A God’s Apocalyptic Entertainment - Chapter 170 The Right Time
A small projection was hovering in the air, the picture in the middle showed a cart moving through a grassy plain. Sitting atop the cart where 3 people, two with black hair and one with green.
A person stood in front of the projection and his eyes narrowed. A small bead of sweat fell down his forehead as he squinted his eyes. He continued to do this repeatedly until, with a loud gasp of breath, the projection shattered and his body flopped to the ground.
“Urgh.”
Surrounding the person that just flopped to the group was a group of people. They said nothing as the man continued to groan on the floor and just waited. After another few minutes the man on the floor stood up and received a small bottle from those surrounding him.
Taking a large swig of the bottle his cheeks, that had a ghostly pale look to them, brightened up. With that done the man raised a staff to the air and started to chant something. Before long another projection was in front of the group, once again tracking the cart.
Finally one of the people that was staring at the screen spoke.
“They are getting to quite a nice area, in another day they will be in an optimal ambush area.”
No one else said a word for another few minutes before a tall imposing man spoke. He carried himself with an air of command and had a small scar running down his cheek. He was clothed in combat gear that was tussled and worn, showing the fights he had been though in the past.
He looked away from the projection and started to walk in a certain direction, his voice drifted out as he went.
“Gather the men; no one messes with our group! I’ll inform the boss of our progress.”
At the mention of the word “boss” a few in the group shuddered but they all quickly composed themselves. They had all heard the tale of Travis who had gone to inform their boss about this particular target. It was safe to say none of them would see Travis again.
The projection dispersed and the group disbanded into different directions each having something to do.
The commander didn’t pay them any attention as he made his way to a tent that was propped up on the grass plain. It was a command tent and could easily hold a group of people. 2 guards that were at the front stiffened as the commander approached and opened the flap for him.
He walked in slowly and saw no one else inside. Moving over to a desk he sat down and pulled out his EPC. He riffled through his contacts in the guild before he reached the bosses’ personal channel. Looking at the options he had before him, he wavered for a few seconds before pressing a button.
*Beep*
“What is it?”
It wasn’t long before a small beep came from his EPC, and the cold voice of his boss appeared. A small chill went down the man’s spine as he heard her tone. He had faced down many a foe in his days and killed numerous monsters, but he would never piss off his boss.
Putting on his best serving tone he replied.
“I hope I have not disturbed you in any way boss….”
“Geerard…”
He froze as he was interrupted; if his men were to see him they would be shocked. They would have never seen their commander as nervous as he was right then and there.
“..I told you to call me Rayleen~, even Ray if you wanted~”
Her voice that was once cold had turned sickeningly sweet and that worried Geerard even more, he knew what happened when she started to talk like this. He tried to keep the tremble out of his voice as he readdressed her.
“Miss Rayleen I wouldn’t dare!”
And he truly wouldn’t!
“Aww your no fun~”
You could almost hear the pout in her voice as she responded, but right after those words she turned cold once again, this time even worse than before.
“So why did you contact me? Even started a voice chat?”
Geerard calmed his nerves as he started to report.
“Yes! We have found the target that has been hindering our operation. He just left the town of Darlt a few days ago and is heading for the dungeon! We are tracking him now and will be ambushing him tomorrow.”
“Hmmm.”
Geerard said nothing as she dissected his words; the silence was just starting to get uncomfortable when.
“What does the target look like?”
Geerard having worked with his boss for a while now wasn’t even surprised at the question and started to list off details.
“He is handsome per say with a tall and lean build. He has dark back hair and different colored pupils. He has a scar over his left eye and a commanding presence. I couldn’t gather more as we couldn’t get too close.”
*Hehe*
A small giggle came over the device and Geerard shook at the innocent sound, he was starting to feel sorry for the target they were tracking, but he had been taking out his men so he deserved whatever the boss could give out.
“Too bad about the scar though, they always mess up the pretty faces…well sometimes it makes them look better… you could almost hug them~….”
She started talking to herself and he didn’t have the guts to interrupt. She had started a mini debate with herself and kept agreeing and disagreeing with certain things. This continued on for another 30 minutes before she stopped.
“Any other important information?”
Geerard let out a small breath of relief.
“Yes! He is traveling with a merchant from one of the new guilds in town, I didn’t get the name. They seem to be in some sort of contract. I don’t know much about his other companions. One of them is green haired and I heard rumors she might be a type of sentient monster.”
“Oh…continue.”
“While his other companions are hidden in the back of the cart. From what our spies could tell, there is a group in the back with a silver type of hair, but that was all they could see…”
“SILVER HIAR!!!!”
The enraged shout and over eagerness of the voice scared the poor man silly as he fell down from his chair, looking with disbelief at the device on his arm.
“WAS THERE ANYTHING ELSE ABOUT THEM?!?!”
“n-N-no! We couldn’t get any more information about these companions!”
“Tch. Useless! I will come down personally to see this ambush, if you disappoint me at any time during the course of events…well I think it might be time for a new commander…someone more competent.”
*Beep*
With those words she cut the channel and Geerards’ body couldn’t stop shaking. The surprise from her sudden outburst that he had never seen before, to the bombshell that she herself would be coming to watch the ambush.
He knew her well enough to know when she was joking. She wasn’t this time; she would kill him and appoint a new commander if something went wrong. It had been a long time since the Boss had actually come to an ambush or raid, Geerard was mainly stunned that she would come herself.
“What happened?”
He talked to himself quietly as he rose to his shaky feet. He steadied himself on the table before shaking his head. He hadn’t even gotten to tell her the most important piece of extra information. There were garbled reports that the target they were after was a ‘High Human’, Honestly the reports were so vague and shoddy that he didn’t believe them himself, but he was going to tell her just in case.
But she had hung up on him before he could.
*Sigh*
There was no way the target could be a ‘High Human’!
Determination filled his eyes and a fire lit under him as he rushed out the tent and set things into motion. He quickly pulled up his EPC and pulled in some favors. He couldn’t mess up the next day, if he did, he will be a goner.
“Damn psychotic Bitch”
He mumbled those words under his breath as he went about finding the right moment, the right time for them to strike.
