A Fake Holy Mother in the Zombie Apocalypse - CH 170
Chapter 170 – Caught (2)
Bei Nuan suddenly figured it out. She had hidden herself so well, but he was able to find her because of the zombies near her. The zombies knew Bei Nuan was hiding in the corner, and the nearby zombies were all leaning on the metal cages towards her. No matter how well she hid, Du Ruo’s stupid subjects had given her way.
At a slug’s pace, Bei Nuan came out of the corner and over to a spot illuminated by the lights in the tunnel.
When Qiu Zhengxun saw that it was just a girl hiding in the room, his alertness turned to impatience.
Next to him, Uncle Shi blurted out, “Aren’t you the girl I saw this morning…”
Bei Nuan thought; your eyesight is too good.
Qiu Ji looked over Bei Nuan with interest. He tilted his head and asked Uncle Shi, “Do you know her?”
“No,” Uncle Shi answered, “but I saw her this morning. I was surprised that such a pretty girl is an F.”
“F?” Qiu Ji looked at Bei Nuan with more interest and instructed her, “Show me your tag.”
Bei Nuan obediently pulled out the tag from her collar to show him.
Qiu Ji glanced at the F on the tag and smiled. “Why are you here?”
Qiu Zhengxun was already very impatient. “Why are you wasting time talking to her? It’s clearly written that only relevant personnel can come in here. She went against the rules and poked her nose where it didn’t belong. Just tie her up and throw her in the lake.”
Bei Nuan freaked out. Throwing someone into a lake was no joke.
Qiu Zhengxun frowned, looking very displeased. He gestured at the subordinates behind him.
Two people immediately came over to grab Bei Nuan.
Qiu Ji raised his hand to stop them.
Qiu Ji wasn’t fierce. He asked Bei Nuan again, “Why are you here? You’re a laborer. Why did you come to the place where we store the zombies?”
She really couldn’t think of any excuses.
Uncle Shi also asked Bei Nuan, “Did you come here to find someone?”
If she said yes, what would she do if they asked who she was looking for? Bei Nuan was a recent arrival on the island and didn’t know anyone. Even if she wanted to make stuff up, she couldn’t.
Bei Nuan shook her head.
Before she could speak, Uncle Shi asked her, “Are you here looking for food? Or, did you get lost?”
Bei Nuan felt that all of his questions were tricks.
She would pass by the kitchen area before coming here. There was no reason to come here if her goal was food. As for getting lost? There was only one path here, and there were plenty of people in the tunnel to ask for directions. There was no way to get lost.
Besides, there was such a big sign at the entrance that only staff were allowed to enter.
Bei Nuan braced herself and answered, “None of those reasons. I came here to play.”
Qiu Ji was even more interested. “You came to a place where zombies were locked up for fun? Is it fun? Are you not afraid?
Anyways, she had already told one lie. She might as well continue.
Bei Nuan said, “I used to be really afraid of zombies, but I later felt that this wasn’t good. I heard others say there are a lot of zombies locked up in cages here, so it’s pretty safe. I snuck over here to work on my courage.”
In a quiet voice, she added, “I really didn’t… bully your zombies.”
Throwing beef jerky at them wasn’t bullying.
“Bullying zombies?” Qiu Ji was smiling so hard that his eyes closed. “You’re small and an F to boot, but your courage is big.”
Qiu Zhengxun didn’t want to keep listening to their conversation. He ordered his subordinates, “Tie her up, take her outside, and throw her into the lake.”
He was serious?
Bei Nuan quickly scanned her pocket space and found the life jacket she had collected in Jiang City as well as her sharpest dagger. Would she still be able to cut through rope if her hands were tied up? That’s what the protagonists in movies did. She was only a female supporting character, so she wasn’t sure if she would be able to pull off the same move.
However, Qiu Ji stopped the person that was going to tie her up.
“Don’t. Doing that is such a waste. Even if you want to punish her, I have a better way.”
Qiu Zhengxun looked like he wanted his subordinates to just shoot Bei Nuan, but Qiu Ji preserved.
The two brothers were at a stalemate. For the sake of an insignificant laborer, they stared at each other. Neither would give in.
A while later, Qiu Zhengxun was the first to give in. He nodded.
Five minutes later, Bei Nuan found out Qiu Ji’s punishment for her.
They took Bei Nuan to a deep cavern that was deeper into the casino. It was packed with people, and everyone was shouting in excitement as if they were looking forward to something.
After passing through the densely packed crowd, Bei Nuan saw a platform in the innermost part of the cavern that served as a stage. There was a cage the size of a room on the stage.
