247 Ch. 247 Is Jamie Her Birth Mother?
“Diego? You’re going to the united states?”
“Of course not. Your cousin is here. Don’t you know that?”
Richard was about to reply when he felt movement from outside the balcony, and Anxia also noticed it, so they both decided not to make a sound. The man got up and walked quickly towards the balcony, wearing his glasses. His steps were so light that they almost made no sound. Even Anxia herself couldn’t hear her husband’s footsteps which astonished her. She had no idea that her husband had been hiding his true abilities!
By the time Richard hid behind the wall near the balcony door where Anxia was hiding before, someone from outside opened the balcony door. Before the intruder could enter, Richard had already punched the person right in the nose.
That person groaned in pain, feeling his nose bone broken, and just as he was about to find out who the attacker was, his chest was kicked by a leg, pushing him until his head hit the back of a long metal chair. n()𝔬𝒱-𝐄𝗅-𝗎𝑆𝑩)𝒸-𝑜,𝑀
Because he wasn’t ready to receive the kick and wasn’t good at maintaining his balance, the intruder’s body swayed backward as his head felt dizzy from the hard concussion. Not long after, the intruder fell unconscious.
“Hmm. Why would they send such an incompetent person?” Richard muttered, realizing this person was neither a skilled intruder nor a professional killer like Anxia.
Then his eyes caught a black device like a bug that had fallen next to the leg of the chair. He picked up the black tool with his black-gloved hand.
“Richie, who’s that guy?”
…..
“Who knows? This guy was already sneaking up this balcony when I came. It seems he wants to install this device into your room.”
Anxia frowned at her husband’s explanation. So the first voice she heard was someone sent by her mother before her husband arrived?
“This isn’t my room; it’s Elliot’s. My mom had a bugging device in my room, so I decided to talk to Elliot in his room. But apparently, she still suspects me, so she sent someone to eavesdrop on our conversation.”
“Why did she do that?”
“We will both know the answer once the results of these three items are out.”
Richard glanced at the large plastic bag he had been carrying with him, and using his analytical mind; he began to guess what his wife was looking for.
“Let me guess. This red toothbrush is yours, and the silver side that looks expensive is your mother’s. Then this plain black comb is Jamie?”
“Good boy.” Anxia raised her right hand to pat her husband’s head as if she was patting her son.
“Am I a child?”
“You act like one in front of me, though.”
“Fine, I won’t argue with you.” Richard’s answer made Anxia chuckle.
“So you suspect that Loraine Shu is not your mother but Jamie? I thought you still remembered your mother’s face.”
“I can’t remember, but she has our family picture from when I was young.”
“Then she is your mother unless she isn’t from the start.”
“That’s what I thought. Can you do it for me?”
“Sure. I’ll have my team investigate immediately. About Diego… I didn’t know he was in Etros. What are your plans after infiltrating his house?”
Anxia smiled happily that her husband would listen to her and grant her wish. After discussing their plans briefly and clearly, Richard decided to let Anxia stay for a few more days as he could not bear to leave Elliot alone in the rattlesnake nest.
“I have to go now and get back to my team.”
“Okay.”
Richard glanced at his son peeking through the balcony door, then walked back inside to meet Elliot.
“Elliot, I’m leaving first, but I want you to know… from now on, I won’t take my eyes off you. Even though I’m not here with you, I’m always watching you secretly. Thus, no matter what happened over the next few days, no matter how dire the situation in this place was… you need not be afraid. I’ll make sure no one can harm you.”
Elliot nodded his head once and worked up the courage to hug his father’s neck, making Richard smile happily and pick him up, earning a squeal of joy from his son.
Afterward, Richard walked out and handed Elliot over to Anxia before kissing his wife’s cheek and son’s forehead.
Richard threaded a plastic bag containing three different objects into the inside pocket of his black vest, then reactivated the X-sharp eye program and informed the waiting team members that he would be at the rendezvous point in five minutes.
“See you in a few days.” that was Richard’s last sentence as he winked an eye and flashed a seductive smile before jumping over the balcony railing and running into the darkness.
Elliot and Anxia were still staring in the same direction even though they couldn’t see the man’s back anymore.
“Mama…”
“Yeah?”
“I’ve already decided.”
“Decide what?”
“I want to be like papa when I grow up!”
Anxia laughed heartily at her son’s words. Then they both went back into the room to sleep regardless of the man who was unconscious in an uncomfortable position while blood was flowing from his nose.
The two still didn’t feel sleepy because they were too happy to meet Richard. Ultimately, they chatted for a few more minutes before Elliot dropped the bomb on his mother.
“Mama, is it true that Aunt Jamie is my real grandmother?”
“…” Now Anxia understood Richard’s feelings, who often complained and hoped Lori wasn’t too intelligent and perceptive to her surroundings.
She also hoped that her son would not be too clever and immediately pick up on the adults’ conversation.
What kind of answer should she give? Anxia also wished that Jamie was her biological mother, but… if that were the case, Anxia would regret giving her baby girl a name after her ‘fake’ mother.
Although she no longer felt the same warmth, Loraine Shu had once given her everything. Thus, no matter what the outcome, Anxia would not be disappointed if it turned out that Loraine Shu was indeed her biological mother.
“I will save it for another day. Let’s go sleep now.” Anxia pulled her son’s tiny figure and wrapped him in her arms.
Surely, tonight was the happiest night in Elliot’s five years of life.
