- Chapter 30:Sorry. I'll do better next time...
Tall, hard grass was a very annoying obstacle…. I’m 7 and a little taller than children my age, but this grass was as tall as Dad ( 179 cm approximately) or even taller! However, thanks to wind magic I’m still fine.
I fell down numerous times and my cloths were a huge mess. My skirt was missing quite a few pieces… I’m going to get into so much trouble… Well it still worth it.
A very comforting and relaxing atmosphere made me feel really safe and the desire to approach the lake and touch its water slowly overcame all of the mental barriers such as a sense of possible danger or the location of this natural beauty.
My legs soon moved towards this mesmerising lake. Every step that I took resounded clearly in the forest; however, it was almost instantly swallowed by the domeniding Silence. Not a single noise or sound could be heard. Birds were silent and everlasting buzzing of various insects was cut off. A small piece of cloudless sky that could be seen was as still as water in the ocean just before the storm.
As I was nearing the edge of the bang, the smell of lotus-like flowers grew stronger and made my movements sluggish and my eyelids become heavier and heavier with every passing second. I crouched down on my knees and extended my small, delicate hand towards the greenish water…
[ Mirta! Child, wake up! Run!]
A sweet and somewhat nostalgic voice snapped me out off my dazed state just in time for me to move back and avoid long sharp teeth that shut right at the place where my arm was. The creature with strong jaw that had many rouves of white, sharp teeth grawled in disappointment. It slowly emerged from the depths of the lake, showing its terrifyingly enormous body. Black armor of scales was covering its entire self, protecting from any possible danger. Six oak like legs stepped on the bangon this evilly beautiful lake. Crocodile like head was held on thick heck and had 5 horns embedded into it. Its long pointed tail, reminded one of a snake that is ready to strike it’s pray.
My whole body froze at the sight of the Magical Monster before my eyes. Its golden beautiful eyes locked its slit pupils on to me. I was in awe and terror a the same time. It is the first time I saw a Magical Monster,( Donne no longer counts) since my rebirth in this world.
[Child! What are you doing?! Run!]
The same voice that saved me few seconds ago, screamed inside of my head. On the instinct I rolled to the side and was barely able to avoid the clutches of death. The creatures humongous tail moved away from the spot where I was sitting, leaving behind a long, deep crater.
The cold sweat was running from my body. I finally realised the danger. I could actually die there! This stupid brain of mine!!
I stood up and decided to run for my life. I couldn’t possible deffit something of this caliber yet! My magic control may be good, but my magical knowledge is almost complete zero. I ran in direction of the forest hoping to hide in the labyrinth of grass.
I turned around and saw that the creature lazely moved its legs and almost caught up to me!
‘Not only it is huge, it just had to be very agail as well!”
Panic was slowly devouring my consciousness. I tripped on my foot and fell. I could almost feel the breath of gigantic predator on my back.
{ Rudrus!}
In haste I managed to fire a fire elemental beam. Because I had almost no time to concentrate, I put too much mana into it and it became more powerful, but almost completely drained me.
A loud, small scale explosion resounded through the forest. A cloud of smoke was covering the outcome of my attack. Slowly all o the dust settled down revealing the creature. It had a few burnt marks the face where the scales brock and one of its eyes was now slowly melting away.
“ROAAAAAAAAARGH!!”
It screamed in pain and swang its tail in my direction yet again. I had no time or strength to dodge, so all I could do, is block it with my arms reinforced by earth magic. The tail collided with my weak defence an I flew into the near by tree. My back connected with the tree, causing me to spit a mouthful of blood. My head was no longer able to look straight and just hang there. My arms could no longer be lifted. Although I didn’t feel them, I could tell because of their unnatural shape, that they were broken.
I could feel the creature closing in on me. Its heavy footsteps were coming closer and closer. It was now right before me opening its gigantic mouth, revealing those daggers that were ready to reap me apart. The foul smell of rotten flesh entered my nostrils. I closed my eyes, awaiting my unavoidable death.
Suddenly, the smell was gone. A strong gash of wind blew past me heating the creature, slicing it in halfs.
With the last bits of strength I lifted my head once again and saw emerald body of a very familiar and silly teacher of mine. A small, weak smile formed on my face
“Do…nne… what ..took you so….long?”
My body relaxed and my consciousness that was barely present slowly turned blank.
The las5 wards that I heard before blacking out were, ” Sorry. I’ll do better next time”. A phrase that he repeated countless of times during our training.
