A Wanderer's Lies - Chapter 78: Whatever I Want!
[NOW!]
A fist of flames travelled toward Isaac, seeming as though a second, maybe third…no, countless fire fists travelled toward Isaac, threatening to trap him under an abyss of blunt fiery torture.
However, before it could reach him, Isaac yelled inwardly.
As he did, a tangible pink substance insanely moved up from the ground below, encasing the two of them and the area they were in.
“Perfect Cube: The Lie for Equality.”
As these words entered both the ears of Isaac and Katlynn, like a thread snapping, both their abilities instantly disappeared.
Katlynn’s skin of flames disappeared, leaving her bare body as her two Grimoires dropped to the ground as if they were regular books.
Additionally, the cluster above Isaac’s head had disappeared.
Meanwhile, Isaac struggled to handle the changes.
[Nen Proficiency: 7 -> 1]
[Are you okay?]
Merlin asked, communicating to Isaac telepathically as she watched him stumble a little from outside the cube.
Despite her words, her tone didn’t seem as though she was worried for Isaac. Its usual calm and tranquillity was unfaltering.
[I’m fine. How long do I have?]
Isaac quickly regained his composure. He was in a state similar to Zetsu. Additionally, the Nen being led to the Thing faltered a little due to his lessened Proficiency, causing him to feel a stinging pain for a few seconds.
[I’ve never created something like this, even in my Verse. With your request, this cube is supposed to lessen the control one has over their abilities.]
Isaac nodded, he knew this much, after all, it was his idea.
He could have asked her to shut off any PS entering the cube, however, that would only cause the Thing to emerge.
Therefore, if Isaac’s control over Nen lessened, he could still have the Nen entering his body from the atmosphere, still satiating the Thing.
[Despite the potions which helped restore my Mana, and Incantation Orbs from Jayne’s Dimensional Ring which helped stabilise and gave me better control of the powerful spell, this cube will only stay active for five minutes.]
Isaac nodded as he got up.
[That’s all I need.]
Isaac stared at Katlynn who was still trying to figure out what was going on.
‘What’s happening? First the healing then the speed and now this? Where is this all coming from?’
Katlynn tried her best to control her magic, but only wisps of fire and glints of her Star Magic were all that she could manage.
It was as if she was trying to drink water with her hand she didn’t have full control over.
However, she was quick to return to her right mind. After all, the battle hadn’t finished yet.
“Why? Why do you hide your power?”
Katlynn was insane, but not stupid. She’d long since realised everything she knew about Isaac was a lie.
She just didn’t know why he lied.
“Would you treat me the same if I didn’t?”
Katlynn paused. This question was obvious to her.
“Of course not.” She replied with a snarl, to which Isaac stared.
“That’s why.”
The revelation of being strong came with curious and nosy individuals.
This would lead to them soon discovering Isaac’s SSS completion rank, the Dark Continent, Scarlet Eyes and everything else he kept secret.
That was something Isaac didn’t want.
Well, not yet at least.
Katlynn didn’t understand, but she didn’t retort.
No words were spoken between the two.
Despite this, their loud silence spoke volumes.
This was a battle for survival.
Both individuals were trying to kill the other.
With this thought, Katlynn dashed at Isaac with speeds far slower than before, yet incomparable to a regular human.
Isaac closed his eyes.
With the little control he had over his Nen, he repeated a sequence he’d been practising for the past week.
-CLICK
“First Gate of Opening, Open.”
This was all he could muster.
But it was enough.
Katlynn swung her fist, but Isaac had disappeared.
“LI15”
Two fingers that felt like bullets shot into Katlynn’s shoulders as her arms went limp.
Gritting her teeth, Kaltynn leapt back, knowing what this was, realising she was too slow for Isaac.
-BANG
However, before she could move, a fist landed on the side of her face as she spat blood and her vision blurred.
Katlynn stumbled, looking back only for another BANG to ring out as her head was flung back due to the force.
This time, she was unable to stay on her feet as she dropped to her back.
As Isaac walked toward the downed Katlynn as she struggled to rise to her feet, her lips started to move.
“Protect the weak…”
“No, the weak are a burden…”
“But what about her…”
“She was a liability. That was why she died!”
Isaac paused in his steps, watching Katlynn speak to herself, her tone changing from desperate to frustrated as even a hint of regret could be sensed in it.
“At least I have morals, what morals do you have?!” She screeched while staring at Isaac as if she were talking to him.
As she did, Katlynn pounced at him, trying to take advantage of the element of surprise as it seemed her two arms had returned to normal.
-BANG
But it was pointless.
Blood flooding from her nose and drops escaping her lips, Katlynn felt a tug as she was pulled back, fingers wrapped around her throat as she was lifted off the ground.
“My morals?”
Isaac brought her face closer to his mask as his low and muffled voice entered her ears.
“I do whatever the hell I want.”
Isaac wanted revenge, so he took it.
Isaac didn’t want to end this fight quickly, instead wanted to watch her suffer, so he did.
Ever since the day he exited his Scenario, Isaac has waited for this day.
He couldn’t help but savour it.
He’d finally done it. He’d finally enacted revenge against someone who treated him as though he was worthless.
Of course, he had killed Silver, however, this was different.
Silver was simply a psychopathic Ghoul. No one could blame him for being a monster, he was made that way.
However, Katlynn had no excuses.
Neither did the countless others who treated him like trash.
Only this time, he had the strength to do something about it.
“Now stay still,” Isaac whispered.
“Z43.”
Katlynn watched as Isaac pressed his finger against the centre of her forehead.
As it did, her vision faded and her mind shut down.
In the next second, her body suddenly erupted into a wild seizure as Isaac let her go.
Her two feet touched the ground, but she was unable to keep herself up as she started to fall face-first into the dirt.
But this was what Isaac wanted.
While she was still midair, Isaac lowered his body, his left hand pressing against the ground as his opposite leg shot upwards, striking Katlynn in the chin with a BANG as she was sent in the air once again.
However, it didn’t end there.
Using both hands, Isaac pushed off the ground, ascending with Katlynn as he continued with his constant barrage of kicks into her gut, sending the both of them higher and higher in the sky.
-HUMMM
A faint hum could be heard amongst the constant assault as bandages appeared in Isaac’s hand.
As he kicked, he extended his bandages, watching them coil around Katlynn as they trapped her in a tight coffin from head to toe.
As it did, Isaac halted his kicks, letting the body move closer to him as he wrapped his arms around it, changing their trajectory as they both were now heading toward the ground head first.
Isaac took a deep breath as he and the body started to spin midair until they were spinning so fast their figures blurred.
“Primary Lotus!”
-BOOM
A yell could be heard just before the spinning figure smashed into the ground, dust being kicked up into the sky and an explosion like BOOM echoing through the night.
Then, silence descended the forest.
[You might have killed her]
A voice entered Isaac’s ears as he emerged from the dust cloud without a scratch.
The cube around Isaac slowly started to show transparency as after a few seconds, it unravelled itself.
[Nen Proficiency: 1 -> 7]
Isaac felt his power return as he breathed in.
Meanwhile, a feline cat leisurely appeared beside him.
[No, she wouldn’t die that easily. Besides, I made sure to not kill her, as she still serves a purpose. Do you have it?]
Isaac asked to which Merlin waved her paw as Isaac’s Dimensional Bracelet flew toward him.
He had been using a ring all this time, as he didn’t want his Bracelet to be stolen or damaged as it was his main source of storage and most expensive.
With a slight hum, a sleek black ball the size of a tennis ball with little to no detail appeared in his hand.
[Artifact (Forged): Incantation Orbs (C-Rank)
Requirements: N/A
Description: These solid obsidian balls can hold and release spells up to C-Rank upon destruction.]
As he walked to Katlynn, he was quick to notice her bleeding profusely, the location of where the blood was coming from being hard to tell.
Her eyelids were open, yet her eyes were rolled to the back of her skull, only showing white, all while she lay in a crater.
Isaac simply placed the ball atop her, stepping back as he glanced at Merlin.
[Are you sure this will work?]
[It should. I did spend part of my preparation on it after all.]
Merlin replied.
Simultaneously, Merlin spoke out loud, activating the spell imbued in the orb.
“Curse Discovery.”
With these words, the orb glowed as the spell manifested.
It wasn’t long until Isaac witnessed a black substance rising from Katlynn, forming a sphere above her.
[Interesting. Although the spell itself is nothing impressive, the execution and structure of the spell are quite unique.]
Isaac raised an eyebrow as he looked at her.
[You can tell all that from just looking at the black goo?]
Merlin nodded.
[Oh yes. But don’t worry, it’s nothing I shouldn’t be able to handle even at this stage.]
“Curse Dispel.”
With a simple dismissive wave, the black goo disappeared.
Isaac simply shrugged as he quickly returned to Katlynn, placing a ring on her finger.
Not like the dimensional ring he had.
No, this ring depicted a single black line across the middle of it.
[Activate it.]
Isaac stepped back as Merlin again stuck out her paw.
“Curse Engage.”
The ring visibly tightened around Katlynn’s finger as the black line across it expanded until the entire ring now showed a sleek black colour.
[It’s done. The final step to our preparations. With my current capabilities, I wasn’t able to make it perfect. However…]
As Merlin spoke, Katlynn snapped her eyes open as her Grimoire’s pages flipped open, flames summoning onto her wounds as they healed.
She slowly got off the ground, crawling out from her crater as pebbles dropped due to her movement.
Rising to her feet, she stopped before Isaac as the two stared at each other.
In the next second, she lowered her head.
[…You have two commands she will fulfil. After that, her ring will break and she will return to her original self.]
“Command me.” Katlynn bowed, following Merlin’s explanation.
Isaac peered over her, his mask still on his face but a stoic expression covered underneath.
[That’ll do.]
[Although, you might want to make it quick. We have company.]
Isaac glanced behind him, pausing for a second.
[I know.]

Next chapter title: Golden Six Vs the Figure [1]
Fun fact: Upon thinking of the idea to create Onyx, I was serious about calling them “The Spawn Campers”
But i got serious about the story and changed it. But there’s times where I think I should’ve kept it lol.
