A Path Of Bone And Poison - Chapter 85 The God of Archery
Hylia already knew the skill she wanted. It was a rather expensive skill at 100,000 coins. But we had recieved 50,000 as a result of the battle. Even though she would not be able to purchase a bow she bought the skill immediately, as it was a skill she had always wanted. Getting it half off was a steal!
[Legacy of the Amazons]
The amazons were a proud all female race. They did not need men and neither do you! With this skill you can reproduce with the same gender. Only the same gender. Your body will be able to absorb the necessary DNA through consensual exchange of bodily fluids. Your Descendants will always be of your race, but will absorb the gifts of the other parents race.
She purchased the skill without thinking of the consequences. Only many years after she had purchased the skill had the ramifications of what she had done hit her. With the purchase of this one skill she had created an entire race of lesbians. A race that not only had no need for men, but would only get more powerful the more it bred. But this was a problem for far in the future.
For now she was only happy that she could have children with her wife. In the future of course. There was no way I was going to touch her in that sort of way any time soon. A child was a child, even the goblins knew that. It did not matter if the mind was that of an adult or not.
While we rested I also had time to look over the upgrades I had recieved from that war. I had recieved 30 levels just as she and the rest of my party had. The 50,000 coins were the same as well. What was different is that because of my actions I had earned a title. A title I did not deserve. I could not help but feel guilty over it, but there was nothing I could do about it.
[Hero of Slagstone City]
Your actions of slaying a boss level beast much higher than yourself, and there by saving the survivors of the city is a legendary feat that will forever go down in history. You will recieve a 10% discount from the shop, and recieve 1 free unique legendary skill.
I might not feel that I deserved the title, but that did not mean I would be so stupid as to completely neglect it. Besides the skill had already been delivered.
[Overload] (Unique) (Legendary) (Growth) lvl 1
Pours a portion of the users available mana into a single attack, increasing the damage by a multiple of x per level. (Overloaded spells and abilities cost 2x per level) X= 10× level of Overload.
I could not lie, Overload was a completely over powered ability. Mixed with any of my spells they would become a devastating combination. As I was thinking this my mothers words rang in my mind, and my fingers absently toyed with the pistol on my hip.
I had replaced my Necromancer gloves with the gift my mother had given me. The pistol seemed to fit me much more than the gloves did, it felt natural in my hands. When I examined it I found that my mothers words had been correct. She had changed the name of the pistol, and I could not help but smile when I saw it.
[Laurel’s Momento] (Legendary) (Unique)
A pistol once famed as belonging to the arch mage Laurel Dragonmaw. She gifted it to her daughter.
1. 50% increased cast speed
2. 200% increased power of Arcane Bullets
3. ??
4. ??
The last two abilities were locked. But second ability was definitely meant for the skill My mother had given me. She truly wanted me to step away from the path of necromancy. And I would try, but it would not be easy.
I could only sigh when I compared my off hand weapon to it. It was only the most basic of Wands offering 50% increased cast speed. It was undeserving to be the partner of such a beautiful weapon, but for now it was the best I could do.
I had 50k coins, but it would not be enough to purchase the kind of weapon that deserved to be paired with this, so I could only hold off. However that did not mean I would not spend the coins. No, Since Hylia had made the decision to by that skill for our sake I would need to purchase her a new weapon. After all and archer is nothing without a bow.
I searched for a long time before finally finding a weapon that I could not only afford, but was worthy of the girl. I searched through hundreds of bows, before I finally came across one that I thought was good enough for her. If only just barely.
[Heaven’s Edge] (Mythical)
A bow that once belonged to the God of Archery. The bow was considered lost when the God fell in battle against the Necromancer king. The bow is said to choose its owner, and can only be used by those who have a close connection with the god. The bow can only be used with holy energy
1. The bow shifts its size to fit its owner
2. Arrows are fired at 3x their normal speed
3. Owners accuracy is considered 4x higher when wielding this bow
4. Arrows do 3x their normal speed.
The bow was amazing. Something that an archer could only dream of using. But the requirements of usage were incredibly high. I did some research on the god and found that The god of archery had once been married to the Goddess of war. But had died during the battle between light and dark. His death had prevented the Necromancer King from rising to Godhood. I looked for a long time but I could not find out his name. It was almost as if his existence had been erased.
He was called the God of archery, but in reality he preferred any type of ranged weapons. I could only sigh, if only god had been around to see firearms. He would have loved them. I rubbed the butt of my pistol as I thought this. They were truly a beautiful weapon.
The information was enough. With Hylia been the war Goddess’s avatar no one had a better connection to the bow. She was able to channel holy energy, and she was an archer. The price of the Bow was actually rather cheap, at only 40k coins. It had once been much higher, but after numerous archers buying the bow only to find it was useless in heir hands resold it to the shop.
With my discount I only ended up spending 36k coins on it. With such a bargain I could not help but celebrate at my purchase.
The bow itself was made out of a type of dark wood that radiated holy energy. The bow burned my hands when I touched it, but seemed to glow with a faint power. Something deep inside me wanted to keep this bow, never to let it out of my sights. But the feeling passed as I could feel the bow burning my flesh. I quickly handed the bow to Hylia.
She gave me a beautiful smile as she grabbed the bow from me. The bow seemed reluctant to go to her, the glow disappearing as if left my hands. Or maybe I was just imagining it. The holy energy would not hurt her, it was probably only the bows reaction to my cursed flesh.
When she drew the string I could feel the holy energy being pulled from her body into the steel web that had extended from her spineret. The arrow glowed in a holy light as it flew from the bow, faster than bullets from a gun back on earth. I could only smile at the sight. It seemed I Had not wasted my money after all.
