A Death Up Above - Chapter 5
“Answer me Zeus.” Achlys demands while she faces the ravine. Angered, she turns and yells “Is there someone above us? Someone more powerful than us? Someone controlling us?”
“That’s none of your concern.” Zeus firmly answers back.
“How is it not my concern?” Achlys stares Zeus down. “There is someone above us who made us who we are. Someone who most likely gave us our powers.”
“Why think of this now Achlys?” Zeus asks. “Why ask me this now? Why are you even thinking about this?”
“Why are you concerned about me?” Achlys scoffs as she stares Zeus in the eyes. “What? Is this all about how you are going to make heaven a better place?”
“That has nothing to do with this.” Zeus snaps as sparks emerge from his body.
“Really? Just look at yourself and think about what you’re doing.” Achlys snarls at him. “Tell me what I need to know or get lost.”
“I don’t think you know who you’re dealing with Achlys.” Zeus says as his whole body electrifies. He sends his lightning to his hands, ready to fire.
“It won’t work.” Achlys sadly says while turning around, walking away. “I’ve tried it too many times.”
“Achlys, if this is what you want” Zeus stutters, unsure of what he wants to say. As he looks at his friend, or at least someone he thought of as a friend, in pain, and he looks down, with all his power, he can’t do anything about it. “No one Will ever bother you again.”
“You still haven’t told me what I need to know.” Achlys says as she turns back around, only to see nobody there. She walks over back to the cliff, slumps over, and falls asleep.
Hours later, Achlys wakes up, hearing cracks around her. She stands up and looks around to see no one there. She walks near the forest and hears these cracks becoming louder and louder. She backs away from the forest. While she’s backing away she bumps into something behind her.
“So this is the girl I was supposed to bring?” The thing asks as Achlys turns around only to see another god, Odin.
“When Zeus said no one will bother me again he lied straight to my face didn’t he?” Achlys asks Odin.
“That’s what you get for trusting Zeus.” Odin says while finding a tree stump to sit on. “Now, what’s going on kid?”
“You know I’m a god too right?” Achlys says.
“I could tell.” Odin starts to relax and pulls out a water bottle. “Especially after how you ran out on the council like that.”
“Really Odin you’re starting to get on my nerves.” Achlys says. “Go annoy someone else for a while.”
“Don’t you want to talk?” Odin asks as Achlys begins to walk away. “You know it’s not everyday where you get to talk to someone as awesome as me right? Are you sure?”
“I’m definitely sure Odin.” Achlys sighs. “Bye, Odin! Come back never! Hope the do-”
“I know where the person you’re looking for is.” Odin says while Achlys quickly turns back around and stares at him shocked. “So, are we going to talk or are you going to keep staring at me?”
