Above The Heavens I Stand - Chapter 1
In a noisy classroom, a young girl sat silently listening to the teacher while doing her work, ignoring the chatter. She wore a navy blue blazer with yellow piping along with a white long-sleeved shirt and a blue tie with red and yellow stripes. She wore trousers since she didn’t like skirts.
She had fluffy dark brown hair that reached two inches above her waist in a simple high ponytail. She rubbed her brown eyes and then resumed writing. After she finished, she did nothing but look through the window.
“Boring, physics is so boring. Stupid brothers, all you do both is play games all day and don’t even know how to spell words simple as muscle yet you’re both over ten years old?. How the hell are you both gonna get a job and get married?’ She thought as she yawned.
“Oi, Stella! Lemme see the answers, please! I’ll buy you lunch tomorrow!” A cheerful voice came from behind. “No, do them yourself Audrey, who knows if I got them wrong.” Stella replied as she attempted to shoo her away.
“C’mon Stella, everyone knows that you get everything right. Just let me have a peek, please.” Audrey asked. “Fine, don’t let the teacher see.” Said Stella. “Yay!”
15 minutes soon passed as she regretted leaving her smartphone at home.
‘I could be spending these last fifteen minutes on catching up on the latest chapters of novels in my library!’ She thought and to her delight, the bell rang.
Getting up from her chair, Stella left the classroom with her belongings; a simple black backpack.
She walked along the busy streets with her head down thinking, unaware of her surroundings. “Guess I’ll catch up binge read the books I stopped reading for a while…” She muttered.
Stella looked up and saw the crossing a few meters ahead and stopped when she reached it. Walking when the green light flashed, she heard the sound of a moving and turned her head only to see the sight of a black Mercedes Benz GL, chased by two police cars, zooming toward her. ‘I’m dead. At least those two will learn to care for themselves once I’m dead. Haha, I wonder what mother would think. The only reason I studied hard was so she could brag about me with pride…’ Stella thought when she saw the car.
Stood in the middle of the road looking at the car, everything seemed to slow down. Once the car hit her, she felt her ribs cave in and felt something wet ooze out, staining her white shirt red. Stella saw the car pass by with one of the police cars following it while the other stopped. She saw people looking at her with disgust, pity, and fear. Only a few seemed like they cared for her.
Two policemen and a policewoman stepped out and rushed to her, one of them was anxiously calling an ambulance.
She felt that the pain in her chest increased and her breathing became fainter and fainter; all she could feel was the intense pain spreading.
‘What’s the point of calling an ambulance, I’ll probably burden my parents and they already have health problems.’
Thoughts flooded her mind as she felt her eyelids droop. Her blood continued to flow out of the injury, making a puddle beneath.
“Hold on! The ambulance is on its way!” Said the policewoman as she held her hand.
“U-useless… And you’re t-too loud…” She stuttered as her breathing stopped.
Her sight blurred and all she could see was pitch black.
…
“Hmm? What’s this? A slab? Wait, where’s my body? Am I a lonely stray soul right now? Don’t tell me I gotta get on that slab.’
Slowly moving forward above the grey slab, Stella felt her surroundings distort and appeared on a yellow road full with milky white orbs with a bunch of grey and black orbs.
‘Where the hell am I? I guess I’ll go with the flow.’ Stella thought with curiosity.
Following the orbs for who knows how long, she saw six gates; Deva, Asura, Human, Animal, Ghost and Hell were the names she thought once she saw them.
A few metres before the gates, there seemed to be a membrane and the orbs changed shapes. Some turned into creatures, some turned into plants like trees. Others resembled a human. After they transformed, a dark green liquid would enter their mouths or hit them and they would then be sucked into the portals.
“Boom!”
Sudden explosions rang out and the spirits started to retreat in frenzy.
“Hahaha!! You imps actually thought you could imprison me?! Hmph, you fools just watch me make chaos!!!” An eerie voice boomed and the road trembled. Sounds of crackling could be heard and wisps of purple lighting appeared, growing larger.
Stella stood frozen like a fool as the other spirits tried to escape. “The f-duck? Why me?…”
When the lightning struck, she felt a force pulling her into the portal.
‘Aren’t I supposed to drink that soup thingy made by Grandma Meng and walk across the Bridge of Forgetfulness to erase my memories?!’ She cried with bitterness
…
‘Where am I? What’s this tube thingy? Wait, I’m in the womb? Yes! Wait… What’s this thing between my legs… Can I be a killer? I feel like strangling someone to death. I want to kill someone really badly. I hope I can kill a chicken.’ Stelle thought as she dreaded.
10 minutes passed as she tried to accept the situation.
‘I guess being a guy isn’t so bad… I don’t have to do the cooking since I’m a boy. Yes, yes. There are many benefits being a boy… I don’t have to be married off to some shitty idiot.’ Stella comforted herself.
‘I hate this. I hate whoever hit me with lightning. I hope you turn into an angler fish and forever stick next to your partner till death do you apart.’ Stella thought as she recalled what happened.
‘I wonder what kind of place I reincarnated into, I hope it’s a nice place. I most likely don’t have a system, I’m probably an ordinary person who has memories of their past life.’
‘Beep!’
Starting the Most OP System system! Please check your status by thinking status. A robotic voice sounded in his mind.
‘…Status?’ Stella thought.

That is incorrect, host. You cannot believe what you are seeing. To answer the second question, system had to intergrate with host’s soul thus host’s soul has to hibernate until system was fully integrated. A cold mechanical voice rang out.
‘Whad’ya mean I cannot believe what I am seeing? I was clearly surprised. Anyway, why the hell do I have a system?’ Su An questioned accepting the reason why she woke up only know.
Because you do.
‘…Elaborate?’
Moving on.
‘So rude!’ Su An wondered why he got a rude system, he preferred he got one that didn’t speak.
Do you have a problem?Said the system.
‘No, I have two questions though.’
Ask.
‘What’s with the ‘Bookworm God’?!’ Su An yelled in his head.
Think about the arrow you useless bum. The system replied immediately.
‘Why are you so rude?!’ Su An cried inwardly. He wondered what he did to deserve this.
He thought about the arrow next to the title.
The Bookworm God
This title is gifted to the one who has the biggest passion for reading.
This title is passive.
When this title is equipped, you have the true photographic memory and the ability to understand whatever you read.
‘…Is this because I was very stupid and believed I would transmigrate one day so I wasted my time on finding how to make many everyday and important things and memorising poems and war strategies and other stuff?’ Su An thought when he read it.
Correct! You are very stupid! The system said in a happy tone.
‘…I hate you.’ Su An thought as he thought about the other arrows he was curious of.
The One Blessed by the Heavens
This title is granted to the one who is favoured by the heavens.
This title grants one affinity with all paths and is protected by the heavens.
“Okay, that’s cool but too overpowered.” Su An thought in amazement.
Young Master of the Su Clan
This title belongs to the young master of the Su Clan.
The Su Clan is the strongest force in the Cai Yue Empire. The Su Clan carry the bloodline of an exiled framed descendant of a mysterious clan.
_______________
“What is this?!” Su An froze for a moment before silently screaming. He screamed like a madman in his mind.
‘I’ll just ignore that for now.’ Su An thought after calming himself down.
Water Physique
A physique that allows one to control water and its properties.
Su An imagined himself gasping dramatically with his baby body.
‘Why do I, a male, possess a water physique?!’ Su An exclaimed.
Because system is overpowered, imbecile.
‘…’ Su An remained silent before thinking about all the things he could do. ‘Water has three forms in total, solid, liquid and gas… which means I can freeze people’s blood kekeke…’
If Su An was given birth to, he would have a big creepy smile on his face.
You sound very creepy. The system commented.
‘…’ Su An ignored it.
‘Too overpowered… Notify me when five days have passed…’ Su An asked.
Okay.
5 minutes later…
“This is boring.”
Shut up and go back to staring at darkness. The system spoke.
“WHY?!” Su An cried.
Did you say something?
“Nothing.” Su An answered.
…
‘So how does this work?’ Su An asked as he stared at the corner of the status screen.
There were multiple tabs with padlocks.
Different functions.The system stated.
“Why? Aren’t you the most OP system?” Su An questioned.
I can decide when to unlock them. The system stated.
‘…’ Su An’s mind went blank. ‘I’m doomed!’ He thought in horror.
Don’t worry, I’ll be fair. I can also award you items. The system spoke.
Su An asked a question with some hope, ‘Is there already an unlocked function?’
Lottery. The system replied with an indifferent voice.
‘Yay!’ Su An cheered before thinking, ‘I want a nicer system.’
I am already the nicest system out there. The system answered with its cold voice.
