Song Luli detached herself from Long Jie’s body. She pulled him closer, letting the water run over him. Water droplets fell from his nose, his curved lips, cascading from his wet hair.
Song Luli embraced him, letting the showerhead rain over them.
“I heard shower sex wasn’t all that glorifying,” he said over the sound of running water, huskily. “And yet—” Long Jie was at a loss for words; it was magnificent.
“It isn’t,” Song Luli answered, smiling. “Avoid getting certain places wet with water, and we can enjoy it without friction. Also, we’re not standing in a tub, so this shower is not that slippery.”
“How do you know all of this?” Long Jie asked breathlessly.
Song Luli titled her head to the side, curving her lips upward slyly, not giving him an answer.
Long Jie flushed.
Song Luli grabbed body scrub and a bar of soap, applying it on him generously, using it as an excuse to touch his body all over shamelessly. She then washed his hair, and Long Jie performed the same actions on her.
In their bathrobes, they both returned to the bedroom to watch a film. Long Jie went to the kitchen, grabbing some leftover chow mein to warm up. When he returned, Long Jie paused at the threshold, watching Song Luli capture photos of her hand and sparkling ring. He then walked in, and she put her phone away quickly, smiling as he entered.
Long Jie passed her the food, and they ate their noodles and vegetables, laughing at the comedy film they watched.
Afterward, they put their dishes away and slipped under the covers.
Long Jie was kissing her, but Song Luli parted from him to take out her phone again.
“Hold my hand,” she told him.
Long Jie listened, and Song Luli snapped photos of him holding her hand. He arched a brow, and she said, “It’s for my personal collection.” He chuckled, and Song Luli took a photo of his dimpled smile. He then leaned in, kissing her knuckles, locking his eyes straight at the camera.
Song Luli flushed at how deep and flirtatious his eyes were when he looked at her.
“Kiss me for the next photo,” she instructed him.
Long Jie did not hesitate. He sat up next to her, kissing her on the mouth. He then grabbed her hand, lowering the phone so that he could take over.
Song Luli gently fell over the pillows and sheets, dominated by Long Jie’s kiss. She responded to him enthusiastically, clutching at the collar of his robe.
“I’m going to turn off the lights,” she told him, turning him over to get up from the bed. She flicked off the lights, returning.
Long Jie tucked her against him, spooning her, resting his chin over her shoulder. Song Luli closed her eyes, feeling sheltered by him. From behind, Long Jie interlaced their hands together.
“When will we have our wedding?” Song Luli asked him.
Long Jie pecked her cheek. “It could be tomorrow; it could be a week or a year from now. Whenever you want,” he said to her.
Song Luli grinned, turning her head to look at him, caressing one of his cheeks. “I want it to be when we feel safe. Just this ring is enough to give me hope. I can hold onto it. We’re already married; what’s the rush?”
Long Jie nodded. “For now, we can plan it; it will give us something for us to look forward to.”
Song Luli’s smiled broadened. “Mhm, that sounds good,” she said, turning her head over the pillow, shutting her eyes to sleep.
Long Jie circled her waist, hugging her tightly. He swept her hair across her shoulder, kissing the nape of her neck. Song Luli reached out to take his hand, guiding him to her robe.
Long Jie snaked his hand underneath her robe, cupping one of her breasts. He kissed her neck deeply, sending pleasurable shivers down her spine.
His hand travelled down to her legs, sliding up her thighs. He lifted the end of her robe, kissing her ear at the same time.
“May I?” he asked politely.
“Yes,” she breathed.
He lifted a leg to gain access to her pooling core. He entered from behind, gliding into her smoothly. He began slow, grunting with each stroke, cupping her breasts at the same time.
He quickened his thrusts, gripping onto her thigh harder. Song Luli clutched at her pillowcase and bedsheets, steadying her. She was coming close to her climax, so Song Luli moved her hips backward. She met each stroke, welcoming it.
Long Jie then slid out of her momentarily before he sat up, beckoning her to sit on him. Song Luli felt him fuller in this position; he could reach the depths of her. She moved up and down; Long Jie guided her through each thrust, by grabbing her ass to perform lazy, tantalizing circles around his dick.
Long Jie squeezed her nipples as Song Luli moved around him slowly, pleasuring them both. He was coming close, Long Jie then gently pushed her spine forward, arching her back. She spread her knees and shins apart, with Long Jie getting a better view of her ass.
She sprawled onto the bedsheets further, only moving her hips against him on reverse. Long Jie’s groans encouraged her to move faster until he came. Not long after, Song Luli released herself on him.
Wet and sticky, Long Jie had to leave the bed, getting washcloths to clean them both up. Song Luli was close to falling asleep as her eyes kept blinking slowly, and he knew she was waiting for him to join her. Long Jie quickly cleaned her up, before returning to bed and scooping her in his arms. Sleep claimed them throughout the night until the late morning.

The days at work were troubling. Su Xiang is fed up with the judging looks of her colleagues, still assuming that she harmed the patient recklessly, if not on purpose.
She was forbidden from stepping into the same ward as the patient, but she was desperate to know his progress. From the reports, he was showing subtle signs of responsiveness, but not enough to confirm his consciousness or wakefulness.
In the meantime, she collected everything she needed to present her case. She only hoped that people were open to listening to her story; otherwise, they will do what they can to take as much money from her as possible. And not that she cared for money, she cared for reputation. If she lost and had to pay in damages, then she would lose her medical credibility; thus, ruining her career.
She went to the Neurology department to gain some experience under the wing of the physicians there. On her way, she caught a glimpse of Xun Zichen in action: guiding a new flock of recruits who wishes to work in their hospital. Xun Zichen caught her eye, smirking before he continued to walk with his novices in the Oncology department. What she also noticed were the eyes of others on him.
