- Chapter 25:A day at home.
I woke up later than usual and when I came into the ‘kitchen’, Father was already on his way to the fields.
‘No! How could he leave me behind?!’
Mom answered me as if she could read my mind.
” You looked really tired yesterday, so your father decided to leave you at home for today to rest.” She explained with warm, soothing smile on her face. I was still a little unhappy, but when my nose detected Mom’s cooking, all of it vanished in mare second. She placed a bowl with vegetable soup and a piece of bread. I picked up my spoon, scooped some of the soup and engaged myself in savoring the flavour.
” Mmh~ Mom! Your cooking is the best!”
Afald sometimes brings things that his mom made and don’t get me wrong, they were extremely tasty! However, Mom’s food is on the Godly level!
” I’m glad to hear that.”

After breakfast I found myself in a tight spot. I was seating in the garden and didn’t know what to do. I didn’t want to practise magic now and was bored to play on my own.
” Hey, Mirta! What are you doing here?”
As if answering to my call, Afald appeared behind my back. I hugged him and he patted me on my head. I really like when he does that. His tender, small hand softly brushed my hair.
” Afald, I thought that you are going to help your dad with farmwork today!” Afald is now 7 and has to help out with work. I was not happy about it. Because he was busy, his visits to our house became scarce and I had to engage myself on my own.
” Well I was supposed to, but when I wanted was about to go, Dad told me to stay and rest. I found myself bored and came to play.”
We sat under the tree and shared our stories. I told him about my recent trips to the field and he told me about their farm.
” …and then Hurty ran away! I had to chase it all around the farm to get him back in stables!” Afald told me a lot of stories about a newborn Furop ( horse-like beast) named Hurty.
” Afald, you seem to like Hurty a lot! I start to feel left out!” I lowered my ruby orbs and took a peek at him.
” Sorry, Mirta, haha… I just… ”
Startled Afald looks even cuter and I really like how he reacts. He stared at me dumbfounded and I with glee. He understood that he was played AGAIN and starts laughing.
” Ha-ha-ha! Okay,Mirta, you got me! I’ll learn how to ride and then we will ride on him together!”
” Promise!?”
” Promise!”
We spend the rest of the day playing games. I once tried to teach him magic, but he found it boring and instead we ended up playing ‘ Knight, Princess and a Dragon’. It’s a game of tag where one person is a Dragon, one Princess and the others are all Knights. Everyone are running around and a Dragon tries to kidnap the Princess whereas the job of Knights is to prevent this from happening by catching, ‘ killing’ the Dragon. If a Dragon catches the princess, he wins. If he got caught by Knights, he looses. In the next round children choose their ‘ Job’ again and everything repeats. Afald taught me a lot of fun games and we often played them. Well we only had two people so it was more like a regular tag.
It was early evening when Father returned. When I saw him, I remembered how he left me behind and until he apologised, I didn’t speak to him.
“Hmpf! Don’t leave me again!” I said puffing my cheeks.
” Okay, okay. I won’t do that again. Now can you please hug your Daddy?”

Afald joined our dinner ( I insisted) and, since it was getting late, left to my great regret.
I want to spend more time with him.
