A Plant’s Life - Chapter 29 Manual adjustments
John used his energy manipulation to strengthen the effect of leadership skill, affecting the entire crowd. The goblins yelled from deep within their spirit, some even attained a light hue, proving ancestor blessing. Then the massacre started, this army of savage beasts left no survivors, killing any member, and eating their dead bodies. John used this opportunity to gather more power until the needed energy had been attained.
John retreated to seclusion again, commanding the system: “System show me my possible growth paths”
He planned to investigate options provided by the system as a reference, and manually enhance this transformation!
[Recalculating future growth path.
1. Ancient hobgoblin, increase in strength, intelligence and wisdom, the main focus is on wisdom
2. Advance archer hobgoblin sharply added a bonus to dexterity
3. Touched by faith, 100% increase for luck attribute
4. 2 headed hobgoblin, stronger constitution, and strength, it has no effect on intelligence or wisdom, the two brains share the same function]
“The improvement of options has not been by a considerable amount, the system limits extravagant race changes. However, I have the time and resources to personally finish this task. Transforming this vessel manually should come much easier after this much experience. Let’s begin.” John thought to himself.
He used small amounts of energy changing the brain first, preventing future shock or complications. All of his efforts would become futile if the vessel ended up with no control, or brain dead. After the brain, came primary organs, they all had to be modified, helping them adjust to ending results of the transformation. John had noticed this deficit previously, the imprint evolution simply pushed some targeted structures, leaving the rest to adjust on their own. This incident had led to some cancerous cells and cloths forming, John had to expand much power, time and dedication to untangle this knot. In this round of transformation, time was of the essence, similar to a patient on the surgery table, the longer hours would put a heavy strain on the body, rising chances of failure. For John, who has had calculated every detail, designing contingency plans for any incident, any change in numbers proved fatal.
Then the force was used to tamper each and every cell, with utmost care. However, this process was done very fast, since John had such phenomenally great level of core and energy manipulation.
The grey hobgoblin was covered by a thin layer of colorful lights, changing his foundation for the better. If other goblins were present, they would mistake this hue with ancestral blessing, except it had different changing colors.
A long time later, a strange monster barely stood within the cave, as it carried the feeling of extreme exhaustion. It had a height of 2 meters, a sturdy muscular body, and relatively small head, decorated completely bald with pointy ears. The monster had a rather small nose, yet big red eyes and mouth, filled with sharp teeth, similar to a saw. John had kept the grey skin intact, as it would help others identify him as a hobgoblin, he still needed the goblin society.
He had changed by many factors, climbing out of the category of goblins. He decided to call his modified version hybrid goblin. Unfortunately, more advancement was not possible at this time, as the body’s potential had been expanded in one sitting. He scanned the vessel for stats.

“It seems as if, the attributes decrease in growth value as the level goes higher. This fact is understandable, as there is a need to make climbing the ladder more accessible and increase control. The advance monsters should think twice before making an enemy of a large crowd, or their end would not be a pleasant one. It acts as an anti-bullying policy, yet in reality, this simple method pushes herd mentality, seeking strength in numbers, preventing individual improvements. This simple scheme decreases many potential threats since the community becomes their best supporter and greatest weakness! There is also some increase in my soul connection and authority as a semi advance creature. I need to find the next subject rather soon, because, this body will stop improving in the near future. But now some time is needed to adjust to new stats and catch my breath. Soon, it will be the time to leave, it would be a shame if I didn’t take everything!”
He slowly walked out of hiding, to check on his subjects. They were found having a celebration, any normal commander would have lost all hope, being depressed at such sight. Instead of training or working on their weapons, they were wasting time, it seemed as if the only point that mattered to them was their leader. If we follow the orders of the supreme one, we will advance as well, this was their mentality. John did not find any issue with such an event, because he was not planning to use this gang of savages for any reason other than cannon fodders and errand runners.
At first, the goblins were shocked by the changes in John’s body, as he was twice their size. But they wisely chose to only admire and not to ask any questions, in fear of offending their lord. So, ignoring any explanations, he simply gave them an errand to run; they were to spread the word, of his might and catch as many prisoners as possible. In exchange, the most contribution would receive a hefty prize. This mandate encouraged these humanoid monsters to howl from excitement and run off after their targets, eyes filled with the green light of greed. The idea of a prize from their leader seemed akin to their wildest dreams.
He then used the period; they were away to train his body more and prepare for some more advancement.
Concealed deep in the shadows, a flash of light passed, showing a faint image of a grey beast. A faint sound of breaking bones could be heard, it sounded daring, implying the disregard for any suffering. This life form was indeed John, suppressing his previous state, evolving like a butterfly.
He examined his vessel for new data
