A God’s Apocalyptic Entertainment - Chapter 142 Libray Battle Part 1
Me, Ella and Rose rushed back to the library as quick as we could, danger perception was still ringing in my ear and I think it was getting louder.
*Haaa*
I let out a breath of air as we closed the thick wooden doors and moved in. We could no longer go to the special library so the layout of the building was different from memory. I didn’t really care much; I just wanted to catch my breath in some place familiar before we move out.
I gave myself a few minutes to rest and recuperate before heading out, but a problem occurred. After 6 minutes Ella who was sitting next to me and laying her head on my shoulder, she may look old but like a kid she liked physical contact with me, sprung up and started to sniff the air.
Her head whipped towards the door and a frown appeared on her face.
“Shit.”
I mumbled that under my breath before she turned back to me. I think I knew what she was about to say.
“Brother, a small group of people are heading our way. They are heading right for us. They smell like that woman from before.”
There was only one person she could be talking about. I may have gotten a lot of stats from killing her, even leveling 4 times but I wasn’t sure I could take a group of people like that. Not to mention I had no clue what classes they were.
I had enough information to make some plans to deal with them, but I was too short on time. I got to my feet slowly and Rose also moved over. I turned my head up and looked at the roof, drawing back into my thoughts. After a few minutes I finally came to a decision.
They were coming right for us that meant they had someone that could track us. There were a few classes that accommodated that type of skill set. The main point though is, I couldn’t run. I wouldn’t be able to go anywhere they wouldn’t find me.
I had to fight them on my terms. Looking back down I surveyed the inside of the building and decided.
“We’ll fight in here.”
There would be obstacles and other hindrances for them to come in here. They didn’t know the layout of the building, and it would help us tremendously if they had an archer and mage. The mage could still possibly fight in here but it would be hard. While the archer wouldn’t be able to.
All of them focused on long range combat and as long as we stayed in here they were useless. But we would have to stay away from the windows. The fight in here would be determined by the melee classes.
“They will be here soon.”
Ella spoke up from the side and I nodded towards her, my senses were screaming at me, the danger that was approaching.
We moved further into the building and prepared.
****************************
Darg and his horse in front of me started to slow down before finally stopping. I stopped my horse behind his and surveyed the area. A few ruined buildings and obstacles were in our path, I looked at them one by one to make sure there were no traps around before finally focusing on the building in front of us.
A small few steps lead up to a huge building, not comparative in height to many around us, but in width and sturdiness it was greater. It wasn’t made out of flimsy materials like glass, that some of the other buildings were made of. Probably one of the only reasons it was still standing.
Two wooden doors stood between them and the demon, a small plaque hanging above them. I sent it a small look before returning them back to the door. We couldn’t be carless here.
“Norman, take a vantage point in one of the surrounding buildings. I want you to stop them if they try and escape. Also relay any information you can find before we go in.”
“Leader!”
I turned back and talked to Norman behind me. He gave me a solid nod with his quiver and arrow strapped to his back. I could just see the hatred hidden in his eyes. My eyes flashed as I remembered a small detail when he came to enroll in the army.
‘His parents were killed by demons right?’
His horse galloped off to the building on the right and he dismounted. The rest of us also got down and started to prepare our gear, everyone was in a tense mood.
I slung my shield over my shoulder and strapped it to my left arm. Pulling down my trusty spear I looked at the sharp edge and looked at my reflection. My eyes were slightly red from the tears I shed for Nadia; my hair was disheveled more than usual, rushing here made me look a mess.
I leaned my spear on the shield and reached up slowly to fix my hair, couldn’t have it in my face while I was fighting. Brushing it to the side I looked at the entrance and then back at my spear. I wouldn’t have enough room to maneuver it inside.
With that thought in mind I let out a small sigh and let it drop to the ground, reaching for my waist. It wasn’t usual that I used the sword; it didn’t have enough reach with my shield. But I would have to use it today.
I felt the eyes of my team bore into my back and take note of my actions. I had to turn back and show them my stoic face, honestly I was scared about what we were going to face, and the anger could only help me so much when facing a demon.
Getting my feeling under control I turned back and looked at the people before me, this might be the last time I see some of them, maybe all of them.
I shook my head and let those thoughts drift away focusing on each of them, my eyes turning sharp. I could see the slight tremble in some of their arms, or the sweat that flowed down their head in this cool weather, they were scared and nervous same as me.
I needed to do my job at times like this.
“Everyone listen up!”
“”””SIR!!””””
“Once Norman takes the high ground we’ll move in! Watch out for their teeth! If they latch onto any part of you it will disappear!”
They nodded their heads solemnly; they had all heard the stories.
“They will most likely have superior strength and speed, so work as a team!”
“””Yes Sir!”””
“We will protect the empire from this threat and kill it now! For the Empire!!!”
“””””For the Empire!!!!”””””
Their nervous bodies calmed down, their eyes showing strength, none of them had ever faced a Demon before, they had all joined the army after that war, and they didn’t know the horrors that were committed by them.
*Beep*
(In Position, I have sight on target.)
I looked down at the message I received, perfect timing. I quickly typed back.
(Confirmed, operation start.)
Finished with that we moved towards the wooden doors, they would know we are already here.
Blood pumped through my veins as I rushed up the stairs, shouldn’t give them too much time.
“Lets go kill a demon!”
*Bang*
I knocked down the wooden doors.
