A Story of Evil - Chapter 217
Everyone waited for the fight to begin. There was a strange nervousness filling up the place which nobody could understand. It was still and, this was probably caused by the fact that nobody wanted to witness what was going to happen next. Even the crowd could feel the bloodlust of Lady Eleanor’s fighter at that time. One which screamed that they would kill Lumina as soon as the battle began.
That’s why, deep down, they didn’t want the fight to even start. But it was too late for that. It was too late for any change to be made as, the seeming spell of stillness was finally broken. With the announcers finally getting the signal from the headmistress as they declared:
“Fight!”
The three summoners immediately brought out their strongest creatures. A gargoyle, a giant mantis, and a long ranged flame spirit. Lumina was about to summon her own creatures but, the flying mantis was already able to close in on her. Making her leap away as it swung its gigantic sickles at her. Catching a few strands of her hair which fell on where her head would have rolled, should she have reacted a bit slower.
Things were far from over as a shadow loomed on where Lumina stood. She looked up only to see the gargoyle already diving down on her. Forcing Lumina to tumble to the side as the crashing of this heavy creature created tremors on the arena itself.
“Looks like they’re not planning to give me a break.” Lumina said as she began chanting, creating runes on her body which only she could see.
While doing so, golem hands suddenly popper up from where she was standing – making her step back as it completely rose from the ground. Two more golems came up and while they did, the flame spirit kept Lumina company – creating fireballs that homed on the girl, forcing her to continually run away in order to not get hit by it.
The fireballs were almost as fast as her. To the point that she would be burned if she stopped running. This was only the beginning however as, the mantis and the golem also attacked in between the chasing of the fireballs. They didn’t get hit by the projectiles because the summoners timed the attack on the moment when they were sure that their summons won’t get hit by teh fireballs.
It may seem that Lumina’s enemies are well coordinated. But the truth is that each of them is actually fighting for their own sake. In a competition to see who could finish the girl fastest. After all, Julia will give them an additional reward for getting rid of her.
That’s why they were going all out right from the start. With all of their moves being lethal and, with Lumina getting cornered to a point that she couldn’t even fight back. What everyone witnessed was beyond a normal fight. It was beyond any demonstration or any serious fight done in the academy,
Lumina wasn’t even summoning anything. She needed to personally dodge every blow made by the deadly creatures brought out by her enemies. This in itself is enough to make the crowd on edge because, they knew that one wrong move from Lumina would cause her own death.
“Let me disembowel you cutie!”
“No! Let me smash that pretty face of yours!”
“Don’t give your parts to them! I’ll skin you alive and turn you into a beautiful doll.”
These were the words being said by Lumina’s enemy.
“Look at these guys, offering stuff like that to me as if I’d accept their offer.” Lumina said as she pivoted her body and dashed away just as quick. Dodging the simultaneous attack of both the gargoyle and the mantis.
“This is why I don’t want to fight strong guys. Bringing out the big guns require a lot fo time. Lumina thought as she continued preparing the runes on top of her skin.
Her concentration was being split between this and between dodging. Giving her a larger mental straini than normal because, her opponents only increased in aggression as the fight went on. In fact, just to corner her five more golems were summoned. With all of their hands suddenly rising from the ground.
It was impossible for Lumina to dodge them all so, she needed too sacrifice some of the runes she created. Taping on two of the golem arms which punched the other ones. Surprising her enemies who didn’t understand what was going on.
“Hey how did you get my precious golems to go against me!” The big man asked but Lumina only gave a middle finger as her answer. Aggravating this summoner even more who fully summoned the golems from the ground.
All of a sudden there were six of these which Lumina couldn’t focus on. She simply continued running around the battlefield, still successfully dodging every blow. However this wasn’t going to last for long,
The golems smashed the ground, creating multiple rock pillars which prevented Lumina from doing much. This also resulted in creating a tremor so strong that, Lumina even lost balance. This was the window of opportunity which her enemies waited for and, one which didn’t even take them a second to utilize.
The fireballs flew at her at top speed. Their number increasing twofold and their flames getting brighter. Some of the women from the ground began shrieking while others closed their eyes as, the inevitable finally happened. Lumina was caught in the middle of the barrage and, these same fireballs exploded upon contact. Blasting away and shattering the rock pillars while also sending an ear deafening explosion that roared all over the arena.
There was only silence that followed this because nobody knew what to make of the situation. Everyone was at a loss for words, even the announcers. And if there was anyone celebrating what was happening, it was Lumina.
“HAHAHAHA! Serves you right for going against me bitch!” Julia gleefully proclaimed – her mood being contagious to the second and third ranking students who hopped in on her festive mood.
“Yeah burn in hell together with your real parents!” Luz added.
“You never belonged in the academy anyway!” Was Olivia’s final remark.
These three didn’t even care that there were other teachers and instructors nearby. They knew that they could get away with anything they do in the Academy because of their parents. That’s why they didn’t shy away from the celebration of Lumina’s demise. But there was just one problem with this and that is the fact that was beginning to show at that moment.
Lumina is still alive.
A large orb flew in the sky. A grotesque looking thing with multiple eyes surrounding it. The three summoners didn’t know what to make of it but, they nevertheless began their attack. All aimed at this creature but, as soon as they did, large spikes suddenly shot up from the ground. Killing all of their summons while they themselves needed to back up – getting grazed on every part of their body as the spikes came undetected and in a speed that went beyond normal.
The larger the target was, the larger the spike which came for it. This meant that even the golems were taken out and, even the gargoyle which flew in the sky was not spared. Getting hit by a spike long enough to reach it.
One thing was clear with this attack and, that is the fact that Lumina was far from getting killed. And as the smoke of the explosions cleared, this is exact reality which they came face to face with.
Lumina was unscathed. On her hand is a book which everyone found to be odd. They didn’t see her take it out nor did they see any place where she could have hid it as, she entered the fight basically weaning only her uniform. Without any bag where she could’ve stored the item.
But this was simply the least of the things which amazed them because, what truly caught their eye was the thing which covered Lumina. She was being protected by a giant golem whose hand covered her entirely. This same creature Beside this is dryad which, explains the reason for the root like spikes that assaulted them. And on top of this is the giant eyeball overlooking the whole fight.
What was so shocking about this was the fact that, all these summons came out at the same time. Something which should not have been possible because, there is at least a one minute interval between summoned creatures. With this cooldown timer being longer for stronger summons.
Yet Lumina was there. Defying all the rules on summoning as three obviously overpowered summons appeared before everyone.
Lumina’s enemy’s backed away just a little bit. Already preparing the next summon which they would use for the fight. This is something which Lumina could’ve easily stopped but, she allowed them to proceed.
“You keep on talking about who’s gonna kill me and, frankly speaking you’re making it seem like I’m such an easy prey.”
“Because you are missy!” The thin summoner said, biting through his own skin as he began summoning another monster. The other summoners did as much self inflicted damage as the first one. With the big man stabbing his arm while the small lady cut through her wrist.
“Oh, now this should be interesting.” Lumina said as the bloodlust increased even more than before. To a point that the weak students felt as if they were suffocating at that moment. With this, three monsters stronger than the first batch were created. Yet instead of getting worried or raising her guard, Lumina simply flipped through the pages of her book. Waiting for the real fight to begin.
