A Wanderer's Lies - Chapter 80: Golden Six Vs the Figure [2]
Cain, Lucy and Jett stood before the mysterious figure and both parties didn’t utter a word.
With Katlynn supposedly dead and the figure seemingly being the one who was able to overpower the professor, mere first-year students would typically never stand a chance.
But this didn’t stop them.
“Be careful…”
Before Cain could finish, his words were cut short as he suddenly snapped his head toward the figure.
Not just him either.
All three of them stared at the figure with a newfound sense of caution…no, that wasn’t the right word to describe it.
All three of them could feel a hint of fear toward the figure as a menacing and ominous Aura exuded from him.
The Aura had manifested, seeming as though it were tangible tendrils crawling through the air toward them.
Lucy and Jett tried to keep their composure, but their usually stoic expressions faltered for a second.
-SMASH
Cain could be seen gritting his teeth, stepping forward as his foot smashed into the ground, cracking it.
“Stay focused guys. He’s trying to intimidate us.” Cain’s words entered Lucy and Jett’s ears, snapping them out of their trance as they regained focus.
However, just as they did, the ominous Aura from the figure retracted, disappearing as though it were never there.
-BANG
With a bang, Cain kicked off the ground as his white aura surrounded him.
Jett and Lucy weren’t left behind, as the three of them formed a triangle formation.
It wasn’t long until Cain reached the figure, however, Cain briefly caught the figure whispering something.
Just as he did, he disappeared from his position, reappearing a few metres away from his original position.
Cain chose not to pursue, standing between the figure and Katlynn as Jett stood with him while Lucy checked on Katlynn’s condition.
After all, their priority was Katlynn’s safety, not the capture of the figure.
“She’s alive. Just knocked out.” Lucy spoke after pressing her fingers against Katlynn’s neck.
Cain let out a sigh of relief as he heard this.
“Stay with Ms Wilson.” Cain looked to Lucy, to which the girl nodded.
Cain would prefer to have her fight with him, seeing as how the figure was presumably stronger than each of them and Lucy was almost as strong as Cain.
However, it was because she was strong that she should stay. Just in case there were any more intruders.
And Lucy knew this. Things like jealousy or the thought of others underestimating her wasn’t something that entered her mind.
Turning around, Cain leaned closer to Jett.
“I think I’m faster than him. He’s either got something up his sleeve, or he has exhausted himself after fighting with Katlynn. Keep that in mind.”
Jett nodded silently as they both walked away from each other, circling the figure who stood still like a statue.
-BANG
-FUAMM
Cain once again kicked off the ground, the earth crumbling under his feet as Jett’s flames erupted, propelling him toward the figure.
From both sides, both students’ attacks coordinated perfectly as Cain aimed to sweep the figure’s leg while Jett threw a powerful knee to his head.
-SWOOSH
Yet despite this imposing teamwork, the figure leapt off his feet, turning his body horizontally as he passed through the thin gap between both attacks.
‘He dodged it?!’ Cain thought while Jett stared with a hint of astonishment, preparing his next move.
The figure landed on his upper back, performing a kip-up. But instead of landing on his feet, he swung his two legs like propellers, striking both students with a BANG.
Cain blocked but could feel his forearm stinging as he was sent stumbling a few feet.
However, while Jett did block with his shoulder, he released a spontaneous counterattack, whipping his leg through the air.
-CLANG
The figure, unable to dodge, blocked with both forearms as a loud CLANG from Jett’s leg hitting the strong material of the Figure’s armour rang out.
The figure was sent into the air, landing on his feet not too far away from them.
‘After that first incident, I can’t feel a wisp of energy from him. To my knowledge, he isn’t using any PS, yet his attacks are so strong.’
Cain thought this while sprinting toward the figure, not letting the intruder have even a second to breathe.
Cain swung his fist, to which it was swiftly dodged.
Cain continued throwing his punches, using any part of his body to try and land a strike, yet the figure kept dodging.
‘It’s as if he’s moving before I even throw my attack.’
As the figure dodged another kick, he ducked, swinging his leg and sweeping the only leg Cain currently stood on.
However, the figure’s strength didn’t seem to be enough to topple the large student, as Cain simply stumbled a few times.
-FUAMMM
And before the figure could have any time to relish this opportunity, Jett, who looked as if he were ice skating, darted toward the figure, his feet brushing against the ground as his flames roared.
“Instant Movement.”
Jett’s flames halted as the boy moved toward the figure, his feet moving rapidly, his movements unpredictable.
The figure seemed to be confused, watching until Jett moved uncomfortably close.
The figure raised both arms, blocking the side of his head as he witnessed Jett prepare to swing his arm.
However…
“You’re wide open.”
-BANG
A devastating kick crashed into the figure’s side and the figure let out a subtle groan.
-SQUEEZE
Despite this, the figure wrapped both arms tightly around Jett’s leg as the boy slightly widened his eyes.
‘He grabbed my leg? Did…he leave an opening on purpose?’
However, it didn’t seem as though the figure would get a chance to act as a yellow glow illuminated the surroundings.
“Let him go! Masen…”
Before Cain could finish, he witnessed the figure toss a circular device that stopped right before Cain’s face.
-BEEP
-BOOM
The circular device exploded before Cain as the boy was shrouded in a green gas.
Inhaling the gas, Cain felt his lungs burning as it became harder to breathe.
“Cain!”
Meanwhile, Jett yelled out as the figure still held onto his leg.
Turning his head to the figure once again, Jett watched the man wrap bandages around his leg.
“Piercing Fang!”
-BANG
Jett shot out his fingers, striking the figure in the area above the heart, his gloves combusting into flames at the last second.
The attack had landed, cracking the armour around the area of the heart as an indent was left in the figure’s skin.
Yet…he didn’t move an inch.
As if he’d simply ignored the attack.
Jett knew the figure was hurt, after all, he could see the blood dripping onto the ground from under the mask.
Instead of retreating in pain, the figure now wrapped the bandages around Jett’s hand as well.
‘He has me trapped.’
Jett thought, scurrying to burn or tear the bandages off, prepared to defend himself if he needed to.
However, the figure suddenly released the bandages with a slight toss to the side, causing Jett to also follow that momentum.
‘A…fake…’
Like a snake, the figure moved at blurring speeds, wrapping his arms around Jett’s waist and with a heave, he arched his back and let gravity take him to the ground as he pulled Jett closer.
-BANG
With a BANG, Jett’s head was smashed into the ground below as the boy’s vision blurred.
The figure shot back to his feet, moving away as he wiped the blood off the lower part of his mask.
-BANG
The figure had no time to react as Cain’s shoulder bashed into his side, sending him shooting further into the forest and destroying the plant life on his way, his armour breaking like as his organs almost leaping out of his mouth.
‘If he fights better than me, I’ll use my superior strength and speed.’
The figure tore through the forest, carried by the momentum of Cain’s powerful attack, but before he could land, Cain suddenly appeared before him once again.
-BANG
-CRASH
Clasping both hands together, Cain smashed his joint fists into the figure’s gut as the man shot like a bullet, crashing into the ground.
But Cain wasn’t done there.
“MASENKO!”
A devastating yellow sphere of power was palpitated around Cain’s palm as he rested both hands over his forehead.
-BOOM
The blast tore through the air, disintegrating any plant life that was in its way as it came in contact with the ground.
“MASENKO!”
-BOOM
“MASENKO!”
-BOOM
“MASENKO!”
-BOOM
Cain let out an unrelenting and continuous barrage of his attack, the ground quickly crumbling as though he’d made a hole so big it emerged from the other side of the globe.
Finally, he ended his attacks as he loomed in the air breathing heavily.
However, upon noticing something, he couldn’t help but widen his eyes.
***
The figure could be seen in the same forest, only in an area that hadn’t yet been destroyed in the battles ensuing.
Placing his mask back onto his face after shoving a handful, of what looked to be pills, in his mouth and gulping loudly.
His armour also seemed to be repaired as the previous hole atop his heart was no more.
As he did, he bent his legs, preparing to dash away.
-RUSTLE
However, before he could, rustling of nearby plant life could be heard as a figure shot out from it at high speeds.
Speeds at which the figure seemed to be unable to react.
With a slight whisper, Lucy stood before the figure, raising her sword as she took a deep breath.
-CRACK
-SLASH
As the sword touched the figure’s armour, it instantly cracked as she slashed her sword through the figure’s flesh, the sound of meat being sliced ringing out.
-BEEP
However, before Lucy could continue, she was quickly to notice the device that had been stuck to her, beeping quicker by the second.
-BOOM
Lucy quickly whispered something as she leapt back, the device soon exploding as she was covered in smoke.
But less than a second later, she reemerged, unscathed.
She didn’t take a moment to rest, dashing back to the figure who was rooted in his position.
However, this time…
-RUSTLE
Above the figure, another student dropped down, his leg raised as he prepared to drop an axe kick.
‘You’re mine!’ Daniel yelled inwardly.
Behind the figure, Jett emerged, his head dripping with blood as he shot toward the figure at great speeds.
‘Beat all the strongest men…’
Beside the figure, Amara emerged, her skirt fluttering in the wind as her determined expression seemed intimidating.
However, rather than throwing an attack, she moved her hand toward her glasses, pulling them off and tossing them as her pupils revealed to be a vertical slit, as though she had the eyes of an animal.
Directly opposite Amara was Cain, sweating as he moved the fastest toward the figure.
The figure was trapped from all sides, a devastating blow awaiting no matter where he turned.
The air palpated and time itself seemed as though it came to a halt, the only sound being the heavy breath that came from every student moving closer to one location.
Yet despite this, the figure didn’t move.
Instead, he summoned something into his hand.
