A Fake Holy Mother in the Zombie Apocalypse - CH 157
Chapter 157 – What do the letters on the tags mean? (1)
Lu Xingchi had to come to this island, and his stay couldn’t be shorter than in his past life. Meeting the island’s traffickers was exactly what he wanted. He had already thought of an excuse to explain to Bei Nuan and the others why he wanted to come to this island.
He didn’t expect that Bei Nuan wouldn’t ask him any questions. Instead, she obediently followed him like a little tail. Even odder, the others didn’t ask him any questions either. No one complained or questioned him. They unconditionally trusted his judgment and followed him without hesitation or second thoughts. His throat felt a bit dry.
Still, he had to say why he wanted to come here. It was a very important matter.
“Bei Nuan, did you notice there was a 品 symbol on their van?”
Bei Nuan did her best to recollect, but she couldn’t remember. At the time, it had been too late in the day, and the riverside was too dark. She had also been preoccupied with the small wooden boat.
Lu Xingchi simply picked up a branch and drew the symbol on the ground.
It was three petal-like half-circles that pointed towards the 品 symbol in the center with an eye in the very center.
“I’ve seen this symbol before,” Lu Xingchi said, “When we were at Refuge #9, I searched through the building the guards were staying at and saw that symbol on a scrap of paper.”
Bei Nuan thought it over. “But that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s a connection.”
Lu Xingchi nodded. “True, but this is our only clue.”
Bei Nuan thought; he was right. Huo Ren and the unknown guy that had injected Du Ruo with the zombie virus inhibitor were very mysterious. It was very like that there was a connection between them.
The zombie virus in Du Ruo was only temporarily suppressed, and they didn’t know how long the effect would last. No matter how small the clue was, it was worth pursuing. His reason was very tenable.
Lu Xingchi also shared this matter with the others, and everyone agreed with his idea.
“Anyways, we’re not in a hurry,” Tang Tang said.
Jiang Fei agreed, “Yeah, it’s more important to find clues for the zombie virus inhibitor.”
Du Ruo was very touched.
He looked at everyone and said in a sincere tone, “If I become the zombie king one day, even if I wipe out humanity, I’ll set up a zone safe for humans for you guys. I’ll treat you as mascots. I’ll take good care of you and feed you delicious food every day.”
Everyone else: “…”

The head conman’s prediction was very accurate. Even though they had set up their tents far from others, their tents still caught the attention of others. These tents could block the wind and keep out the rain. On this island where housing was scarce, tents were precious.
Sure enough, people came over to steal their tents later in the night.
Bei Nuan blearily woke up from the sensation of her tent being moved.
When she poked her head out, she saw several people. Two of those people were dragging her tent. It was as if she was sitting in a small car that was being towed away.
Bei Nuan: ?
Tang Tang had accidentally fallen asleep during his turn to keep watch. Hearing the movement, he abruptly woke up. “Who are you guys? You’re trying to steal our stuff?”
Lu Xingchi and Jiang Fei had already come out of their tents.
Bei Nuan unzipped her tent and poked her head out again. “Even if you’re going to steal the tent, why are you stealing me too?”
Even if she was petite and hard to see since she was curled up in the thick sleeping bag, they should have still noticed her.
Even at a time like this, Lu Xingchi couldn’t resist smiling. A moment later, he punched one of the thieves. He didn’t even bother using his abilities.
Seeing Lu Xingchi’s punch, Jiang Fei and the others didn’t hesitate to attack too.
Jiang Fei didn’t take out his daggers. With a punch and a kick from him, a thief went flying.
These thieves were too unskilled. They weren’t the team’s opponents at all.
Lu Xingchi had come out in a hurry and didn’t have time to button up his shirt. The small metal tag slipped out of his open shirt from his movements and swung back and forth on his chest.
His opponent suddenly dashed away.
The guy was so surprised that his voice went up an octave. He pointed at Lu Xingchi and said to his companions, “He’s A rank!”
Another guy pointed at Jiang Fei’s tag. “This guy has an A rank tag too!”
Bei Nuan thought; were these guys blind? Did it matter that Lu Xingchi and Jiang Fei had A rank tags? They should have realized they were outmatched the moment they were punched. Why did they recognize their opponents’ strength based on the tag ranking? Did they think they were still in school and cared about the academic ranking system?
Fear appeared in the eyes of the thieves.
One of them asked in puzzlement, “How did so many people with A tags appear?”
Another person muttered, “They’re new arrivals. Old Hu’s judgment is so good. He won’t be wrong.”
No one was paying attention to Du Ruo. Du Ruo hastily pulled out his tag and showed it to them. “Look, I’m A rank too.”
Bei Nuan: “…”
“Three A ranks?”
With a solemn expression, the leader of the thieves waved his hand. The thieves turned around and fled, quickly disappearing into the darkness.
From then on until dawn, the team peacefully slept without any further harassment.
