A Mere Fate Of Mine - Chapter 3
“Hahaha! Kid, sure you know to use that little mouth of yours huh! Haha!” Sure enough, those words from Lucien really put Gibbs in a good mood.
Lucien tried to make use of this opportunity. “Big bro can use dagger, right? I think a dagger is the coolest of all weapon! Can big bro show me some move?”
“Hm?” Gibbs stopped laughing. He started to sweat when he heard the boy’s request. ‘Hell! Although I’m a 2nd Class, my class is a f*cking Herbalist! I’m just here to collect herb by my master’s order. What f*cking move can I show with my meager dagger mastery skill! This dagger is for collecting herb!’
Meanwhile, Lucien turned serious. ‘Has he become suspicious? Dammit, I was too rush!’
Although Lucien was confident at acting and grasping people’s mind, he was too young and could make mistake which he himself was aware of. Excluding his dad, he had only used his acting skill at his school. When he was fourth grade, he stole everyone’s erasers in the class and acted like his was stolen too. He even yelled and threaten to kill the eraser thief’s whole family. The culprit became a mystery till today’s date.
As a careful person, Lucien made himself be ready to turn and run anytime.
Not knowing his action had cause a misunderstanding, Gibbs came into conclusion. ‘What am I thinking so much of! How can he see through my skill. Let just show him some flashy move with my stat. I can’t lose my face after all.’
“Sure kid!” The man smiled. He pulled
out his dagger. “I don’t normally show off my skill but you are special, kid. Watch carefully.”
‘Phew~ I was tensed up for nothing.’ Lucien felt a bit relief.
The dagger glowed, Gibbs slashed at the air in front of him.
“Wind Slash!” yelled Gibbs loudly. He tried to look as cool as possible.
Boom!
A transparent energy came out and hit the tree in front of them. The tree shook and its bark flew off like it had been hit by something hard.
“Wahh~ So cool~ That’s a magic, right? So strong! I want to use magic too!” Lucien didn’t forget to exclaim like an excited kid. Well, he was actually very excited right now.
‘Haha! Intelligent is my main stat you know?’ Gibbs gloated inside.
“I want to see it again! Can I see it again please~” Lucien begged.
“Sure! Wind Slash!”
Boom! Boom! Boom! Clash!
Gibbs hit until the tree fell. He was feeling fresh. As a slave, weak non-combat class and on of the lowest level in Abyss, he didn’t have a chance to show off at all. He only some basic combat skill bought from magic store. All he got in the town was being looked down. The situation right now was enough to make him careless. Yes, carelessness in Abyss was a ban for anyone.
buzzzzzz~~~
Suddenly, 5 blood red bees flew out of the clashed tree. They were 10 times bigger than normal bee and had 3 stingers sticking out out its butt. One of the bee attacked the enemy who destroyed its sweet home at the wrist.
Clank!
The dagger fell 3 meters away.
“D-demonic blood bee!” Gibbs shouted in shock. He didn’t think the tree he clashed actually was a demonic blood bee nest.
Lucien’s mind spun quickly. Although it was a pity he didn’t manage to get more information about Abyss, he felt like the situation is god-sent for him to run away. He didn’t know if there is going to be another opportunity for him in the future and he didn’t want to bet on it with his poor life on the line.
Lucien quickly opened the status menu and dumped every free stat points he had into agility which made it 10. Without further hesitation, he then picked up the dagger and run away.
“Hey kid! What the hell are you doing!” Dodging the bee’s attack, Gibbs turned back and saw the ‘innocent’ kid took his dagger and ran away. The kid action was so firm that made him realised that he had been conned by this damn kid.
“Dammit! This f*cking kid! I will f*cking killed him!” Gibbs vented in frustration. It was very hard for him to dodge all these bees. He didn’t even had a weapon to fight. However, who was he? He was a herbalist and had been collecting herb in this jungle for years. Of course he had a solution.
Gibbs pulled something out of his pouch. It was a circular shape object size of thumb. He held it in his hand and chanted.
puff!
The object turned into a smoke around him making all the bees fell to the ground. Unfortunately, it was not without a cost. He got three more holes on his waist, right leg and his shoulder, bleeding him profusely. At least, there was no lethal wound.
“You can’t run, kid! I will chase you, kill you and kill your whole damn family with my fucking herbalist class!” Gibbs shouted viciously and started chasing the kid. His voice shook the trees around him.
“Fuck!” Lucien couldn’t help but cursed when he saw the scene. It was only 20 seconds since he started running and the fight was already over.
He was so astonished when he saw the bees. I thought he couldn’t fight them. Argh! Lucien was so frustrated. With his weak body in addition to running in the forest, he was only around 100 meters from that SLAVE MAN. Dammit! It’s too late to regret! I have to tried my best getting away now!
Lucien ran as fast as he could. He focused all his sense on the path he was running. Even the pinging system notification saying that he got a skill didn’t come into his line of sight at all.
Unfortunately, his determination couldn’t overcome the different in status. Although Gibbs was hurt with four hole on his body and blood flew out of him at the scary rate, the gap between the two slowly shortened.
Lucien was now full of scratch from tree branch and bushes. Blood even started to seep out from his numerous tiny wound. Boo! It hurts so much!
As a young boy from modern society, pain was not at all something he used to. He bit his teeth so hard that it made a cracking sound. The rubber of his sandals were already severed from running on the floor full of pebbles. He was now running with his bare feet and had stepped on many sharp stones. His feet were covered in blood making deep red footprint on the ground. Layers of tears formed in his two cute eyes.
Pant~ Pant~ Lucien’s breath had become so chaotic that he felt like he couldn’t breath any more. Regret also comes in pairs, huh? Now he also regretted didn’t spare any stat point on endurance. He could only tried his best not to fall with all his might. A few minutes felt like eternity for him.
After around 5 minutes, The gap had been shrunk to 50 meters. Lucien looked at his back seeing that he had no way to flee from the wound man behind him, his eyes was full of despair.
Meanwhile, Gibbs was so frustrated that he had to spend so much time just to chase a level 0 kid. In his normal condition he would already caught the kid in at most two minutes. Not to mention that he had a non combat class. People with one would have catch the kid in a matter of seconds. If someone knew he was so trouble by a level 0 kid as a 2nd classer, he would be mocked to death. Just you wait, kid! You won’t die a good death.
As if god had sided with him, when the gap was shortened to 30 meters, the kid fell on the ground. His head crashed into the rock, blood flowing from his forehead.
“dad…mom… help..me..” Lucien mumbled weakly. He struggled with all his might to stand up. His blood formed a pool on the ground he was laying. The picture of his little body struggling was so heartbreaking.
With a rather high perception, Gibbs could hear the boy’s mumbling. Coupled with the boy’s condition, he was sure the boy couldn’t run anymore. Making this far was already considered miracle. Of course, he was also exhaust. His wound was not minor after all. He only made it up here contributed by his 2nd class vitality and endurance stats. He smiled as we walked slowly to the boy, step by step.
The man’s step was loud and clear in Lucien’s ear. It was like a grim reaper coming to reap away his life. He slowly stand up. He looked so exhausted that he couldn’t stand straight. He slowly lifted his dagger in his hand. His body was shaking so hard.
“What a cunning kid. To actually con me when you are just a level 0 trash, you got some gut, huh.” Gibbs was slowing his breath as he stood in front of the boy. Seeing the boy even struggling to stand, Gibbs had already calmed down. Instead of killing the kid, he would rather vent some anger on him and giving him to his master as he originally plan. That would make him live comfortably for a while.
“don’t..come…or…I’ll..kill…you..” The boy said weakly. Two streaks of tears flowing on his dirt-stained cheeks.
“Awww~ What a pitiful kid! You want to stab me with those shaking hands?” Gibbs mocked the child shamelessly. How old is he already? He even lowered his body and point at his neck with a finger. “Come come, let your uncle tasted your move, haha!”
Shnk!
Gibbs’ eyes widened in an extreme shock. The stab came in fast and silence. It gave him no time to react. Of course, Gibbs might seem like an overconfident idiot pointing at his neck. Actually, he was ready to use his hand to block anytime if the boy were to stab him in the neck. What caught him off guard, however, was that the boy stabbed a knife, using his lifting as a blind spot, straight into his armpit.
The second the knife hit its target, the blood rained. It bursted out so much that his wounds inflicted by the bees seemed like a joke.
“FUCK!”
BOOM!
The blood soaked man, knowing he would be dead for good, punched the kid in front of him with all his might, shattering the boy’s little chest.
The last scene Gibbs saw was the boy lying still on the pool of blood, then his vision turned black…
