- Volume 1: A Whole New World Chapter 12 Episode 12: Dojo Vasco Strada And Reunion
After their introductions are over, Shin took the tray from Asia’s hand and invited her in his room. As expected, Asia tried to reject his suggestion but Shin continued to insist. This made the shy and inexperienced little girl to eventually acquiesce.
“Come on! Let’s eat together! Food tastes much better if you have someone to share it with!” Shin said while urging Asia to come inside first.
Asia wanted to say something but chose not to. She doesn’t really have any experience regarding what Shin is talking about so she chose to just stay silent. This little girl have no experience, whatsoever, about socializing.
She’s been in an orphanage ever since she can remember and she is not exactly the type of girl who has an outgoing personality. She’s always been a shy one so she rarely socialize with other kids.
Shin can be somewhat pushy but he also wouldn’t force a person if they really didn’t like it. Feeling that the girl was just shy, Shin tried to somehow take her out of her comfort zone and make her be used to socializing.
It should be said that, ever since he was young, he have quite an attachment to Gabriel. Aside from the fact that she’s an absolute drop dead beauty, she was also the one who brought him to his now new family. There’s also the fact that she’s been around him most of the time when she’s not busy, aside from his parents and siblings, so he somehow picked up some of her habits.
Being around her, he picked up her unique ability to make someone comfortable around her. There’s also the gentleness that she usually emits. Due to his heritage, Shin is normally gentle and caring to his friends, family, and even to those who he felt are good people or those who he already knew from his memory. But, as a male beast, he’s absolutely not kind to his enemies.
Time flew by as Shin and Asia ate the food that Asia brought over. At first, Asia would almost always stutter or just straight up not speak a word. However, as time passed, she eventually got used to talk to Shin. That was because, Shin brought their topic towards Heaven and the God which she believes in.
When that topic was brought up, Asia’s face brightened as she started to recount her experience of receiving a ‘miracle’ from God. The innocent girl even talked about her being able to cure people without thinking about the consequences that it may bring to her if Shin were to be a bad guy. Well, that’s an unfounded worry but still, it wouldn’t hurt to be more cautious, no?
“And, and! You see! The grandma was so happy when she was cured! She even thanked me with a smile! Thank you, God! For giving me such a blessing!” Asia said while clasping both of her hands together, looking up in the ceiling, and closing her eyes in a silent prayer.
Shin just looked at her with a gentle smile on his face. This girl, she’s absolutely an Angel.
‘I wonder if she have an Angel bloodline hidden within her or something? I mean, her features and behavior is extremely ‘angelic’. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case, really,’ Shin thought inwardly.
Majority of Angels have the same features, green colored irises and blonde hair. If this extremely polite, kind, and innocent little girl isn’t an Angel then who is?
‘It’s decided, then! Let’s create a Peerage System in Heaven and make her a real Angel! Sounds like a plan to me!’ Shin thought.
Heh, that does sound like a great plan! Granting holy power to other species and making them a part Angel? An extremely interesting thought. Let’s make sure that you’ll go through this plan of yours! Yuki suddenly said.
Then, before Shin could even squeak, a notification sound resounded inside his head.

You… I’m speechless. *sigh* Nevermind. I just hope that you will also put in effort in training, Shin said gently.
He really wasn’t angry at this supposed Dragon God. Instead, he’s happy that she’s enjoying herself so much that she’s beginning to pull pranks. He just hope that being outside that dark and dreary place now will somehow get her out of her boredom.
Of course! I also want to eat those things that I’ve always saw when I’m watching humans in the past! Yuki said enthusiastically.
Well, if only Shin knew. This supposed Dragon God never even trained! The only time she put in any effort to train was when she wanted to battle Ddraig and Albion. Even that only took a little effort from her part.
Just as Shin finished talking with Yuki mentally, Asia also just finished thanking God. When she opened her eyes, she saw a cute boy gazing at her with a smile on his face.
“Why don’t we go out now? I want to meet Big Sis Griselda, too,” Shin said.
“Mm! Let me guide you!” Asia said.
After they got out of the room, Asia guided Shin through the small training facility. It seems to be a relatively normal building with wide corridors and a few rooms. The walls and the columns were white in color with some golden designs. There’s also some statues that are depicting what seems to be Angels.
A few minutes later, Asia made a sharp turn while Shin followed. While walking through another wide corridor, Shin can finally see an opened sliding door beyond this one. Inside it, sounds of blunted objects clashing with each other can be heard.
*tonk* *tonk*
*tonk-tonk* *tonk*
*thud*
When they arrived inside the room, Shin saw a dozen of boys and girls, majority being girls, having a mock battle. All of them wore some skin tight sportswear that made it easy for them to move around. Holding some wooden swords, they engaged in some intense battles. Four girls among this group stood out.
First was someone Shin has been friends with since he was four. A cute little girl with the hairstyle being a simple twintails. She has brown colored hair and violet eyes. This little girl is Irina Shidou. There’s no signs of her tomboy-ish behavior as she looks like a lively and innocent girl now.
Second was a girl with a shoulder length blue hair and dark yellow eyes. She doesn’t have any particular hairstyle as she let her hair loose without tying it. She have a calm and serious countenance that is not fitting for a girl her age.
Third was a girl with white hair tied into braided twin tails with a hair clip on the right side of her bangs. Her eyes is blue in color while she gives off the atmosphere of a girl-next-door.
And last but not the least was a girl with blonde hair and sky blue eyes. Her blonde hair is tied in a twintails style and her countenance is similar to the blue haired little girl, calm and serious.
‘If I’m not wrong, these girls should be Irina, Xenovia, Tosca, and Jeanne respectively. I heard that Big Sis Gabriel was successful in saving those from the Holy Sword Project so Tosca being here is, I guess, as expected but… to think that even Jeanne was here,’ Shin thought.
While he was immersed in his own thoughts, a girl that was fighting against Jeanne lost her balance. Her grip on her wooden sword loosened as she accidentally let go of the hilt. This caused the sword to fly towards the absent minded Shin.
All of the children and a.d.u.l.ts inside the room was alarmed as some of them immediately stood up to try and stop the wooden sword. The force behind its flight is quite strong so it might hurt Shin if it hit him. Not to mention that the wooden sword’s tip is directly pointed towards one of the softest spots in a human’s body, the eyes.
But, against their expectations, Shin just casually tilted his head and let the sword pass by him. Midway through the sword’s trajectory of passing by him, Shin grabbed the hilt and casually waved it around for a bit before stopping. He then walked towards the girl who accidentally let go of the sword and handed it over to her casually.
“It’s dangerous so don’t loosen your grip again next time, okay?” Shin said while smiling.
“U-Umm,” the girl could only nod in acknowledgement.
Nodding in satisfaction upon hearing the girl’s positive reply, Shin then turned towards his childhood friend and said,
“Yo, Irina-chan~. Long time no see?”
Hearing the familiar voice and that familiar smile on his face, Irina was overwhelmed. She immediately started tearing up as she ran towards Shin. After arriving in front of him, she just started to pat his face.
This action of hers confused Shin a lot so he tilted his head and said,
“What? Why are you patting my face like that?”
“E-Eh, I’m j-just making sure you’re real,” Irina said while blushing in embarrassment.
“Hmm? What? You didn’t expect to see me here?” Shin asked.
“I-I mean… this is where future exorcists train so…” Irina replied while fidgeting.
“Hmm? Ohh! I get it now! You thought I’m a normal person, right?” Shin asked once again.
Irina just nodded at this. Seeing her confirm it, Shin chuckled a bit and said,
“Hahaha, that’s a misunderstanding, you know? Right, Big Sis Griselda?” Shin said while looking at the approaching Griselda.
“That’s right, Irina. He will be studying under me and the Cardinal Priest Vasco Strada. So, he isn’t completely unrelated with the supernatural world,” Griselda said.
Upon hearing one of their Sword Instructor and savior’s words, every kid inside the hall, even some of the a.d.u.l.ts, made an uproar. The kids were amazed that someone around their age could catch the Cardinal Priest’s and the Head Instructor’s attention while the a.d.u.l.ts were surprised to hear about all of this.
However, before they all could voice out their surprise, an old man came from another entrance. He is a 2-meter elderly man. He has white hair and his face has wrinkles on it; similar to that of a normal elderly. However, he’s a very muscular old man. It would be more apt to describe him as a hulking old man. This man is one of the Cardinal Priests of the church, Vasco Strada.
After their operation on saving the majority of the children in this place, everyone of them tried their best to tend to them. Thanks to them cutting off the number of orphans that was being sent to the Holy Sword Project, the priest behind the whole incident was forced to hurry his plans.
Fortunately, the event didn’t leave a deep scar in their hearts. Due to them being under the careful care of the female Angels, the kids completely recovered from the incident after a year passed. After that incident, Griselda offered them to stay with her if they want to learn how to at least protect themselves.
All of the kids agreed in this, wanting to not fall into the same situation once again and to also find their friend Isaiah. Griselda and Vasco tried to dissuade them but it was all for naught. They all are determined to go through with their plans. Thus, Griselda and the other a.d.u.l.ts could only teach them all that they can and try to slowly dissuade them about their decision.
“It seems like you finally decided to train your swordsmanship, eh, little Shin,” Vasco said.
Shin faced the hulking old man while craning his neck and said,
“Mm, I can finally train under you, Ojii-san!”
“Hahaha! It does seem so! But, you still can’t train under me for now! I want to see how you will fare against kids your age so I want you to train in this dojo for some time as I observe you!” Vasco said.
Upon hearing his words, Shin just nodded in a determined manner. He at least have a good foundation to start learning swordsmanship so he’s quite excited to learn. It’s a shame that he can’t train under the said to be ‘Strongest Human’ but Shin knew that he’s far from deserving a Sword Master of Vasco’s caliber. He don’t even know the basics so he is alright with this arrangement.
Approximately a month passed already after Shin arrived at the Vatican.
The same day he arrived here, he was bombarded with a lot of questions by the kids. They were quite curious seeing a newcomer so they can’t help but ask questions. The fact that he is also extremely cute made Shin into an instant celebrity inside the place. That day, he finally understood how the celebrities felt like when they are being surrounded by a bunch of reporters.
It was honestly defeaning so Shin tried to quiet them down. After a while, when the kids calmed down, he told them to now ask their questions one by one. He patiently answered their questions until their curiosity was finally sated.
After that day, Shin began to catch up with his first friend in the Kuoh Town, Irina. Even though she changed quite a bit, acting like how a normal little girl her age would act, Shin didn’t treat her differently.
He would talk to her like how he used to, even teasing her sometimes. Thankfully, she didn’t change as much. She’s still the same cheerful, energetic, and enthusiastic girl that he knew.
It’s almost as if nothing changed between them, except for the fact that she would often blush when Shin is patting her head or hugging her. She also introduced Asia, Jeanne, and Xenovia to him, telling him that they are her new friends.
Aside from Asia who he already met, he focused his attention on the two girls more. Both of them were like what he thought. The serious and calm type of girls. Well, if he were to compare both of them, he could say that Jeanne is slightly more enthusiastic and energetic. She would, more often than not, frolic around with Irina while Xenovia and Asia are watching them in the sidelines with a small smile on their face.
According to Irina, Jeanne arrived here a few months after the kids from the Holy Sword Project were brought in here. Similar to them, she also had undergone a ‘counseling-like’ process as she stated that Jeanne also went through some traumatizing events. As for Asia, she said that she just one day arrived here with Griselda. Aside from her learning a bit of close quarters combat training, she’s also the designated healer of the dojo.
Currently, Shin is inside the dojo, alone. The other exorcist-in-training kids are now inside their rooms.
*swoosh* *swoosh*
“Ha! Hup!” Shin shouted as he performed a slashing then a thrusting motion.
After thrusting the wooden sword, he twisted the hilt of the sword and slashed upwards diagonally. Then, using the force of the earlier slash, Shin used his left foot as a pivot, turned around, and brought his sword down in a downward slash.
*swoosh*
*thud*
Then, he continued to do some more slashing and thrusting routines. He’s been practicing here for almost 2 hours and he’s still not feeling tired. Normally, a kid his age would already be bathing in their own sweat after doing this much series of actions for two hours straight. Unfortunately, he’s not exactly a normal kid.
*tzzt*
Unknowingly, Shin once again started to enter the state that he once entered. Imaginary flashes of golden lightning was emitted from his golden irises. His gaze also changed along with it as it became extremely cold and emotionless.
*slash*
‘This is not enough. I did something wrong there. My movement was a bit off,’ Shin thought.
*slash*
‘Wrong again. The slash deviated for a few millimeters,’ he thought as he started to swing his sword once again.
*slash*
‘Good, I’m getting the hang of it.’
*slash*
*slash*
*slash*
While Shin was immersed in training, three little girls are peeking on him from the slightly opened part of the sliding door. They’ve been here since an hour ago and they just stayed in their positions without making any noise.
They were amazed at how fast Shin improved, even far outclassing them who has been training here for years. His extremely fast improvement can only be described as ‘monstrous’.
While they were immersed in watching Shin, a woman’s voice suddenly called out to them.
“Ara, looks like three naughty girls are here to peek on their beloved crush~” the voice said.
“Kya!”
They let out some cute yelps as they turned around in panic. When they did, they saw their Head Instructor in swordsmanship, Griselda. When they were about to say something, Griselda gestured to them that they need to stay quiet.
“Sshhh… we can’t disturb his training,” Griselda said.
The three little girls just nodded their head in a rapid pace. They even blocked their mouths with both of their hands, trying to stay quiet. This earned them a giggle from Griselda as she found it extremely cute.
Suddenly, another voice interrupted them,
“Shin-saaan~. Where are youuu~. Mmmnnn, I’m sleeepyy~.”
It was Asia. Ever since Shin arrived here, Asia would sometimes barge inside his room and sleep beside him. When Shin asked her about it, she said that it was because sometimes, at midnight, she would go to the bathroom.
Due to her being sleepy, she would unconsciously go towards the room where it feels so familiar to her. When he heard her say this, he couldn’t help but think about it. Something that feels familiar to her.
At that time, he thought,
‘Oh, right! Isn’t she something like a Dragon Priestess or a Dragon Tamer according to my memory? That’s probably what she’s talking about.’
