A Supporting Character’s Love Story - Chapter 49
POV Akari Nakano
My first kiss. I kissed Makoto for a few seconds before I suddenly felt the intrusion of his tongue. This made me snapped me awake and I hurriedly pushed him away.
“You, what are you doing, we are still in school.” I asked him while trying to cool down my red face.
“Don’t worry nobody will come here.” Makoto responded.
I looked at the door by reflex, remembering that I did take him to a secluded storeroom. Also, it was lunch. This made the chances of anyone coming here even slimmer.
As I was torn between whether I should be angry at Makoto or myself for being this shameless I suddenly felt Makoto’s hands wrap around my waist. I was so shocked that I didn’t even resist. The good thing was that he didn’t go any further which gave me some time to think, but instead of pushing him away like was going to I stayed there. His warmth felt really good in the cold temperature.
We stayed like that for a few minutes when the pitter patter of raindrops came through from the outside.
“It’s raining.” Makoto whispered into my ears, which made me feel like I was a pet being cuddled. The warmth from his body felt even more inviting with the sound insulation of the rain. It felt like the outside world was cut off from this room as all the noise receded.
I felt Makoto caress my face before he slowly turned it towards himself. One look into his eyes and I knew what he was going to do. My heart was telling me to go with the flow but my head was telling me to stop and continue later. I quickly made up my mind and whispered into his ears softly, “Don’t go further than kissing.”
Looking at his slight nod of the head I also didn’t try to resist and even slightly closed my eyes. Last time I was too shocked to do anything, this time however, I managed to respond as well.
People say that the first kiss tastes like lemons and sweets and whatnot, but mine was bland with a slight taste of… blood? At first I was taken aback, but after thinking about it for a few seconds I realized what had happened. I must have bit his tongue when he tried to put it in my mouth before, luckily, it didn’t seem like the cut was very big and we continued what we were doing.
It was clumsy, I mean we were both beginners at this, but still extremely addicting. We broke up after every few seconds to take breaths before going back to kissing again.

.
.
It felt like I was asleep.
*ring ring*
The sound of a ringing bell muffled by the sound of rain came into my ears.
A bell? Where have I heard it before? My sluggish mind slowly tried to think what was happening.
*ring ring*
With the second chime I slowly opened my eyes. It felt like the sounds sharpened, it felt like your ears cleared up after being clogged by water for a long time. It took me a few seconds to assess the situation I was in.
A bell! Lunch! Classes!
I shook Makoto awake from his stupor.
“Lunch is over already.”
It seems like my voice was able to reach him as his facial expression changed with the dawn of realization. He looked at his watch before smiling wryly, “Classes must have started already.”
“How did both of us completely lose the track of time?” I asked reflexively but upon hearing this question Makoto’s face went red. After thinking about it for a second it clicked in my head. Without him saying I already realized what the answer to my question was.
“What should we do now?” I asked in an attempt to switch topics.
After making a thoughtful expression for a bit Makoto replied, “Want to skip in the infirmary? Just say I wasn’t feeling good.”
At first I was taken aback by his answer but if you think about it, it is better than to be punished for coming late to class. The fact that Makoto was sick just yesterday would make his excuse even more believable.
After making sure the corridor was clear by looking after opening the door by a crack we hurriedly escaped this room. Who knew how soon would a person would come here. We made our way to the infirmary.
Luckily, the infirmary was empty. Not even the nurse was present. A perfect opportunity. Makoto quickly went and lay down on a bed. I was about to do the same when I heard the sound of the door handle being turned. Without thinking much, I quickly hopped in the nearest bed to me and drew the curtains close. Unfortunately, this was also the same bed Makoto was in.
“What are you doing?” Makoto whispered with a confused and panicked look on his face.
I opened my mouth to reply but didn’t know what to say. The footsteps of whoever entered were also coming closer.
Before I could react Makoto pulled me under the sheets and hid me. At the same time I could hear the curtains being pulled open.
“Hmm. What happened to you?” I heard an older woman’s voice ask. My heart was probably beating loud enough to be heard by Makoto. It was the nurse who had come in. This is not good. I was hoping it would be another student, that would make things so much more easier.
“Oh, I feel a little weak. I had a fever yesterday, so I was afraid it was going to relapse.” Makoto replied in a completely normal voice without any note of nervousness. Sometimes I really admired his ability to keep his emotions in check.
“Ok. I will be here so if you don’t feel good.”
“Ok”
This is the worst case. What am I going to do now? There is no way I am going to be able to sneakily leave somehow while she is in the room. As I was frantically thinking what to do I felt the sheets being pulled.
I was going to pull it back when I realized the one who pulled the sheets was Makoto and the curtains were shut again. He made a few signs as he pointed at me. From what I understood he was telling me to… be here? But wouldn’t that only delay the inevitable? But even though I thought that I followed his instructions and lay down in a comfortable position unlike before.
Although I say it was comfortable, there is only so much comfort you can get in less than half a single bed while being covered and trying to make the least amount of sound. I was basically lying beside his stomach while folding my legs. But that was not it, Makoto was also very restless as well, he was constantly changing his body position slightly, which made it multiple times harder. Especially when our bodies rubbed against each other. But no matter what happened I tried my best to remain silent. If I was caught here, it would be the end of me.
After staying like that for about 10-15 minutes Makoto started coughing.
“What happened?” The voice of the nurse came from a few metres away making me clutch the sheets tighter.
“Umm. My throat feels really dry.”
“Haah. I told them to install a water dispenser in the infirmary, but no one listens to me. Ok. Wait here for little bit, I will get something from the vending machine.”
I heard the door being opened again as she left. Just as I heard the click of it shutting Makoto said in a hushed voice, “This is the best chance, you leave. I will come later”
I complied and quickly went to the door. After peeping by making a crack and making sure that the nurse was not nearby by any chance I took one last look at Makoto before leaving.
That was close.

POV Shinji Makoto
That was so close. I felt endless relief as I watched Nakano leave the infirmary. Not only because she managed to escape but also because she didn’t notice the change in my body.
I tried my hardest to keep it down, but in that kind of situation I doubt if anyone would be able to do that, especially with all that contact. Even just remembering the events that just happened and the feeling of her body did it for me. On top of all that the fact that she was my girlfriend only made it even more difficult for me.
Just then the sound of the door opening came again which made me tense up reflexively. Only after a few seconds did I realize that the person who entered was the nurse and that the danger was now gone I relaxed my body.
