- Chapter 9 Registered For The Expedition The Royal Healer Manra
“Expedition?”
“Yes, we are to find any monsters lurking one part of the far vicinity at a time.”, the brown middle-aged man nodded.
Cass looked at the young men who are clustered in the area with a questionable look.
“Oh, we are hiring youngsters so they could have experience. As long as you’re above 18 and is healthy, you’re in.”
“And why is that? Isn’t it dangerous if you brought inexperienced with you when you are going to the undiscovered?”
The brown middle-aged man frowned while still holding his smile which twitched.
“No, no, it is not that dangerous. Because this is the Holy City which the Holy Queen reside in, we barely have any monsters anywhere and if there are, they are barely strong.”
Cass’ eyebrows furrowed, ‘That contradicted to what Carl had said.’, he became cautious since this is all suspicious.
“By the way, you will immediately be given a silver coin before going out and depending on what you’ve contributed, there is a bronze to a gold coin reward.”
“Is the food free?”
“Of course.”
“I’m in.”, Cass had no other choice than to accept it. He could only sigh, ‘What can I do? I’m trap no, heheh, this is the only way. I just have to go with the flow.’
“Great!”, the brown middle-aged man smiled.
“So about the silver coin.”, Cass shamelessly put his hand in front.
“Ah, you’ll be given that after you register yourself.”, the brown middle-aged man took a paper in the wagon and gave it to Cass, “Put every personal detail you have.”
Cass looked at the registration form and felt familiar about it, ‘Looked very legal to me.’, strangely, the language and the written language was easily understood by Cass. Not because he is a genius but because it is both in English. This may sound exaggerating but Cass knows at least 50 languages or more.
He took a pen and soaked the tip in the ink. He then found a place to fill up the form. After that, he gave it to the brown middle-aged man.
The brown-middle aged man looked at the registration form and whispered, “Cass, huh?”, he then looked at Cass, “Ah, my name is Bran, Tul Bran. Nice to meet you, Cass!”
“Um, the silver coin. Growwl!!*”, Cass looked at Bran as if nothing happened.
“Ah”, Bran took a coin from his pocket and gave it to Cass, “here.”
“Can I buy food with this?”, Cass observed it. The coin was poorly shaped and the only thing carved in it is perfect circle but was perfectly carved.
Bran raised an eyebrow, “Ah, of course. Are you asking if that coin can buy food here in the capital?”
Cass nodded.
“So you’re new here, huh?”, although that sound suspicious, Bran just rubbed it off, “You can eat at a maximum of three meals a day for a week with that coin since it’s equivalent to a hundred bronze coins just like any other places. The price won’t get higher since you’re in the capital, kid.”
It is a good thing that Bran understood it in the wrong but convenient way. Actually, nobody would first think that Cass was an otherworlder so their brain would go to the most logical explanation.
“Ah, thanks. I was forcefully brought here since I got the suspicion of being a demon spy. It’s my first time here so I kind of don’t know anything.”, Cass just acted the part to further avoid trouble.
Bran nodded and felt it make more much sense, “So you’ve proven your innocence?”
“Of course.”
“I thought it was weird that you came out from the castle’s garden.”, Bran laughed, “Okay, okay, go eat something to satiate your hunger. We will be setting out in an hour or so.”
Cass nodded, “Yes, thank you.”
After that, he went to the nearest shop that sells proper meals. Although he doesn’t know anything around here, he easily spotted a the tavern that advertised a decent lunch.
.
Inside the throne room where the royal family should be at. Irene was sitting comfortably but properly and formally on the throne chair while breathing heavily but was trying to control it.
No one was there except her until a door near the throne chair opened and came out Ilia.
“My Queen, I have brought the Royal Healer.”, Ilia politely bowed and invited a mature woman to come in.
The mature woman has a black long messy hair and has a pair of sharp eyes. Although currently inside the throne room, she wasn’t the prettiest but that was because she was compared to the Holy Queen and her Maid. The standard became too high that she looked like an average woman but if she went out of the castle, many men would flock and fell to her womanly charms and many of the nobles would court her if they caught a glimpse of her.
“Oh, Manra.”, Irene smiled when she saw the said healer, Manra.
“Holy Queen, this is the first time that you needed me. Is there something wrong?”, Manra looked at Irene with concern as she got closer but still had a smile since she could tell that there is nothing wrong to the Holy Queen, only there is a strange red mark on her left cheek that she seemed to be hiding.
“I-I just need you to treat this.”, Irene removed her hand that couldn’t completely hide the red mark.
“Oh”, Manra was a bit surprised, “What happened?”, she talked casually to the Holy Queen. They seemed to be close to each other. However, Ilia doesn’t have a problem and was even smiling at them, her smile would only twitch when she saw the red mark on her beloved Queen’s cheek. Right now, she was filled with regret about it.
“So-someone just slapped me.”, Irene whispered.
When Manra heard it, she froze, ‘Slap? The Holy Queen? Got slapped?’, but she composed herself and thought, she then asked, “Did you do something that made a God slap you?”, although it sounded like a joke, she was serious. Who would ever slap the Holy Queen except for the Gods?
“No a guard slapped me.”, Irene shyly said.
“A-a guard?”, Manra could get close to Irene since she kept freezing, “Is he already executed? How dare a guard do that to you?!”, she didn’t shout but it was sharply said and was filled with hatred directed to the guard.
“Executed?!”, Irene’s eyes suddenly became watery, “He just slapped me? Why would he be executed?! I just wanted to slap him back!”, she proudly and desperately said.
‘Ah, my bad. I couldn’t contain my anger.’, to Manra, Irene was her cute little sister before being the Holy Queen. Likewise, Irene treats her like an older sister before being the Royal Healer, “Ah yes, if you want to slap him then you could slap him.”
She looked at Ilia who was beside her and asked, “Where is this guard?”
Ilia felt pressured and lowered her head, “I’m sorry, I didn’t even know that someone trespassed the Queen’s room at night.”, she said depressingly.
Manra felt wronged and immediately comforted Ilia, “No, no, it wasn’t your fault. You are just the Holy Queen’s maid. The security here is at fault. I was just asking.”, however, even though she comforted Ilia since she also treats this maid like her cute little sister. She herself was a bit worried, ‘A mere guard was able to do such a thing to the Holy Queen right under Ilia’s nose? It’s Ilia that we are talking about!’
Ilia just nodded.
Manra pat Ilia’s head and turned to Irene, “Okay, let me see your cheek.”, when she got closer, she was a bit shock, “What a harsh person that guard is! He even used a thick stick to slapped you based on the trace.”, this was known throughout the city that the beautiful royal healer was still single and a virgin at her age. This one of the Holy Kingdom’s mystery. So, although she couldn’t compare to the Holy Queen’s innocence, she was too. This was her only weakness. This is her reverse dragon scale if somebody talked to her about that so the two was silent on what slapped the Holy Queen.
Irene’s face became redder while Ilia’s killing aura rose.
Manra placed her palm in front of the Holy Queen’s left cheek. Her palm glowed golden light and was absorbed Irene’s soft fair white skin. The red mark slowly vanished.
“There, it’s gone.”, Manra smiled
“Thank you, big sister.”, Ilia placed a small mirror in front of Irene.
Irene’s word undeniably made Manra happy and smile, “No, my Queen. You shouldn’t call me like that.”
“Still”, Irene’s eyebrows furrowed lightly, “It’s not like there are others here.”
At the same time, she said that, a voice behind the huge silver door that almost three people can fit in vertically with golden carvings shouted, “The Giant Commander is here as you requested!”
Irene then nodded and the huge silver door opened as if responding to the Holy Queen’s gesture.
Aa the huge door opened, sunlight began to come in and there, were silhouettes standing outside. These silhouettes were armored but the most noticeable thing is, the huge silhouette in the middle.
When the huge door opened, all of the silhouettes came in and along with the ground shaking a bit because of the giant’s footstep. The giant silhouette had to lower his head to not hit the edge of the door. This man was in a silver and black armor, he was truly a giant. This is the legendary Giant Commander!
