A Path Of Bone And Poison - Chapter 143 Unnamed
I immediately felt the magic power in me dim. My body felt heavy, as the mana that coursed through my vains ceased to function. I could only smile wryly as my body felt a burden that I could not hope to bare. I felt like I was suffocating as the mana in the air seemed to reject my existence.
I gasped for air, attempting to fill my empty body with something, anything. All I could hear. all I could sense was the familiar maniacal laughter. I vision soon dimmed.
When I opened my eyes I found myself in a dark room. The ringing of laughter had not stopped, if anything it had intesified. Before me stood 4 figures. These four figures were distinct, and yet different.
The first was a teenage boy. He was average height and looks. He had green eyes and light brown hair. His clothes were rather shabby. He looked at me with a look of disdain, as if I was nothing but garbage.
The second figure was a goblin. She looked young, but had a strong scent of blood surrounding her. The young goblin seemed to be a veteran of sorts, but the strong scent of blood could only be gained from an evil act. Her eyes appeared wild, but the look on her face seemed rather innocent.
The third figure was a dark elf. The woman had a sense of elegance and charm to her. She exuded an aura of sensuality that could captivate any who gazed upon her beautiful face. The woman seemed self absorbed, barely even casting a glance at me, as if I was not worthy of her attention.
The last figure was a draconian woman. She seemed full of power, but had a crazed sense about her. She was the most powerful of the figures, her body and her magical abilities much higher thsn the rest. Yet, despite this she seemed like the most lost of all of them.
I was by no means a genius, I recognized each of the four forms. They were the different bodies I have possessed. The human boy who lived a life of abuse and neglect. The goblin who slaughtered her clan. The dark elf who arrogance led to the death of a city, as well as her own mother. And finally the half dragon who had gone mad. The half dragon who was left alone.
The figures slowly faded away, but they were replaced by something else. Two new figures stood before me. The power these figures exuded was enough to force my body prown. I did not even have the strength to kneel in front of these figures.
Despite this, I could still see the figures in front of me. One was a goblin made of bone. An endless army of the undead stood behind the figure. On his face their was not a single glimpse of arrogance, there was not a sign of anything at all. He did not even bother to look in my direction, and only glanced briefly to the figure on his right.
Though I had never seen who the figure was before I knew who he was. Only a fool would not recognize someone who they had seen a statue of many times in the past. The man wad the God of Archery. The past incarnation of my soul.
I looked hard at the man in front of me. As I did I could feel a cloak of energy covering my body, Giving me the strength to move. I took this chance to struggle to my knees. Even with the added energy of the mantle I was wearing I did not have the power to compete with the figures in front of me. I was far to weak.
The cloak on my back grew heavier the longer I wore it, The warm energy it gave me started to get heavier with each passing moment. I did not even think twice as I threw the cloak at the feet of the God before me. The God looked at me in shock, while the goblin let out a huge grin.
I did not respond to either as I turned my back on the god like beings. Their power was a gift, and it could help me grow strong. But, it was also a curse. It would forever limit my growth, never allowing me to meet or exceed the power of the two figures. I would forever only be a shadow of those two, but never truly be myself.
I let out a sigh ad I walked away from the figures, and before long they disappeared. Behind me I could sense that the original four figures had once again appeared. No, the their was only one figure behind me now. It was a single entity, with the power of all four figures. It was my future, and I knew when I opened my eyes again I will have once again underwent an evolution
