Above The Heavens I Stand - Chapter 7
Perhaps realising that crying was useless, Su An’s cries turned into sniffles before he stayed silent.
“At least… I have a complete family now…” Su An muttered quietly.
‘A family… with loving parents…’ He thought before he shook his head.
‘I cannot keep on drowning myself in the past!’ He then narrowed his eyes.
‘I must protect… this with my life if I have to…’
He kept on thinking and thinking as if hypnotising himself.
‘Father- no, dad.’ Su An changed the way he addressed Su Cheng.
“I’ll definitely make you proud.” Su An spoke before he got off the table and climbed onto his bed.
‘System… I feel like you made a mistake.’ Su An suddenly spoke.
Correct.The system acknowledged.
System assigned host different function due to the change in situation. System initially wanted to assign host the attribute function due to host’s low intelligence. The system answered icily.
“…” Su An didn’t bother to reply. He had already accepted that his system was like this.
‘So why skills?’
Host will have less opportunities due the change in the situation of host’s family thus system assigned host the skill function.
‘…’ Su An pursed his lips in silence.
He could already imagine the time when he had grind exp.
The exp required for levelling up will be the same for each sub realm of a realm. The system added.
Su An’s eyes widened before he asked about skills.
Exp requirement is the same but depends on the level of skill.
Su An grinned happily and fist pumped.
Luckily no one stayed outside his room to see this or they would be weirded out.
Soon, Su An had fallen asleep due to having nothing to do.

“Whoosh!”
Several figures clad in red fiery robes flew in the sky as panic was visible on their faces.
“We have to quickly find fourth cousin’s descendants before ancestor does, a millennia has already passed!”
The leader who seemed to a normal handsome immortal, except his ruby red hair and eyes which were far from normal, voiced out.
“It’s all because of that foolish brat that fourth cousin had to leave!” A female beside the man responded with anger ablaze in her narrowed eyes.
“This is no time to badmouth our disgraceful and arrogant sixth cousin. We must quickly find them before they get killed by ancestor!” The leader reminded as he stepped forward, sending himself several thousands meters forward.
The rest soon followed with reluctant expressions.
The woman from before clenched her fist when she followed the man and quietly looked behind her in a certain direction before retiring to follow the man.
‘Fourth Brother Shen, we will definitely give your descendants the recognition they deserve however… why did you escape so far?!’
The woman thought inwardly as she sighed while following the man.
They had scoured almost every realms they could go to however they couldn’t sense any bloodline connection resulting another venture deeper into other worlds. This only led to them knowing that Su Shen had fled somewhere so far away that even their ancestor would have a difficult time to find him or his descendants.
‘Selfish old man, why does he keeps on prioritising that brat instead of the clan. Greatest disciple he says, surpass him he says, fourth cousin would surpass him by miles if he was given the same level of resources. He’s just reluctant to leave a kid whom he spent so much time and resources on. That’s absolute bullcrap!’

Time flew by in a blink of an eye and Su An was a few months away from his fifth birthday.
Many, many things had occurred during this time period which included Su An being forced to learn many skills by another function being unlocked:
Quests!
Most of Su An’s quests compromised of learning skills and levelling them up as well as other ridiculous quests such as roll in the mud or fall flat on his face.
This was partly Su An’s fault as he had asked the system to give him some quests that made him seem more like a child so the system made use of his request to the full.
The most embarrassing quest Su An received was cling to Su Chen for three days.
However this was easy as Su An just slept by his father at night while clinging to him. Three nights were equivalent to three days to the system accepted it.
Currently, Su An had many skills of which a few were:
Meditation [7/?]
Deception [3/?]
Water Manipulation [7/?]
Water manipulation was initially 0 but it levelled up once he put his thoughts into practice after awakening his water constitution.
As for his constitution, he awakened by eating an Aqua mist fruit he brought from the system shop.
It was the worst thing he had ever eaten. Su An didn’t know how to describe it.
At the moment, Su An was staring at the ceiling absorbed in his thoughts.
‘If only I had reincarnated a few years into the past…’
He thought.
These thoughts would always crawl from the back of his mind to the front and the system didn’t do anything because it knew.
It knew that Su An could never completely move on.
At the same time, it also wished Su An did because it didn’t want to be cursed.
Su An hated how he had the most overpowered system. The apex was never fixed which meant he had to be the ever-increasing-apex.
Su An was depressed whenever he thought of these kind of thoughts.
Su Yan always noticed these changes and entered seclusion a few months ago before exiting a month later.
Su An he entered a space that sped up time so time passed quickly.
He was also warned by the system that Su Yan could now understand unknown languages like English so he became careful to not use it.
At the same time Su An always complained about forgetting English.
The system harshly berated him to record everything since he kept complaining.
Su An smiled lightly and walked out his room to the yard to watch the sky.
He stood barefoot on the grass, not speaking a word.
The servants also knew Su An was not to bothered when he was alone this they did nothing but lament why Su An was always like this a few times since he was born.
Su Yan saw Su An through the corner of his eye and walked toward him.
“An’er.”
“Grandpa.” Su An blinked before smiling brightly.
He never saw his grandparents in his previous life thus he spent a lot of time with Su Bing and Su Yan.
As for his maternal grandparents, he never heard of them.
“What were you thinking about?” Su Yan asked.
“I was just looking at what shape the clouds made.” Su An lied.
Su Yan saw through this and sighed.
“The elders suddenly decided to make you do your awakening in two days because of your intelligence.”
Su An said nothing and nodded.
He was still thinking about not wanting to be the apex.
Su Yan pretended not to notice and explained.
“Do you know why your cousin said the test was like hell and it hurts a lot?”
Su An shook his head while thinking it would be easy due to his physical strength.
“It uses your greatest weakness.” Su Yan explained, “You only pass if you surpass it.”
Su An’s eyelid suddenly twitched as he hid his inner turmoil. He was too shocked to notice Su Yan had vanished.
“Mama…” He mumbled in English somewhat like a zombie. He completely forgot about not to speak in English.
Su Yan perked his ears finally gaining a piece of a puzzle.
Su An’s eyes watered while the system did nothing as it clearly knew how deep Su An’s love was to his mother in his past life.
Asking him to forget was like telling a fish to forget how to swim.
Su Yan made a barrier that no one except Su Bing could see and enter.
Su An whimpered.
“Why?… Why did I have to die?…” Su An realised he began to cry and snapped his head left and right only to see no one.
“Alone?” He suddenly felt a feeling that pricked his heart explode.
“Mama must have been alone when I died…” He sniffed as he wiped his tears only for them to continue. His white robes were tainted with his tears.
“If only… I tried to move at that time.” Su An stomped his foot in frustration.
“If only… I…” Su An cried in between, “didn’t die.”
“I want to see mama again.”
“I want to see her!” He cried.
“It’s all because that dumb bastard that I can’t see them even I reach the top! Because of him, all the souls that reached the yellow springs were reduced to nothing. It’s all his fault, his fault…” Su An kept crying. “If it were for him, even with the time difference there….”
“I want to see Samuel, Kane, those idiot brothers again!”
He kept crying and spilled everything out, unaware of Su Yan’s presence, including that fact he was a girl.
“I hate you system! Why do have to make me cultivate and be overpowered in everything when cultivation is endless?!” Su An eventually sniffed as his tears stopped.
His eyes were too puffy and he closed his eyes. His last thought was, ‘Why can’t anyone save me from this?’
Soon he sat and fell asleep on the grass.
“…” Su Yan stood still with his head lowered.
His mind was occupied with Su An’s cries.
“No wonder…”
He held his head as he looked at Su An, “If he can’t survive this, then how will he even pass the test?…”
“And that system… Why did it bound itself to An’er?… So many questions…” Su Yan said with a sigh as he picked up Su An and looked at the sky, “yet little compared to the answers.”
The system once again did not respond.
As said prior, Su An would never forget his past life, he could never put his past behind but he could put some of it.
The system hoped Su An would use this outburst to help himself tomorrow.
After all, knowing Su An, if his mother would appear tomorrow, he would rage at the fact they used her to defeat him.
A fake.
He would explode and possible destroy the residence.
But he would pass at the moment he would get angry and Su Yan and Su Bing would stop his anger.
By then, Su An would have gotten better.
This is what the system hoped thus it did nothing.
After hearing Su An’s complaints and knowing his mental health, it decided to use tomorrow as an opportunity to make Su An less overpowered and slowly become overpowered.
It didn’t want to be cursed again and have it’s host break down.
It’s host had to become stronger and it didn’t care if it’s host hated him.
Su Yan sighed as he felt Su An cling on him, not letting him go.
“The worst part… I might never have a great-grandchild…” He muttered.
“Hmm?” Su Bing bears as she saw Su Yan.
“Once a girl.” Su Yan smiled wryly.
“…” Su Bing pursed her lips in defeat and looked at Su An who’s eyes were puffy from crying.
“He suffered too much.” Su Yan said as he decided to let Su An cling onto him until he let go.
“He might turn into a narcissist as well.” Su Yan added before he walked away as Su Bing also planned to go into seclusion.
“Ha…”
Su Yan sat down on his chair as he held Su An who was hugging his chest like a koala.
He heard a knock and the door and knew who it was.
“Come in…” He said heavily.
“Fathe-” Su Cheng widened his eyes at the scene he saw.
“Come here and try to take An’er off me.” Su Yan said after getting an idea.
Su Cheng succeeded in taking Su An off only for Su An to do the same action he had done to Su Cheng.
“Is this why father called me?” Su Cheng asked.
“No. There’s a high chance Su An might not pass the test and not awaken tomorrow. We can only gamble that he learns from what just happened. Either he knows their fake and passes or he wants to stay engrossed in the illusion because he misses them too much.” Su Yan explained before dismissing him.
Su Cheng looked at Su An and sighed.
He traced Su An’s cheeks before he left to do his work.
“It doesn’t matter what happened, we’ll always be here for you, An’er.” Su Cheng whispered softly.
