A Supporting Character’s Love Story - Chapter 26
Ch 26
POV Shinji Makoto
“Stop. What are you trying to do? You’ll get our cover blown.” I hissed at imouto chan.
This girl was trying to pounce on Shimabukuro san. Luckily, I noticed this and pulled her back, in time. If she started a brawl in the middle of everyone, I would get exposed, and Nishikawa and Shimabukuro’s date would go down the drain as well. When I decided to follow these two in the mall, I never expected to be helping Shimabukuro.
“How dare she make onii chan apologize. I bet it’s not even his fault. Let me go. I’ll show her what happens… mmph mmmphh” I clamped her mouth to prevent her from shouting. Woman, people are looking at us. If you don’t stop the guards will come and probably kick us both out. How will you keep following your onii chan then?
At the mention of losing her chance to stalk her onii chan she finally calmed down. Damn, Nishikawa. How did you even manage to live through all your life with a psychopath living so close to you?
After a few minutes she finally calmed down and we continued following Nishikawa and Shimabukuro from a safe distance. Those two are not going into stores anymore, did they notice us by any chance?
When I expressed my concerns to imouto chan she hmphed at me as if I was a peasant in the company of nobles and said, “If onii chan noticed us I would have already known about it. I can tell everything about him just from his expressions itself.”
“I don’t think that ability is something to proudly tell others.” I replied to her creepy confession.
“They are waiting for the lift.” Imouto chan said, trying to change the subject.
Sure enough, it worked. I mean I would rather not talk about her creepy side as well.
“What do we about this? I definitely can’t enter the lift with onii chan. He will easily be able to recognize me even with my face mask on, and we don’t even know if they are going up or down. If we let them just go to god knows which floor, we will most likely lose them.” She asked me anxiously.
Funny. This is the most nervous I have seen her until now, and it’s because she will lose sight of her onii chan. I don’t know if this is cute, but it is definitely funny.
Going back to the urgent topic of lifts, I did have an excellent disturbingly evil idea. I hurriedly told her of the plan. However, you need to be in contact with each other for this. With the speed that a student has in the last ten minutes of test, I took her phone, mashed my number in, and pressed call. While Nishikawa and Shimabukuro were waiting for the lift to arrive, both of us rushed into the emergency staircase that was a few meters to the side of the lift, with a connected phone in our hands.
I ran to the upper floor and went next to the lift, and imouto chan ran to the lower one. Then we waited for the lift display to show us that arrow, it was pointing upwards, that means the pressure is on me. I smashed the button for the lift to stop at that floor, and hurried on to the next floor and did the same. As soon as I saw that arrow, I pressed the button. Yes, this is that one situation that makes the victim hate all of humanity. When the lift stops at every floor and nobody enters, you don’t know if it will stop at the next one so all you do is wait and the same thing happens again. You stay in the lift, only hoping that the next floor is passed without stopping. Imouto chan was following us from one floor below in case the target left the lift and someone else entered. The phone was to inform each other without delay if something like that happened, and also to prevent any unexpected situations.
.
“Huff… huff… huff…” Damn. They had to come to the top floor, huh?
“They came for the cinema, and are buying tickets for it.” I said in my phone’s mic.
I don’t know if it was because of what I said or maybe just a coincidence, but she arrived in less than ten seconds after I told her that.
While Nishikawa and Shimabukuro were buying tickets me and imouto chan were catching our breath. I looked at my phone and remembered that the call was still on. I cut the call and was about to save the number when I realized I didn’t even know imouto chan’s name.
“Say imouto chan, we aren’t strangers anymore right. Can you tell me your name now?”
After staring into my eyes for a brief moment she replied, “Haruno”
Haruno Nishikawa? But what do I call her? I call her brother Nishikawa, and I can’t call her by her first name, even I would be creeped out if somebody did. A nickname then? I guess imouto chan is the best.
“Your?” She mumbled softly.
“What?” I couldn’t understand what she said. Did I mishear?
“What. Is. Your. Name?” She pulled my ear and screamed.
“Ah! No need to shout like that. You will destroy my ears. Anyways, let me introduce myself. My name is Shinji Makoto, and I am a friend of Nishikawa’s.”
I think it is better if I tell her right now, I am Nishikawa’s friend. I mean, it would, in a way make her less reserved around me so that I can treat her insane brother complex little by little. Though, I think the best solution for this would be for her to fall in love with somebody other than her brother. Afterall, in every story there is that one character that is able to tame the yandere. If protagonists, heroines and side characters exist in real life, then why not yandere tamers?
Looking at Nishikawa and Shimabukuro booking the tickets for their movies, I realized that we had another problem.
“Imouto chan, how do we know which tickets to book?” I asked Haruno as I was not able to come up with something feasible.
“Ha…” She looked at me smugly, took her phone, and said “I will show you the power of family.”
No. Don’t think about it. The meme is already dead and there is no way this yandere knew the reference.
While I was trying to kill this meme, which had resurfaced in my mind, like Itachi after his death, Haruno was having a talk with her onii chan on the phone.
“Onii chan are you free to talk right now?”
“Oh, I just wanted you to get me some stuff while returning home. Could you do it? Please.”
“Yeah, just get me new notebooks and a few packs of pens from the convenience store. I would have gone alone, but…”
“Thank you.”
“By the way onii chan, where are you right now.”
“You went to the movies? Did you go alone, or are you with someone?”
“With a friend? By any chance is that friend a girl?”
“Oh just a guy, huh?”
Damn, Nishikawa caught in 4k. I could feel the Haruno’s will that was keeping her from going bad shit crazy. But Nishikawa too, why did he have to lie? It’s not like he is talking with Hiwari san.
“Which movie are you watching onii chan”
“Ah okay. Then I wont take much more of your time. Please don’t forget the convenience store thing I told you.”
“Bye, take care.”
“beep”
Looking at her fuming because of Nishikawa’s lie I couldn’t help myself from gaslighting her.
“So much for family huh?”
She glared at me with killing intent in her eyes. Without even flinching I told her,
“If you don’t get the tickets soon, the movie will start. Look Nishikawa and Shimabukuro are already going in.”
I don’t know why but I have gotten way better at handling killing intent and pressure directed at me. It’s probably because of my recent daily interactions with angry girls.
While Haruno was getting the tickets I went and bought a large popcorn. We are going to watch a movie, it should at least be enjoyable, right? After Haruno came back with the tickets we also went in the cinema hall and took our seats. What I didn’t understand was that how were our seats at the perfect distance to keep a look at Nishikawa and Shimabukuro but not get caught ourselves. Upon asking Haruno all I got was the creepy reply of knowing all of her brother’s preferences. Come on, aren’t you being a little tryhard? Which sister knows her brother’s cinema hall seat preference order.
“By the way, what kind of movie is this?”
“Horror thriller.”
Horror? I was expecting romance though. But okay. Horror is fine as well. I am actually fine with horror movies. Although I do get scared, it’s not to the point of shivering and screaming in fear. I wonder whose idea was it to go to a horror flick.
“Are you good with horror?”
“Of course, I love horror.” Haruno replied with twinkling eyes.
“I-is that so. What do you love about horror?” I tried to maintain a smile on my face, but the fact that a psychopath who loved horror was sitting beside me was scaring me more than the thought of watching the movie itself.
By any chance does she relate with the vengeful spirits in there? If she actually starts doing similar things as the ghosts, then Nishikawa better be ready for some sleep paralysis demons and long-lasting trauma. I think that some people who have a few crazy tendencies shouldn’t be watching this sort of movies.. Afterall, movies do leave a powerful impression on you.
