A Casual Boy In Another World - Chapter 24 Overly Familiar
Going against the whole world is no less than suicide. Even if he were to learn every Skillbook and every Magic Skill, it will still be rendered useless. Actually, he didn’t have to face against the world. He just needed to accept and surrender. Apologize to the Holy Queen, accept the given punishment, even death, after then apologizing to Bran and Brianna for causing trouble.
Cass didn’t notice but this was a coward and timid thought.
He turned to where the army was supposed to be, hoping that they will catch him and set others free.
The white tiger saw his back as it slowly moved into the woods, stepping onto the green and brown foliage that were strewn on the ground. The trees silently whistled and leaves and branches swayed, making it extremely lonely but serene.
The white tiger frowned at Cass’ solitary back, moving into farther and farther. She growled and kicked the ground, leaving the three cubs behind. Making a disturbance in the seemingly peaceful forest. Cass was in a daze when the white tiger jumped to him, he could only shout when he regained his senses.
The white tiger bit Cass’ shirt on his back, without him having a chance to struggle but can only stare at the white tiger as he turned his head in confusion but most of all, it looked pitiable as if he was about to cry.
She then walked back to her three cubs placidly while carrying the somber Cass who is filled with guilt.
As soon as the white tiger placed Cass on the soil ground, a faint sound could be heard, a monotonous but with a constant beat sound that was getting heavier and clearer as time passes. The ground shook at every beat it resounded through the forest.
The white tiger snorted and looked at Cass with an inviting look before it turned around and went for the source of that sound. She noticed no malice so her guard was not up and casually followed the stream of the river. The two cubs followed their mother nonchalantly while the other one sat beside Cass and just stared at him.
Cass rolled his eyes to see the cub’s big black eyes staring at him while her tail waved left and right.
“I’m not going”, Cass sulked.
The white tiger cub tilted its head and stood up. Cass closed his eyes, having a thought that the cub left but instead, felt piercing pain on his ear.
“Ow!”, he exclaimed loudly and saw that the white tiger cub was trying to drag him silently. The white tiger cub pulled again and Cass shouted, “Ah! Ow! Ok, I’m going!”
The ears of the white tiger cub twitched and released Cass’ poor ears and cutely growled, telling him to hasten up.
Cass touched and rubbed the white tiger cub’s face which she rubbed her face against it too, seemingly comfortable about it.
Cass stared, “Because of your cuteness, my sour mood sweeten up a little.”, he then pushed himself up and stood up. He picked the cub and followed the other three white tigers who were waiting for them.
Cass sighed, unable to go against these four. He really wanted to know why these four treated him like this.
He ran and walked beside the white tiger and followed the stream while the ground was thumping more. He then picked the other two cubs and hugged them to his chest to lighten his mood which they did not resist.
As if they are near the earth’s heart and can feel it pumped, the earth lightly moved up and down the more they walked.
The sun was at its peak, giving warmth to the greenery but the wind stayed refreshing.
“Hey”, Cass paused since he just realized what to call the white tiger yet, “Aren’t you being too familiar with me?”
The white tiger glanced at him and growled as if she was saying something.
“Yeah”, Cass agreed, “I don’t understand anything you said.”
The white tiger sighed.
“Ah, Brianna can understand and converse with you, right?”
The white tiger nodded.
“She said that it was from a Perpetual Skillbook. Is it more like a passive skill if activated?”
The white tiger was silent for a while as if she gave it a thought before nodding.
At the end of the river, there was a cliff and the water continuously fell on that cliff. Obviously, it was a waterfall. They could faintly hear the water splashing onto the still water below, meaning they already knew that it was quite a tall waterfall.
They then reached the edge of the cliff and as they looked down, they saw the trees down below were shaking for a hundred meters square wide or more. But when they looked closely, they noticed that there were people in armor passing on there.
Cass was surprised, he didn’t think that these guys would pick such a route. Are they confident because it was in the middle of the day? What if a wild monster as strong as the white tiger showed up, what will they do in there?
However, even though the terrain was very awkward to walk at, their marching was never off. Everyone walked in perfect sync that the forest shook at their every step. Looking at them, there are about a hundred thousand men or less in that area.
Cass squinted his eyes and asked himself, “Is that the army we ran off from before?”
The white tiger nodded.
“Are they still searching for me?”, Cass paused, “Why are they clumped together like that?”
Cass noticed that the white tiger shook her head, “You mean they gave up?”
She only frowned.
“That shouldn’t be.”, Cass looked at the white tiger, wanting to ask something but didn’t, he just muttered after a moment, “I really need to understand your language.”, he felt like this monster was the only one who he could consider an ally, well, along with the three cubs that he was currently hugging. And as an ally, they needed to converse well.
While silently looking at the troops of soldiers making their way out of the forest, Cass asked with a complicated feeling, “Should I go to the Snake Dragon?”
The white tiger was surprised and looked at him but that was all. She was not angry or detest him for that.
Cass also was surprised by the white tiger’s simple reaction: I thought you were enemy? He expected something more reaction from the reaction but left him glad and in wonder.
His mouth was closed at the time, his mind was wandering; thinking, planning, and deciding in many different things; while his eyes were focused onto the amassing men in armor, trying to look at something.
“There are no robed men within them.”, Cass murmured when he noticed this thing. That was not actually what he was trying to figure out but he noticed it. However, he could not conclude anything from that. That only thing that came up from his mind were those robe men and women left early or stayed? He can conclude many things if he was sure what the answer is. The answers were already in his head as he frowned. It seemed he need to be cautious from that moment on.
The earth began to calm down as the hundred thousand men left far away. The five stayed there for hours in silent, trying to find something in that hundred thousand men while indifferent to the streaking sun. Actually, the three cubs were already fallen asleep after an hour.
The sky was now orange and had barely cloudy solitarily floating in the sky. It was still unknown to Cass what season they are in now or are there any other seasons at all. The mood was placid as they just stare far down the evergreen.
Cass stared at three cubs sleeping, unknown what was in his head at that time. His eyes were as deep as an endless abyss, unknown what was behind that blackness.
After a few moments, when the sun touched the mountains, he then stood up and turned around, continued to contemplate, he murmured, “Bran, Brianna, and the others are still here in the forest.”, his inside lightened up a bit after learning that. There is this one possibility that the capables such as the Book Users and Magic Users that dis all the job earlier are staying with the others. He only wished that others do not become hostages.
The white tiger turned to Cass with a deeper meaning in her eyes. She growled as if she knew that Cass would definitely understand that.
“My mind was refreshed after seeing those little cubs sleeping.”, Cass replied to the growl like he knew what the white tiger meant, “What am I thinking earlier? Surrender?”, he then walked, “I forgot that I do not care about the others we are going to the Snake Dragon, Whitey.”, he smiled as he spoke with his usual confidence.
Whether it be talent, his personality, or something else. It was still amazing that he could regain his usual self in jist a few thoughts.
The Cubs woke up, hearing what he said. The white tiger looked at him, she frowned and then shook her head, she then stood up after the three cubs followed Cass. Their shadows stretched forward as they stepped on it.
“What we are going to first is to find the Snake Dragon. Whitey, please lead the way!”, Cass enthusiastically pointed forward as he energetically stepped.
“Rawr~”, the three little cubs copied Cass and walked in a bossy manner.
The white tiger growled in anger. She seemed to hate either being called Whitey or being bossed around.
