- Chapter 25 The Meeting Of The Three Commanders Inside The Sacred Fores
The ninety thousand foot soldiers and archers came back home, with the task to meet up with the other two legions and pass what the Legion Commander wanted to say.
Even in the vastness of this forest, it was too easy for the thousands of men to meet up even without the help of magic.
The Major General nervously passed the message to the Giant Commander as they met with along with the other Legion Commander, leading the third legion army.
The message had the Legion Commander saying they should meet up in this coordinates, it is said that they haven’t left that hundred meters square grassy plain where they have found Cass.
The Major General sweated and fidgeted, unfit for being a general in front of the Giant Commander when he reported the escape of the wanted man.
The Giant Commander didn’t react but only breathed heavily inside his huge silver and black armor that made the Major General shriek a little and made the atmosphere awkward.
However, when the Major General mentioned about a flying white tiger that unleashes beams of light that annihilates anything, the Giant Commander said in great doubt, “Such an excuse.”, that echoed inside his huge helmet.
The Major General couldn’t say anything and just saluted a goodbye so that he and his soldiers can get out of there.
Soon, 270,000 foot soldiers and archers came back to the Holy City which left 30,000 Book and Magic User in a 1 and 9 ratio respectively in the Sacred Forest.
Then the Giant Commander set out with the second Legion Commander and went where the coordinates were. Although, in the Giant Commander’s head that if the white tiger is true then he could only sigh and wish that he had brought his own elite forces.
The Holy Queen’s personal maid alone can protect the whole city, he thought. So it is considerately fine to bring every force from the Holy City.
To think that the three legions that he had brought are not enough. Or if he found out that Legion Commander was just finding some excuse for letting one man escape then he will surely personally smash him to pieces.
..
Finally, arriving at the coordinates given. The two commanders were greeted by the mustached commander.
On the grassy plain, bonfires were made and lit up the night forest. Many tents were placed and the Magic and Book Users ate and conversed with each other about the way of the books and magic. Currently, they looked like idiots or cultist in their robes but they looked rather accustomed to that.
The Book Users looked at the Magic Users with envy and respect. The Magic Users looked at the Book Users with envy and respect. The two sides have no idea. Magic requires talent with a little effort and Skillbooks requires effort with a little talent. That are just the requirements that made both sides respect each other but if they want to become great Users then they need great talent with huge effort.
In the middle of that grassy plain, there was a huge tent set up and inside the tent was a huge round table. The three commanders sat opposite to one another. Well, the Giant Commander was so big that he was in front of the two while sitting on a fairly big chair that seemed to be meant for him personally.
The mustached commander coughed. He too was nervous in front of the intimidating Giant Commander. His throat suddenly became dry. If he looked this nervous, he may look like he was trying to make an excuse if he says the reason for Cass’ escape.
“I have heard something about the white tiger?”, the Giant Commander initiated the conversation. The second Legion Commander with a sharp goatee nodded in agreement but his feet turned cold and fidgeting out of nervousness.
The Giant Commander was the only one that was calm that moment, isn’t he?
The Mustache Commander felt hot and removed his helmet, revealing a lustrous long black hair. Heavy breathing was heard inside the silver and black helmet of the Giant Commander at that time.
The Goatee Commander looked at the Giant Commander with anxiousness and confused as to why the Giant Commander would breathe uncomfortably. His body temperature rose and made him hot too. He too then removed his helmet and revealed a soft long black hair.
Heavier breathing was heard inside the Giant Commander’s silver and black helmet.
The Mustache Commander gulped and mustered his courage to reply, “About the white tiger”, his eyes moved around incessantly, making him looked doubtful.
The Giant Commander loomed forward unintentionally, trying to focus what the Mustache Commander was trying to say.
‘Ieh!’, the two commanders shriek inwardly.
“Hmm”, the Giant Commander stared, “You were saying?”
“U-um, them! Yes,”, the Mustache Commander propped himself, “An unexpected variable showed up, which is the white tiger.”
The Mustache Commander then reported next what happened earlier noon when he unexpectedly saw the wanted man came out of a strange passage out of woods along with the white tiger and their three cubs and some girl who seemed to be the daughter of the leader of the Expedition Group they beaten up and treated as traitors.
The Giant Commander was intrigued by the sudden development. The Mustache Commander was forced to continue with details.
When his report was about to end, the beam of light came up.
The Giant Commander and the Goatee Commander were stunned. Isn’t that exactly what was said in the children’s book?
“Seriously?”, the Goatee Commander said mockingly, he didn’t know if he would get angry or just laugh it off as a joke.
The Mustache Commander looked at him solemnly that it made him stop his mockery.
The Giant Commander was quiet.
The expression of the Mustache Commander was constantly changing as time passes when he was talking about the white tiger.
Is it really the Ethereal Tiger? Isn’t that only in the legends?
The Giant Commander then stood up after listening to the Mustache Commander’s detailed report.
The tent was big enough for the Giant Commander to stand in it without slouching. He then gazed out of the tent, unknown to what he was thinking about.
“It’s pretty easy.”, he said without hesitation or confidence. It only sounded natural or out of fact, “I’ll just fend off that white tiger, then you all go get the wanted man.”
The two commanders were not shocked at all. With the rumors of the Giant Commander blowing up a whole mountain with a punch, it seemed pretty logical for him to face the white tiger.
Yet, that beam of light of the white tiger. How can he fend it off?
However, the two commander’s trust on the Giant Commander overcame their doubt and question, they could only salute and wish him luck.
Now, the only problem was how to find that wanted man again. They were pretty lucky and unlucky at the same time since they easily found the wanted man but then let him escaped.
They don’t know if the Holy Queen has such patients. They should hurry and plan all of this.
..
Under the silvering moon, the evergreen forest was now only darkness with the reflection of the moonlight.
Amidst those trees, there were rustles. These rustles traveled form placed to places, disturbing the innocent trees and leaving traces of leaves falling off the rustled trees.
Taking a closer look, the cause of those rustles was a white shadow jumping from trees to trees at a very fast speed.
In the background were countless stars helping the moon give light to the night sky and silhouetted mountains from afar, unmoving.
Every time a tree was disturbed, monster birds came out fleeing, monsters below shrieking in fear. At night, there were countless monsters lurking and awake in this part of the forest.
In every inch and corner of the forest were monsters being a hunter or being hunted. The stronger wins while the loser gets eaten. The one that is eating will get stronger and stronger night by night each time they win and eat. Some hunt as a pack and had a fair share of what they eat. They were not that smart though, it was all instincts. Sometimes, they fought each other after successful hunts.
Cass looked down upon the quiet chaos below this innocent trees. It was nature. Like from before. This is something needs to be done. If you try to think about it, the trees were crueler. They just stood there and eat those decomposing corpse as their food. Giving them energy. Those that ate enough energy will become sentient and try to join this relationship of predator and prey of nature.
These trees that became stronger will have a chance to become an ent that can will its own body to its likeness. Since it is stronger, it is smarter.
There are also herbivores among the monsters that can eat these ents if they die. Then they will get strong from the energy and then will be hunted by the omnivores and carnivores. The cycle then continues endlessly unless there is something that will destroy this.
Cass sighed and can’t really compare this forest in the day and in the night.
