A God’s Apocalyptic Entertainment - Chapter 157 Determination
The 3 boys in front of me shivered in fright, my presence intimidating them. Out of the children, the boy in front of me looked the oldest. I used analyze on the kid that looked 12-13 years old.
Name: Spetz
Race: Human
Sex: Male
Age: 12
Level: 6
Class: Warrior
His level was abysmally small compared to the guild, like I thought he was only 12 years old. His body retracted slightly under my stare and I suppressed my aura as best I could, putting on a smile, I couldn’t tell if it looked good. I hadn’t had much to smile about lately.
The smile didn’t seem to help so I just shook my head and turned back to Ella. She was crouched over helping the other girl back to her feet. She had regained consciousness but her body was weak, like the rest. The child that was crying into Rose’s shoulder had started to calm down.
My thoughts drifted all over the place as I thought of what to do.
I couldn’t take them with me, could I?
I had already gone through such a situation when I first picked up Ella, I couldn’t leave a child to fend for themselves. I could leave them if they were older, if they could look after themselves and survive. But they were just children.
I couldn’t in good heart let them go, I knew they would die in such an environment and that guilt would weigh on me. Even more than what I already had to carry.
But I couldn’t take them with me, they weren’t like Ella, who had grown fast and become self sufficient in little time. They would take years to grow and mature, and they wouldn’t be as strong as us. Even looking back now, when I was in the hospital, trying to take Ella with me not knowing she would grow rapidly would have lead to disaster.I couldn’t look after a baby, I couldn’t supply it with all the needs they had.
*Sigh*
I let out a sigh as my thoughts were disordered, I was still nowhere close to an answer, and the main problem was. They couldn’t grow stronger fast enough. I was going to go down a dangerous path to try and kill a god, and honestly I didn’t want to drag them with me. They had their own lives to live. And right now they couldn’t survive if I left them.
‘I have an Idea Brother.’
Ella’s voice appeared in my head as I was thinking, I turned back to look at her and my gaze met her white eyes. The girl she was holding was also looking this way.
I forgot some times that she could read my mind when I wasn’t guarding it. She told me her idea as I listened intently.
I was shocked for a few minutes after she finished talking. Her idea was daring and fixed all the problems I had thought of. I turned back to look at the 3 boys and the other girl that had stopped crying by now. In the end it would be up to them, I wouldn’t force upon them such an important decision.
‘Ok gather up’
Ella nodded at my words and picked the one girl up, coming over. Rose patted the other girl on the back and moved her over to the boys. In a few seconds they were gathered before me. I didn’t say anything as a small token appeared in my hand. I looked down at it for a few seconds, as it glowed a dull blue. Thinking to myself and finding my resolve I put it away and stared at the children.
“Look kids, I can’t look after you.”
At my words 2 of the boys had their faces pale and the other 3 were in despair. They knew what it would mean if I left them. They could possible end up in the same situation as before. I felt Rose frown next to me, but she also heard Ella’s plan and didn’t say anything. She was just unhappy that I would even suggest letting them go back to such a life.
“But.”
I held up my hand before they thought too much.
“I can help you get stronger.”
Slowly one by one, starting with the girl that had fainted and cried for help, their eyes lit up, and a glow come back to them which I hadn’t seen present before.
“Even with me helping you get stronger, there is no guarantee that life will become better, or that you will be able to turn your life around, maybe even get revenge?”
I don’t know why I added that last part, somewhere in the back of my mind I knew the suffering and pain they had been through. To become a slave, however it happened, it would cause resentment towards somebody. And that resentment I could empathies with.
As I thought adding those words at the end, one or two of them had their eyes turn ablaze, fury flickering deep within, determination bubbling to the surface.
“There is one thing that I can guarantee will make you stronger, as strong as us!”
They were engrossed in my words as they thought of the power we wielded, with it they wouldn’t have to suffer again. Their bodies shook in excitement.
“But it would mean giving up being human.”
My words were like a bucket of water as their bodies froze. This was a decision they had to make, I could give them power beyond anything they could dream off, but it would come at a price, like everything did.
I stared at the 5 kids as they retreated into their own thoughts determining if I was worth it. It wasn’t long before the first person stepped forwards and shouted.
“I am Willing.”
I used analyze on the girl that stepped forwards. She was the person that screamed for help, the one with the greatest determination. It was no joke the willpower needed to take a leap of faith and ask for help when needed. If I was a bad person that didn’t care when she called for help, then she could have been killed or worse. In my head I knew she would be the first.
Name: Erica
Race: Human
Sex: Female
Age: 8

She stepped forwards and got to her knees crying. I could see the hunger for power in her eyes and light for revenge. She bowed her head, eyes watering as she shouted those words.
Following her the other girl stepped forwards and bowed.
“I’m Willing!”
Then finally the boys also got to their knees and all screamed out.
“I’m Willing!”

I looked over their information after seeing their determination and truly grew disgusted at the Danger guild. I got a brief description from their own mouth on what happened to each of them. The guild used children at such a young age for manual labor just because they were cheaper than adults.
I felt my anger grow as I heard the information, especially pertaining to what was happening to ‘Natives’, Rose who was next to me was also raring to go. The town they were bought from was down south, in the same direction that we needed to go. I promised to make a detour to it on the way.
But with our current power I wasn’t sure we would be able to do anything to them. If they were like the empire, their levels would be higher than ours easily, and they had a lot of advantages.
I would deal with that later. For now the kids had lined up.
Seeing that they were ready I motioned towards Ella.
