A Villainess Should Be Strong - Chapter 187
The group of people began to smirk looking at Estelle’s physique. Estelle originally thought that this country seem
However, upon closer inspection, she actually found out that the men might not even be part of dragonkin at all. They seemed to be foreigners that settled in Vaitral. They bullied this kid who looked weak without remorse, and that made Estelle quite disturbed and uncomfortable. She clicked her tongue as she drew closer to them with a menacing expression.
“Why on Earth is this happening? I will give you one chance to explain, and that will decide your fate,” Estelle lowered her spear. She regained her rationality as she was just about to harm this group of men without knowing the clear situation.
“What the hell are you talking about? This is Vaitral, so strength rules, right? We brothers came here because the convenient rule is perfect for us! Do you get it? Perfect! In Alynthi, we were treated like bad guys and were unable to obtain our freedom, but in here.. Our strength and crimes doesn’t get obstructed! As long as we are able to not provoke those stronger than us and choose our enemies wisely, we will be spared of any punishment! Isn’t that the best?” A man defended their case like it was something normal to desire criminal activities being pardoned.
“Right! This kid is weaker than us, so naturally he has to bow down to our strength! Such is the law here, you stupid idiot!”
“Hahah! Do you see now, kid? The one who is helping you will be a little sister just like you? Why don’t use brothers take care of her first, then we will capture her as well? You two can play together well~” One men had a filthy expression on his face, showing obscenity in his eyes.
Estelle’s face wrinkled in disgust as she raised her spear after hearing their dialogue.
“You dare hurt a defenseless child, so you must be prepared for a stronger entity to beat you down as well. If you lots lose against me, then you may not call it a crime, but instead a retribution of your own wrongdoings. Let’s fight,” Estelle emanated a particularly majestic glow that made the men hesitate for a split second before gaining back their courage and launching their attacks.
Estelle stayed calm as she faced the first two men that approached her. There were a total of six men, and the remaining four stayed holding the little kid back so that he wouldn’t run away. They believed that two people would be all it took to subdue Estelle. Unfortunately, they were clearly wrong for underestimating Estelle like that.
Estelle was irked, so she did not have any qualms in hurting them. They weren’t innocent, so she could have her way. With her weapon, she deflected one of the men until his body was sent flying. The other guy was visibly shocked, but the sheer adrenaline made it impossible for him to turn back. He was in denial, even though he had just seen his comrade be thrown back like that. He thought that the other was playing a shitty joke and making fun of the child, which was clearly not the case with how that guy was already unconscious, laying on the ground with an uncertain fate.
Estelle was faced with the other’s frontal attack. He did seem to possess a fair share of strength, and did have skill just by looking at his stance and posture. However, compared to Estelle, who had an infinite amount of potential, what was a little bit of skill or power? Naturally, when his blade struck down against Estelle’s spear, he was immediately thrown away, hitting a building and falling down face front, creating a large banging sound. The crook elicited a pained grunt this time before falling unconscious just like the previous challenger.
The four men were left slightly dumbfounded, and the clear denial showed up in their faces. Not only them, the little kid in their hands were also shocked when Estelle displayed such great power with her small physique. He gulped a mouthful of saliva as he stared at Estelle with curious eyes.
“Why? Are you scared now? Don’t worry, I will play with all of you until I am.. satisfied,” Estelle showed a twisted smile as she pointed her spear towards the group.
“She- she’s bad news! Run away, we don’t need this kid anymore! Take him if you want!” One of the men shouted, leaving the party and running towards the opposite direction Estelle was standing from right now.
Estelle sighed, deciding to not chase for the time being. She let the men run away quite far, before deciding to make a surprise to them. She created illusory clones of herself, and allowed her consciousness to travel to those illusions. Her main body stayed in place, but her illusions appeared before the runaway crooks and gave them a scare.
“Those who kneel on the ground right this very moment will be given lesser punishment~ Unless you want to be given the same treatment like those two, who tried to fight,” Estelle did not want to use excessive violence. Even though she was in Vaitral, and the area she was in right now was not too densely populated, she still did not want a lot of people to bear witness to her actions. She was a newcomer who was looking for a living temporarily. Although these guys were crooks, they seemed to be closely related with each other with how they called each other as brothers.
Link and connections were important in a society. If she disrupted one part in a connection chain, then she would be considered a disturbing entity to the others in their group too. Just like these men, who seemed to be lesser crooks. She knew that Vaitral was also quite diverse, and that it obviously would not be a surprise if a gangster group had formed here.
The four men ended up choosing peace over more violence and kneeled down swiftly in front of the illusion Estelle. Naturally, Estelle did not spare them just like this. She let a wisp of harmless flames travel to their clothes and burn the fabric down to a crisp, but this piece of special flame would not char their skin. Instead, they were left until they had no more clothes except for their underwear before Estelle stopped the flame from spreading. In front of Estelle’s powerful magic, the guys were obviously powerless and unable to resist.
After Estelle annoyed them a few times more, she decided to let them off. Since Estelle gave them quite the bit of an experience, she was sure that they wouldn’t be able to act as prudent as they were right now in the future. THey would definitely learn a thing or two before starting up this kind of troublesome shit again.
She retracted her consciousness back from her clone and looked for the child that she left behind to chase the men.
However, the little kid turned out to have ran away while Estelle was cleaning the men up. She did not notice his vague actions, so she looked on with interest left and right. Out of curiosity, she launched a detection skill over the nearby area, making sure that it wouldn’t trigger anybody’s senses. She found out that the boy had already travelled down the road and headed towards the way she originally came from.
The reason she was curious was because even though she was distracted in her clone and did not put as much guard up, a little kid’s flimsy footwork should be picked up by her with ease. But not only did this kid pass through her senses, but he also already ran away to such a long distance in a short time. It was a pretty impressive feat for the kid, who looked weak in her eyes.
Estelle did not pursue the chase and continued to make her way back to Alyssa’s inn. This time, her journey was peaceful and without any disruptive accidents happening in between, so she arrived back to her room in no time. She had dinner, and tasted the first Vaitral dishes she had in her life.
The next day, she was contacted by Tertia, who told her that the person she recommended to be her guide agreed to the meeting, and that he was free right now. Tertia asked her if she was also free, and Estelle replied with a positive answer.
She rushed to Tertia’s store to meet the candidate, and she was feeling quite expectant about the event.
When she arrived there, she only saw Tertia and not the child. After seeing Estelle arrive, Tertia’s eyes sparked and turned to the back, from where she called out a child.
The child obediently stepped out and peeked from behind Tertia’s body.
“Meet Theo. He is the guide candidate I mentioned for you the other day,” Tertia introduced, making Estelle’s eyes widen at the boy’s familiar figure.
