A God’s Apocalyptic Entertainment - Chapter 146 What have you been up to?
*Click*
The metal pod made a small clicking noise as its surface peeled back and a figure gripped the edge. Using a little strength they pulled their body into a sitting position before stretching their body.
*Yawn*
Giving a small yawn Chloe slowly pulled herself out of the pod and moved over to her desk. Having nothing better to do while she was takin a break from the game, she booted up her computer.
“God leveling is such a chore. It wasn’t this hard when I was leveling with Liam.”
She started to complain to herself as she waited for the computer to start, it had been 3 weeks since the game had come out. The game had seen an influx of players over this short period of time. The sales for the gaming pods and game had broken all records that had come before it. It was unknown how many people were playing the game at the minute. Some guessed a few million, others a few hundred million. Some even said that it was at the billion stage already.
Chloe didn’t really care about the new players though, even if there were 2 billion people playing the game, it was the size of their world, meaning they would all be spread out pretty far given enough time. What bugged her were the people that recognized her, they annoyed her all the time with questions and party request if they had the party function. Thank god not many players had that yet, it cost enough to set some people back.
Being famous wasn’t the only problem, the class she had chosen right now didn’t have many attack orientated abilities, it was a bullet she was prepared to take to fulfill her goals later down the track. But having to group with people that became cocky and died running into a group of infected, or grouping with people that would unceasingly ask her questions, was becoming too much.
In the end Chloe just couldn’t believe how long it was taking to level, she had easily gotten to level 10 within 1 and a half weeks, thanks to her testing experience she was already prepared for many things. This let her grow at a stupid level, by the end of this 3rd week though she was still level 19. It became increasingly harder to level, and she hadn’t realized this fact while running around with Liam.
Where she was gaining experience left and right by tagging along with him, she was gaining a pitiful amount on her own. At the rate she was going she would never be able to catch up with Liam and his group. And that for some reason that thought annoyed her to no end.
*Sigh*
Chloe let out a small sigh as the computer finally came alive; she would take a break and then get back to it as fast as possible. She was still pretty far ahead of most people, even some guilds. Some had even tried to scout her once they found where she was leveling. Of course she said no, but left the idea in the open just in case.
Going straight to the AGAE home page she clicked on one of the new links that had shown up recently. The page loaded slowly but soon enough many videos appeared in front of her eyes.
The new VR pods that everyone had access to, had a new distinctive feature, which is the fact a player could record what they were seeing in game. You could leave it on at all times and upload whatever you wanted or you could turn it off.
You could edit what was show inside the pods before uploading it to the home page. Of course ‘Sim Tech’ The Company behind the game made it impossible for people to put the videos up on any other site. This caused an outcry from sites such as YouTube, where this would be their bread and butter.
But they didn’t care, some sources say that a few well know hackers tried to hack in and transfer the video straight from the pod to something else but that failed. And no one could crack the encryption of the home page to steal it from there.
The new page on the site had hundreds of videos popping up every second, most of the popular ones would be stuck at the top of the page and you would have to scroll down for less popular ones. The site even had an automated algorithm that put videos that it thought would be popular at the top.
That was why most of the videos at the top of the page showcased the special NPC’s. That’s what some people had dubbed them. They were all of the NPC’s that were shown in trailers, the Black Knight character, the European man, Asian woman, Egyptian man and Liam. Any video that had them in the thumbnail or show footage of them would generally be at the top.
Chloe had a quick look through them, in the last few weeks Liam had never shown up on this page, it was like he had disappeared, no one had heard anything about the youth traveling around with the silver haired woman.
The most seen person was actually the Black Knight fellow, he was taped multiple times killing tones of people, NPC’s, players. Monsters, everything you could think of. He didn’t go into the big towns that had many guards and high level characters, but was often spotted going into the small towns and ruined cities. If you were unlucky enough to actually run into him, you would die.
He killed anything that walked his way and everyone knew to avoid him. Even though he wouldn’t attack the big cities at the moment, he was still known to kill massive groups of players. He was running around in America right now and a guild had even tried to hunt him down one time.
That guild was forced to stop after all their elite players were massacred and they were set back a huge margin. They had been one of the top 20 guilds in the country, but many predicted this set back could force them out of the top 50. Even though it was only the 2nd week when it happened, the damage were that great. Their reputation had plummeted and they were ridiculed by many for attacking one of the special NPC’s with just over level 10’s at their disposal. Even with superior numbers, that was a stupid idea.
But Chloe was surprised when the first 5 videos that popped up at the top of the page all featured Liam’s face and nick name. No one had actually found out his name, and Chloe never told anyone. But after the trailer of him stabbing her in the back circulated, he was given the nick name ‘Demon’, to denote his cold hearted and sinister personality.
Seeing so many videos Chloe knew something big had happened, so she quietly clicked on the first video talking to herself.
“What have you been up to Liam?”
