t have a voice in this situation. He was to blame for all of this. Everyone knew that the white tiger only opened its mouth to give warning since it only needs a second for the beam of light to fire. However, Cass still clutched even so.
After all this, the white tiger still hasn’t reached the huge congealed wind barrier formed from little wind barriers.
The white tiger didn’t close its mouth but turned around again.
The soldiers on the ground sighed in relief, they could’ve been pulverized in any moment but luckily, it was just a warning. Maybe it was even a bluff to scare them off. That sentence had a high probability that the Legion Commander slowly raised his hands again.
At the same time, the bows arched once again, the Book Users continued their whispers but with much lower volume, and the Magic Users raised their hands again slowly.
When the Legion Commander raised his hand fully again, they heard a sound, Phew!!*
The white tiger fired the beam of light from its mouth again, destroying hundreds of little wind barriers.
Phew!* Phew!* Phew,!* continuous beam of light came out of the white tiger’s mouth and made the wind barriers looked as if they were fragile pane of glasses.
Wind exploded as the beam of light were fired continuously. The Legion Commander stared dumbfounded.
The wind barrier softens and became normal wind after getting destroyed by the unstoppable beam of light that showed for split seconds.
It was not even past ten seconds when the first beam of light was fired from the white tiger’s mouth and the huge wind barrier was no more to be found. The white tiger just wasted its energy since just destroying one should enough for them to get past it or just slamming its huge head can even destroy it since it was only made to slow them down but she chose the annihilate everything.
After finishing this stunt, not even a single breath was wasted as the white tiger glared back at the Legion Commander.
The Legion Commander has his mouth agape and slowly turned his gaze to his hand and quickly put it back with a nervous smile.
The archers, Book, and Magic users stopped again and shuddered. Some lose their strength and fell on their knees that made a thudding sound.
The white tiger snorted and turned away her head and flew. It flew, not longer escaping but leaving with a victory. The white tiger was a bit disappointed since it was cautious from the start.
Centuries ago, there were people that if they worked together, they can kill her but what with that measly attacks? And they are a hundred thousand on top of that.
Although its body doesn’t have the greatest defense, being slowed down by headless arrows, its attack power was top-notch. And its fur was immune to piercing attacks so there is not much difference if the arrows have blades or not.
The only problem was Cass. A normal human like him couldn’t take on that attacks.
The army stared into the sky as they saw the silhouette of the white tiger getting smaller and smaller until it vanished.
The only one who was not surprised was Brianna. She already saw her master and that white tiger fought many times. Kilometers wide of trees were blown away to ashes as they fight mockingly.
The knees of the Legion Commander lost its strength too but as the leader of this whole army, he has pride and didn’t fall onto the ground.
Thinking back, if the white tiger directed her beam of light to them and not the wind barriers, they should have been annihilated and not the lousy wind.
“W-w..We n-n..”, the Legion Commander couldn’t talk properly so he stayed still for a while before coughing and breathing deeply before continuing, “We need to meet up with the Giant Commander and the others.”, he said with hardship.
“We no longer need these useless men and useless weapons. What we need are Book Users and Magic Users.”
All the Generals nodded in agreement as they heavily gulped. They understood what he meant by that. When the Legion Commander said that; the useless men referred to the foot soldiers who just stood there, doing nothing and the useless weapon referred to the archers. One didn’t have any choice, the opponent was flying. What are they going to do? Throw their swords at it? The other one couldn’t do anything about it. They were just ordinary archers with no magic powers. If they can imbue magic onto their arrows then maybe, just maybe they have a chance but no.
The most important element was the Book Users. They were stronger than the Magic Users in terms of power but the thing was that they have to chant every magic words written in the Skillbook for them to cast the stronger magic. They are not that talented to skip those words. They learned it through effort. That is why Magic User is preferable since they just have to stick out their hands and say the magic word and then boom. However, in this case, the Magic Users have too little firepower than the Book users but the two are still indispensable variables.
Only after a while after hearing the Legion Commanders orders did others snapped out to their senses.
..
The white tiger landed near another river on top of a mountain that was surrounded by trees. It was composed as she ever was.
Cass got down with a darkened face. He too was shocked to see the powers the white tiger revealed but he still couldn’t stop blaming himself for what had happened that he almost ignored the power of the white tiger. She is not his enemy so why would he be troubled if she was strong?
The white tiger looked at him with a concerned look but didn’t do anything about it.
“What will happen to Bran and Brianna?”, he stared into the woods, “I have to get back and save them.”, his expression was pitiful as if he was close to crying. He said such a thing but didn’t how he could do that.
Cass then went silent. He was always arrogant, confident, and indifferent on whatever was happening to his surrounding. Only those that caught his attention is able to make him care.
The Holy Queen. That cute girl who he offended. For him, it was just a fun prank and a lesson to the girl.
He even said that there are higher people than she is. Although he did not refer to himself literally, he did think of it. Before being brought here, maybe he was a big fish in a small pond. Tired of life because it was boring. Now, lives were taken because of him.
It was a bitter experience. His head hung low while his eyes were narrowed. After remembering Brianna, his heart ached even more. How could he get that sweet girl who had been lonely for the past seven years angry at him and made her go through that?
“I should have given myself up..”, he weakly said. His usual tone was not there as if his personality was breaking. Cass is without a doubt a peerless genius but what can he do against the Holy Queen? Against the whole world she held?
