A World Full Of Yanderes - Chapter 14
I flew across the country over the course of several days, it was an extremely beautiful land. The maximum speed I could reach while flying was currently 30km/h or 18.5m/h. It was fast enough for me to arrive at Nermia Academy in a few days based on the number of breaks I took along the way, whether to replenish my mana or sleep for the night.
I was lucky enough to encounter several towns with inns so far along my travels, so there was no need to sleep in a tree due to the fact I possessed zero camping equipment. I would definitely need a sword once I arrived at the academy.
So far I was amazed by the amount of different landscapes and terrain in this country. I had seen plenty of farmland, but there were also several large forests, lakes and even mountains. It was stunning. The sunset however was my favourite part, whenever I stayed in an inn, I would always leave my room to fly as high as possible and admire the sunset. A truly gorgeous country.
In the first town I arrived in, I asked for a map with directions to the academy, since it was a national landmark, and many teenage villagers had made the journey hoping to be accepted. It was extremely easy to find its direction.
The villagers I asked all told me to follow the direction of a specific two stars, apparently, the academy was in between these two stars, and the stars kept the same position all year.
While travelling over a large forest, I suddenly heard a scream, not a feminine or high pitched scream, but instead somewhat of a war cry. When I thought of the positives and negatives of discovering the person or creature who let out such a scream, I decided there were virtually only negatives, of course, my curiosity urged me on though.
I travelled lower to the ground and used body magic to improve my hearing. I felt the mana I was controlling travel from a place near my heart up to my ears and suddenly everything became so much clearer. I heard the sound of rushing water, likely a small stream, I also could hear the clear chirping of birds, and the leaves blowing in the soft wind.
However, the most noticeable sound was the growl of a beast which was accompanied by the continuous rough breathing of two individuals. I flew closer to the sound, landing on a tall tree and hiding in the leaves to examine the current situation.
I saw two people in a fight with some large tree creature, the tree thing was 8 feet tall, it had long dangling branches for arms which spiraled out to create knive like fingers, its legs were both extremely thick and its entire body was brown. I instantly recognized it as a Treant.
They were a creature I had read about in a monster encyclopedia in Adriannas library. They were extremely tough, and had unimaginable regeneration abilities, however they were very slow, and had a weakness to fire. A classic mosnter even in my old world.
The two people facing it both looked around my age, which greatly surprised me as two 12 year olds travelling alone was a very rare sight.
One of them had brown hair in a messy cut which only seemed to embolden his charm, he was a bit on the short side, but that was expected from a 12 year old, he also had a handsome face and muscular body, likely due to the sword he was holding in his hand.
His companion had long brown hair and green eyes, she had her hair tied in a ponytail and a toned body, her face was stunning, however this time I wasn’t even surprised, it seemed like every girl in this world is beautiful. Of course there were some unnatractive women or average looking women in the villages I had come across, but every single maid in the palace and every single noble I had met were gorgoues, maybe it had something to do with being able to use magic?
The girl had a toned body with small curves already becoming noticeable, she was taller than the boy, but it was common that females mature and grow faster than boys, so there was no way to tell if she would always have that advantage on him.
Both the girl and boy were wearing leather armour of low quality but they were putting on a impressive fight against the Treant, though the boy was lacking in strength, when it came to his sword, the skill he used was almost as impressive as the girl.
The girl was obviously using body magic as I could tell by sending mana into my eyes, a skill quite creatively called mana eye. I could see her mana was flowing across her body in large amounts, also her strength and speed were unnaturally improved. Besides the advantage with body magic, she also showed insane skill with her sword, she might even be able to beat me if it was a matter of skill alone, and I was trained by Master Michael, a world renowned swordsman.
Though they were putting up a good fight, they were slowly losing, the Treant also cared for its life, and was putting on a impressive effort to win.
After examining the the fight for over 3 minutes. I decided to help. The boy and girl would eventually lose, and the Treant seemed within my range of abilities.
I had noticed several of its most powerful moves and took note of them. First off there was a situation where the boy breathed fire from his mouth, it caught me off guard and it seemed to do the same to the Treant, which howled in a mixture of rage and pain. The creature then sent its arms underground, at first I thought to root itself or possibly even take life from the other plants to heal itself, but I overlooked the possibility of it extending its arms underground.
It extended its branch arms far enough to reach the boys foot and pull him hard, enough until his face hit the dirt, it then pulled itself towards the boy.
A few seconds before the Treant had stomped him into mush, the girl saved him.
She leaped in front of the Treant, first doing a side swing hitting it across the body with a large amount of strength, similar to a baseball bat, which obviously wasn’t good for the sword making a terrible “CLANG” sound.
Following her move that knocked the creature a few feet backwards, she sliced at the tree roots that were grappling onto the boys leg, then they both reatreted swiftly.
There was also another moment when the Treant became enraged and used some sort of special move, the girl made a clean cut on one of its legs chopping the chunky limb off. The creature fell to the ground, however, once it hit the ground, its other leg seemed to disappear with half of its lower torso.
Following the lower half of its body’s dissapearnce, a disastrous amount of wooden spikes burst from the ground, striking the boys leg even after he dodged with insane reflexes.
The majority of spikes primarily aimed for the girl however, as several struck out towards her. She leaped with her mana powered legs atempting to escape the spikes range, one of the spikes was still tall and fast enough though, it was able to slice across the side of her torso making a large gash directly under her ribs.
When she landed a good few feet away from the spikes, she almost fell over likely due to the pain.
She continued with the fight though, even after leaking out a few tears that she quickly wiped away to stop from obstructing her vision.
My plan was to wait and see how things went for a while to obtain a full understanding of the Treants abilities, but after witnessing this scene, though I attempted to be cold hearted and logical, I had to lend my help.
I was also quite confident in escaping with my flight magic which I have to admit, influenced my decision.
I rushed into the battle, flying while conjuring a wind sword, something I learned from Master Michael. He told me that he had fought a few mages that were better swordsman than him, and they had used magic sword like these which could always be reconjured as long as the mage didn’t runout of mana.
“Im here to help, Lets kill this thing!” I attempted to yell bravely, however luck was not on my side, right at the focal point of my battle roar, my voice cracked making a embarrassing high pitched squeel. However my squeel caught both of there attentionas they turned around in suprise just to see me flying past them, sword pointing forward preparing to stab the treant directly in its center.
Besides having a weakness to fire one thing I luckily remembered due to plenty of studying was that if you destroy a small sapling in the center of a Treants trunk, they will die. It is a small sapling that floats in a green crystal like see through orb.
I drove my wind sword into the Treant at a terrifying speed, even after my effort however, its tough bark brought my sword to a stop, so I used a trick I learned with Master Angelo.
I made my wind magic into a almost drill like needle, making the sword more circular while keeping its sharp tip.
I then forced the mana fluctuations in my body and the air, to rotate the wind sword, bringing the air from around the area into my sword almost like a mini tornado.
With the speed that the sword/pointy poll object rotated, it pierced through the Treants bark with ease, eventually cracking the orb at the creatures center.
Once the sampling was destroyed, the monster began to shrivel up and die. It was as if I saw a tree slowly die due to dehydration, a process that would take several months or even years depending on its size, however, this time, the process took barely a few seconds.
After beating it I looked behind me to be congratulated, only to see two young mages standing there wide eyed.
