A Slime In Mcu - Chapter 23
Looking up, I meet the most beautiful eyes in existence, now red with tears.
She, looked at me, stunned for a moment, but regained her worry over her daughter almost immediately.
“Lay her down first. She might have had some injuries.” She shouts
I realise my mistake. Of course, these guys wouldn’t be able to tell her condition, so the first action should be to lay her down and check her breathing.
I let the lady check her daughter, and me making a barrier against the crowd of people looking for a show.
I take a look back at the lady, and each passing moment makes her worry decrease as she checks over her daughter with experienced hands.
A few minutes later, the girl woke up, but the ambulance still wasn’t here.
“Mommy, what happened?” the little girl asked in a cute little voice.
“Oh, dear, you’re awake. You’re okay. Thank God.” She hugged the little girl tightly, relief washing over her, causing a stream of snot and tears to stain her face.
A few minutes of crying and hugging, the lady calmed down enough to think through what happened.
She hand stopped to tie her shoelace for a moment, and the next moment she sees her baby standing by the traffic lights waiting for the light to turn green.
‘What an intelligent child I have.’ She thought.
And that’s when it happened.
She heard the car before she saw it and by the time she could react, the girl was lying in a guy’s embrace unmoving while the car rushed off in the distance hurling insults.
Getting her bearings, she turned towards the man in white, and bowed sincerely. “Thank you for saving her life”
I immediately rush up to stop her from bowing and lift her up. Handing her a couple of tissues, I say to her, “no problem, just doing me. You might wanna wipe up your face. You don’t want the child to worry why her mommy is crying.”
Accepting the tissues, and saying her thanks again, she turns towards the child and tries walking with her to the side of the road.
“Ah”
Suddenly, she yelps out in pain, and falls down.
I rush up to catch her and gently support her. It seems she sprained her ankle a moment ago and she didn’t notice. Now that the adrenaline subsided, the pain kicked it.
“Ah, miss. It seems you have a sprained ankle. Do you want to wait for the ambulance or take a taxi to the hospital?” I ask her as I lead her and the child slowly to the side of the road.
“Its gonna take a long time for the ambulance. Just call a cab.” She replied in laboured breaths.
“Mr. Uncle is mommy ok. Why does she sound hurt?” the little girl questioned in a cute voice, forgetting all about the incident from just a minute ago.
“Darling, mommy’s fine. We’ll just go to a fun place in a minute ok, then we’ll go for ice cream, alright?” the lady said to the girl, suppressing her pain and talking in a sweet voice.
“Yay, ice cream. Is Mr. Uncle going to come as well?” the girl asked curiously leading to the lady in my arms remember that I was still helping her to the side of the road.
“I’ll take you guys to the hospital. You don’t seem to be in any condition to take care of the girl or yourself for that matter.” I say sternly.
I see her hesitating for a moment, before she nods, and thanks me quietly, almost like a whisper.
I think it was just my imagination, but I thought I saw her blush a little bit.
Whistle
I called out for a taxi and carry the lady into the backseat and help her with the seat belt. The girl climbs in and we move towards the nearest hospital.
.
While waiting in the resting area and filling out the forms for both of them under my name, I hear my name being called out.
“Mr. Leukos, the child is safe, and no signs of injury could be seen. The lady however has a stage 2 ligament tear in her left ankle. You can go inside now.” Came the voice of a nurse.
Thanking her, I walk into the outpatient area, and see the little girl standing beside a bed.
I make my way over.
“How are you feeling miss? They say its just a little bit of ligament damage, it’ll heal up in a few weeks.” I downplay the severity a bit to avoid freaking her out.
“I’m doing fine. How about you mister. You jumped in front of the car, you didn’t get hurt, did you?”
“Not at all. I’m perfectly fine, so is your daughter.” I reply politely.
“Ah, yes. Thank you again for saving my daughter. I’m Lily. Lily Lancaster. And this sweet little demon is Emily.” She introduces.
“I’m Lucifer. Nice to meet you.” I reply.
“Lucifer, like the Devil.” The little girl asked in wonder.
“Exactly, like the devil.” I playfully reply, bumping her little nose, getting a little laughter from her.
“Well, thank you Lucifer. But I think I should get going. It’s getting rather late and I don’t want to trouble you anymore than I have already.” She says.
“Nonsense, no trouble at all. Let me help you up. I have already checked you out of the hospital, you just have to sit back and relax at home now. You have to rest up that ankle. Now, is there anyone that I can call to pick you up?” I reply immediately.
“Ah, about that. I don’t have anyone to pick me up at the moment. Ill just call up a cab or something and get back home.”
“nonsense, in your condition, it’s hardly enough to walk, where are you going to get a cab. My cars outside, let me drop you off how about that.” I suggest politely.
“No no no. That’s okay ill go back on my own.”
This back and forth continued until I eventually won, and pushing her wheelchair out of the hospital and towards the garage.
I had great sage bring around the car to the hospital since I didn’t feel like walking back home.
“Wow is that your car. What brand is it. I’ve never seen one like this.” Lily exclaimed when she saw my car.
“It’s a new brand. The model hasn’t been released yet to the public.” I answer as I open the door.
The door opens up like the wings of a butterfly, upwards.
I help her up and place her in the passenger seat and help her with the seatbelt again.
After helping Emily out and tucking her in the back, I start the car.
Vroom, vroom.
The car echoes in the garage, and I take off towards her house.
Coincidently, she stays in Manhattan, an apartment a street away from my building.
“What were you doing in Brooklyn anyways?” I ask, starting a conversation.
“Emily wanted to see the Brooklyn bridge a lot, she hasn’t seen it up close before, so I took her out today since I had a day off. But then this happened ” She trailed off.
“Well, it must be an unforgettable experience for her, don’t you think.” I joke, trying to lighten the mood.
It worked a bit, but the rest of the car ride was silent.
Dropping her off at the gate, “Call me when you reach home.” I say.
“I don’t have your number, what is it? She replies taking out her phone.
“********, got it.”
“Yeah. Ill call you.” Is her reply.
I minute later I see a light turn on in the apartment building, and a head poked out.
Ring Ring,
I pick up the phone and wave goodbye to Lily and drive off.
“Great Sage, where does the tracker say the car is?” I question as my voice turns a few degrees colder and the air around me fills up with killing intent.
{Brownsville, currently at a sandwich queen} came an equally cold response from great sage.
