A Mere Fate Of Mine - Chapter 35
Lucien took out a few bottles of health potions and gulped them down. As he spared his time brewing potions once in a while, he had stockpiled many potions in his spatial pouch.
The injuries he received were quite severe. Even with the potions, he still needed some time before being fully healed. Walking to the nearby store, he stole a big cloak to cover himself.
The sky was already dark although it was still 3pm. Everyone thought the rain was coming soon so they quickly moved into the building, being unaware of what was going to happen.
Still in his concealment, Lucien returned to where the group of his school was, in the supermarket.
He could see Rina was walking around with ice-creams in her hands, looking for him. However, he could only ignore her for now.
Floating around his body were the shining feathers and spears. He had been focusing on the certain direction all the time.
Not long after, the rain started pouring down with the chaotic storm. The wind gushed strongly, blowing strongly.
Some people started to pray as they saw the ominous cloud and weather. There was no weather forecast about this storm at all. Moreover, during this time of the year, there was normally no storm.
Lucien jumped to the rooftop solemnly. The blood on his body was already cleaned from the rain water. Although his whole body was still hurt, he stood there straight, holding a spear in one hand.
The strong gale had no effect on him because of his Grace of the Wind. Instead of hindering his movement, it boosted his speed.
He could see them. Many humanoid monsters were walking this way. There were more than a hundred of them.
They had a vicious look with dark skin and brown fur, camouflaging them in the surrounding. With four long sharp claws on each hands, the monsters killed any people they passed by.
The screams of despair rang out but were covered by the storm. The blood was also washed away. Only Lucien could barely hear the screams with his perception.
Lucien obviously knew their target as they were walking to his way.
‘Kiyomori Shin, huh? And here I am, a plot armor.’
Although the other side hated him, Lucien just couldn’t let the hero of the world die here.
‘Save the child of fate’
That was what the big lion told him when its eyes met his.
“That thing is Shisa?” mumbled Lucien.
Shisa is the God that protect Okinawa recorded in the mythology. There were statues of Shisa everywhere in Okinawa.
They look similar to Chinese guardian lion, often seen in similar pairs, resembling a cross between a lion and a dog. Shisa could be classified as gargoyle beasts.
People believed that Shisa ward off evils which led to them placing Shisa on their rooftop or flanking gates to their house.
Lucien had heard a few legends about them since he came here.
Cough! Cough!
Lucien coughed out some blood as the injuries acted up again. The pain he received this time was very weird and he didn’t know how to describe it. Even potions were barely able to suppress it.
‘I should ask Alicia when I get back. Then, I will punch that fucking lion in the face one day.’
Seeing those monsters coming closer and closer, when they walked into his range, Lucien started his assault.
“A Night full of Stars”
Numerous tiny stars floated up covering a radius of hundreds of meters around him, brightening his surrounding. However, the skill was concealed so no one could sense it.
Although it was dimmer than usual because of the rain, his power still increased from the light buff.
Splash!
Activating Twilight Edge, Lucien threw the light spear to one of the monsters, piercing through its head in an instant. Moreover, without losing the momentum, the spear pierce through the other three behind, killing them all in one shot.
With his superior stats, buff from light, and a buff from Surpasser title, he could one shot them easily.
However, their number was not to be taken lightly. And because of his injuries, Lucien coughed up blood again. The pain inside his body was really a torture.
The level 100s Pain Resistance didn’t help him at all.
After the first strike, his concealment worn off. The monsters then swarmed at him after recognising the culprit.
“Ahhhh!”
“Runn! Quickly Run!”
“Monsters!!! There are so many monsters!!”
People in the cars were astonished as they saw the sea of scary monsters. They quickly abandoned their cars and went to hide in the building. Those who were too slow to notice the situation were killed by the monsters right away.
Without his concealment, A Night full of Stars was now visible as well, turning the place bright.
Those who thought they were safe filmed the phenomenon with their phones. As expect from social network era, most of people had their phones ready in the hands.
In the middle of stars and rain, they could only see the blurry cloaked figure, throwing the white spears, killing several monsters in each shot.
The mysterious man’s actions were very fast for normal people to grasp. They could only see the blur of his arms and the monsters exploded into pulp.
“G-G-God..”
“I-Is that Mysterious Hero of Naha?”
“…!!”
Not caring about the people, Lucien kept throwing spears after spears. He drank mana potions every now and then as casted Holy Feather of Spear Immunity.
With the holy feathers floating around him and the stars, he really looked like an angel sent by heaven in people’s eyes. The only thing that reminded people that he was still a human was the ‘I Love Okinawa’ cloak that he was wearing.
His fashion was so unbelievable but with all the props, people couldn’t take their eyes off him.
Although he had been killing dozens of monsters, the number didn’t seem to decrease one bit. Lucien also couldn’t see the end of this wave.
When the furred monsters approached sixty meters away from him, Lucien stopped throwing his spear.
‘Accolade’
Boom!
With a swing of his spear, he sent a crescent wave of energy blade, killing almost twenty monsters in an instant. Blood spouted like a fountain, painting the road dark red.
Every held their breath seeing this scene. Even the monsters were stunned for a second. Lucien’s power was too shocking.
ROARRRR!!!
The monsters then roared loudly as they charged toward him altogether.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Waves after waves, Lucien swung his spear with one hand and drinking the mana potions with another as Accolade costed him a lot more mana than Twilight Edge.
The distance really held no significance by his skill. More than a hundred of monsters died in a few second.
However, the range was a bit short. It only took several seconds for the monsters to cross sixty meters, reaching him.
Lucien could see the monsters in every directions. His vision was covered by the brown fur and glimmering sharp claws. It was the first time he had to deal with this many monsters at the same time.
Because the monsters from Abyss were too strong, Lucien only fought severals of them at most. And those were the lower second class ones.
Although he one shot every monsters here, their number was just too many. Lucien stopped using Accolade as he couldn’t keep drinking the mana potions in this circumstance.
With only Empower and Wind Reinforcement, he swept this place like a storm. Most monsters couldn’t react at all before their bodies were cut in half.
It might look easy but Lucien wasn’t unscathered either. The blades were swung in every direction at him which was impossible for him to dodge them all at once.
Roarrrr!!
Still, most claws were blocked by the shining feathers before it could hit him. As expect of the Legendary skill, Holy Feather of Spear Immunity was a cheat.
There was no tactic in this fight. He just killed them with his overwhelming power. The differences between their individual powers were too great.
If he was not injured, Lucien believed that he could fight for hours like this. Although he was exhausted, Lucien’s mind was very focusing. He sunk into the state of only killing was matter to him.
As the time passed, his spearmanship became even more natural and precise. Each blow of his hits the targets accurately, killing fews in a swing.
Everyone held their breath as the saw the one side killing. No one said anything as they watched this unbelievable scene.
Except the occasional roars from the monsters and the sound of wind and rain, everything else was silence. Even Lucien didn’t shout like a protagonist like he always did. He was so absorbed in the fight, no, in killing.
His cloak had long been dyed red as blood lithered on the ground, forming a large pool.
No one knew how long, but before they noticed, the roars had already stopped.
On the road only stood a figure with a few cracked dimming light feathers floating around him.
He stood there drinking a vial of colorful liquid with numerous small injuries on his body. There was a long deep wounds on his right calf and back. The spear had already disappeared in his hand after the last monster dropped on the ground, headless.
Gulp
No one knew if the gulping sound was from him or one of the observers around.
The soldiers who had arrived for a while only held their guns still, not doing anything. They were all shocked.
Thud
Lucien sat on the ground, exhausted. Although the potions could refill his health, mana and stamina, the mental strain was a bit too much, giving him a good headache.
The rain and storm gradually dissipated away as the dark cloud was dissipersing. A streak of warm light of the sunset shone over the city again.
ROARRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!
However, an earth-shaking woke suddenly woke everyone up from the mesmerising.
BAM!!
A gigantic monster landed on the ground loudly from the sky out of nowhere, sending shock waves everywhere. The car under its foot exploded, but the explosion only left a light burn mark on its skin.
The monster was taller than the five-story building. It had an appearance of a porcupine, but greatly uglier. The thorns on its back pointed at the sky as its eyes were bright red.
ROARRRRR!!!!
The giant porcupine roared dreadfully. Its voice broke every windows and glass in the surrounding.
“Ahhhhh!!!”
“Nani!! There is more!!!”
“Oh my Kami-sama!! It’s so big!”
The people around quickly ran for their life, however, many of them were either died from the scattered glass or pushed by own fellow human onto the broken shards.
Although it was a few hundred meters away from him, Lucien could see the porcupine clearly. He sighed as he stood slowly stood up.
The monster charged toward him, to be precise, its aim was the supermarket behind him. As expect of our trouble-bringer the child of fate, Kiyomori Shin, he brought troubles just by simply existing.
“Hahh,” sighed Lucien again. “This should be the last one, right?”
tadadadadada!
The soldiers were shooting the bullets with every weapons they had but they couldn’t pierce through its skin no matter what.
Well, as the monster’s advantage over human was its physical ability, the defensive capability from this obviously boss grade monster was to be expected.
“We need to buy time for Hero-sama!!”
“Yoshaa!!!”
“Fighto!! Hero-sama!!!”
Hearing the cheers, Lucien’s lips curved up in amusement. ‘I shall make it big then, haha.’
A light spear formed in his hand as he lowered his stance. A streak of bright light then illuminated from the tip of his spear.
The second light formed after a few second, then, third and forth. Each light had its own beautiful colors as it mixed together. The air around him distorted as the temperature increased by several degrees.
‘I might not have power to run away later so let’s go with four’ thought Lucien as he looked at the humongous monster before him.
‘Die, you last boss!’
“G*IA B*STER!!!”
Finally, with a shout like a protagonist landing his finishing blow, Lucien thrusted his spear forward, sending winds in every directions.
The time seemed to stopped in the presence of this power. Everything was silence as everyone felt suffocated.
BOOOOOOOMMM!!!
The monster’s whole body was engulfed by the white holy light as it was burned into ash without given a chance to cry.
As Lucien had to direct his power to the sky or else he would destroy all the buildings, the porcupine was only left with its fat four legs.
The beam shot through the cloud, drawing a line in the sky.
Everyone was shocked for a while before a cheer of joy broke out. However, they couldn’t find there Hero anymore.

Under the tree in the garden beside Shuri Castle, Lucien was lying on the ground. His eyes closed peacefully as he was feeling the wind.
Tap Tap
Hearing the footsteps, Lucien opened his eyes slowly. Seeing the person approaching him, he smiled unconsciously.
The figure sat on the ground next to him and put his head on her laps.
“You’ve worked hard, Lulu,” said Alicia softly.
“Umm”
