A Death Up Above - Chapter 2
“Hello there!” An old lady’s spirit says while Achlys walks by without answering. “How did she get into heaven?” The old lady says to the spirit next to her.
Achlys walks through heaven, only getting what she needs and getting out as quick as she can. As she’s looking through the market she hears someone next to her.
“Hello beautiful.” a man steps forward and puts his arm around Achlys. “I always thought angels only come here every 2 years but here you are standing here.”
“Get your hand off me.” Achlys says without even looking at him.
“What are you talking about?” The man asks. “Why don’t we go back to my place?” The man tries to grab Achlys as she fights back.
“That’s enough.” A guard says as he grabs the man as another guard grabs the other side of him.
“You know what happens when you break the rules Chen.”
“PLEASE STOP!” The man yells as someone else lands next to Achlys.
“Are you all right Achlys?” The person asks Achlys.
“I’m fine Zeus.” She turns around only to see the god of kings. “I don’t need your help or your pity.”
“I’m only trying to make heaven better. It’s about time we got rid of people like him.” Zeus claims.
“Better?”
“Yes better.”
“Are you sure?” Achlys says as she takes a step to the left and shows Zeus what she sees.
“Please stop. I beg of you.” An old man cries as he tries to get through the guards. “My son, he’s all I have left.”
“Sorry sir, he should have followed the rules.” The guard says in response.
“Dad help me!” The son screams, begging for his father.
“Please don’t. I beg of you.” The old man pleads.
“What should we do sir?” One of the guards asks Zeus.
“Your call Zeus.” Achlys says as she leans on a wall.
“Send him off.” Zeus commands as the guards open a portal. When the portal opens fire comes out.
“DAD HELP!” The son screams in fear.
“NO DON’T DO THIS PLEASE!” The old man yells as they throw the son into the portal.
“NO! PLEASE, I JUST GOT HIM BACK!” The old man screams as he fights through the guards as he tries to jump through the portal until it closes at the last second as the old man falls to the ground. “No, not again.”
“Happy?” Zeus asks as he walks back to Achlys.
“Happy? Why would I be happy?” She asks. “I didn’t say to send him to hell I said it’s your call. But congratulations, by trying to make heaven a better place you ruined that old man’s life and turned heaven for him into a living hell.”
“Now I have to report that to the council.”
“The meeting’s today?”
“Only reason I’m here Achlys.” Zeus replies as he looks back at the old man. “Let’s go.”
“Right behind you.” Achlys says as she looks back at the old man, then catches up to Zeus as the two of them head straight to the Council.
