A Musician’s Tale - Chapter 4

-3rd pov-

Catherine, Skyler, and Melodious were now in front of the line, in front of the big black gilded gate. On the side was Custodia standing guard.

“Those are new.” Said Catherine in awe.

“They’re awesome!” Exclaimed Skyler. “I like the one on the end.” Said Melodious.

“Good evening, Miss Catherine, you and your family are free to enter.” Custodia waved his hand as the gate opened.

The two boys were gawking at the grandness of the gate and the people who were participating. Many men and women who came from all over the world gathered in this grand mansion.

They passed grand gardens and topiaries. The first was shaped like a rabbit wearing a tux and a pocket watch in its front pocket, the next one was a grand dragon with giant claws, bat wings tucked behind it’s back filled with spikes, and a look of pride, next was a lion sitting down looking straight, like it was ignoring the all who passed by, the next one was a grand phoenix the tail was the only thing keeping it up, the tail curled a little leading to the body of the phoenix, wing spread out flamboyantly, and the last was a fox with nine-tails, the fox seemed to look away from the path and to its side, it’s tails looked like gentle waves facing to the right, following the fox’s gaze.

“Really? I like the dragon it’s so cool!” Skyler said gawking at the topiary.

“The tails of the fox look really elegant.” Commented Melodious with shining eyes.

“I like the cute bunny. It reminds me of the white rabbit in Alice in wonderland but more elegant.” Said Catherine laughing.

“We should go inside now instead of gawking at the topiaries all night.” Said Catherine walking ahead.

“Hey! Mom! Wait for us!” Shouted Skyler running to his mother. As Melodious walked to them.

The mansion was just as grand as the gardens if not grander. When they entered the ballroom it was filled with many people wearing clothes ranging from unique to grand, to cute to cool. The boys were starstruck.

When they went down from the grand staircase Catherine had spotted someone familiar. A woman wearing a long green dress, black satin gloves, black lace shawl, and a green emerald broach, also wearing a pearl bracelet, and a matching pearl necklace, and a long feathered hairpiece decorated with rhinestones placed on one side of her head.

“Jade!” Greeted Catherine. “Cather–… Pfft-… Y-you look good in the dress, Catherine,” Said Jade holding back laughter.

Catherine’s smile twitched then she smiled at Jade with a hard glare. “Uhh…” Skyler started to back away slowly.

“Didn’t you design this dress, Jade?” Catherine was boiling mad.

“Oh, yes but it was rushed but you make it look even better than it does, Catherine,” Jade shrugged her shoulders cooly.

“Cool off. Both of you.” Said a beautiful woman with platinum blonde hair, and shining green eyes. She was wearing a dark blue one-shouldered dress with a rhinestone belt, white satin gloves, and a sapphire necklace, with matching earrings.

“Ingrid!” Jade hugged Ingrid happily. “Oh, Ingrid, how are you?” Catherine calmed down and greeted Ingrid awkwardly.

“Nice dress,” Commented Ingrid as Jade stifled a laugh and Catherine just sighed. “Kids? You guys can go mingle with other kids over there. Behave yourselves okay?” Catherine told them smiling. She pointed to a group of kids near a buffet table.

“Of course, mom!” Skyler shouted excitedly.

“I’ll keep him in check.” Said Melodious walking to Skyler.

-Skyler’s pov-

I was so excited to meet other kids who were like me and Melodious. The only friend we had that was actually like us was Kai.

‘Where is Kai anyway?’ I thought to myself. “Hey!” I greeted the group of kids excitedly.

“Oh, hello,” Responded a small girl with light brown eyes and hazel brown hair. “You must be new here, I’m Roberto, but you can just call me Rob,” He said extending his hand for me to shake.

I shook his hand smiling. He had the same hazel hair as the small girl but this guy had blue eyes. “And this is my sister Evelina,” He said patting the small girl’s head.

“Hello, it’s nice to meet you,” I said nicely. ‘If I don’t act proper mom is gonna hit me again…’ I thought solemnly.

“Oh, hey! My name’s Alisa! I’m 13 and I’m from new york! How about you?” Asked a girl with raven black hair.

“My name’s Skyler. Nice to meet you guys! I’m from Miyazaki in japan!” I said excitedly.

“I’m 7 and my brother is 15 we’re from Naples in Italy.” Said Evelina shyly.

“I’m actually from Japan too but I live in Tokyo. Hi, my name’s Himari, I’m 12.” A girl said behind me. She had raven-colored hair.

“I’m Hugo I’m from Barcelona Spain! And I’m 14” Said a boy with dark brown skin and hair with gold eyes.

“Hi! I’m Melaine! 13, from Quezon Philippines!” Said a dark-skinned girl with black hair.

“And I’m her brother Michael, 15.” Said a dark-skinned boy with golden-brown hair. Even if they were from different places they all spoke English fluently and without an accent.

“I’m their big sister Miya, I’m 17, nice to meet you,” Said a tall girl with brown skin kindly.

“It’s really nice to meet all of you guys!” I was so excited being surrounded by all these kids who were like me.

“Hey, do you guys want to play hide and seek in the gardens later?” Asked Melaine.

“Ooh, I want to play too!” Said Evelina.

“Yeah, sure,” Everyone agreed. “Uh, hey guys are there other kids arriving?” I asked curiously.

“Hmm, Carla, Hiro, Lester, and Jaylee, are missing this year.” Said Miya.

“Yes, but at least we have a new friend here!” Said Hugo excitedly.

“Yeah, but I have a brother, a twin brother actually,” I said looking around for him.

“Ooh, a twin?! I’ve never seen twin musicians before!!!” Exclaimed Himari.

“Neither have I,” Said Rob. “I’m sure he’s here somewhere,” Then I saw him, he was busy eating raspberry cupcakes.

“Ah, there he is! Melodious!” I grab him while he was eating his cupcake. “Huh? Hey! Wait a minute!” Before he could finish I dragged him to my new group of friends.

“Hey, guys! This is my brother Melodious!” I excitedly introduced my brother. Then they all went pale.
