In the blink of an eye, two years have been passed. In these two years, the great clans started wiping off the remnants of the imperial family. The anger in public was very heavy ever since the news of Celestial Tribulation passed.

No one wants to be ruled by a family which is hated by the Heavens. The public anger further increased when the ‘dirty secrets’ of the imperial family were brought in light. The crown prince who has survived the incident was publicly executed for abusing his authority and powers. Crime such as snatching other’s wife, raping his subordinates’ daughter, corruption, etc were listed out during execution.

Lin Li, Zhen Han, and Zhen Ling took asylum in the Lin Clan after the incident in the imperial city. Lin Clan is one of the nine great clans of the empire which made it both safe and dangerous place. A month later, Zhen Han’s father Zhen Ming joined them in the asylum.

Zhen Ling publicly declared he and his descendants have no right to the imperial throne. According to the outsiders, Lin Clan gave them asylum as Lin Li’s father Lin Feng is one of the great elders of the Lin Clan. He couldn’t let his daughter suffer.

Then there was public support from Lin Li’s elder brother, Lin Zheng, as well. Lin Zheng is the shining star of Lin clan! He has achieved Divine Sea realm at a young age of 150! His brotherly love for his younger sister is well known. In the younger days, he has slapped an imperial prince because he dared to harass his sister! Not to mention he is known as Blackheart Lin and Lin – The Scamster.

This was what public believed. In truth, it was a mixture of two stuff. One was the support of Lin Feng and Lin Zheng.

But the other stuff was benefit!

In a large clan, benefits come foremost. The true reason they gave them the asylum was because they could use a Divine Manifestation expert like Zhen Ling to their use. Even in Lin Clan, there were only fifty to sixty Divine Manifestation experts.

Plus in the future, Lin Clan can use the Zhen family members as political slaves. On outside they were given freedom but Zhen Ling knew the truth. But he knew it was far better than being on run.

After two years, Zhen Han turned into five. On Endless Continent, people start cultivation at the age of five. It is considered as a suitable age for cultivation given the body is enough developed to bear the load of cultivation.

The cultivation realms known in Endless Continent are Awakening, Blood Transformation, Golden Body, Divine Sea, Dao Awakening, Divine Manifestation, Divine King, World King, Empyrean and Dao Ancestor.

Awakening is the first but most important cultivation step. It judges the potential of a mortal to turn into a cultivator.

Awakening in simple words means forming spiritual veins in the body which can allow one to absorb the spiritual energy of heaven and earth. One can then use the spiritual energy to use cast spells, refine their flesh and blood, increase their longevity, etc. Awakening also involves forming the ‘Dantian’ in one’s body. In its literal meaning, the word ‘dantian’ means a ‘field of energy’. One can say it is almost like a new organ, very small in physical dimension but its capacity to hold energy is very large.

There are total three dantian one can form: lower dantian, middle dantian, and upper dantian. Lower dantian is below the navel; middle dantian is at the level of the heart; upper dantian is at the forehead between the eyebrows.

The Awakening realm involves establishing of lower dantian. The middle dantian is established in Blood Transformation realm while the upper dantian is established in Divine Sea realm.

“People from Lin Clan would be there to witness your Awakening ceremony tomorrow. Your target is forming the spiritual veins in your body as per as the cultivation method I gave you. The formation of lower dantian is something which requires years so you don’t need to be worried about it,” Zhen Ling patiently explained to Zhen Han.

The formation of spiritual veins is usually done in a place with rich spiritual energy. Lin Clan has a pagoda dedicated to the Awakening ceremony where one forms the spiritual veins. For a heaven-blessed genius, the formation of spiritual veins would take 6-7 hours. The one with lower talent might take even days. As for those with no potential, even an entire lifetime would be useless.

The people send by the Lin Clan would only stay for a day at max. If they see Zhen Han has no potential then they would leave. What they want is genius and not some freeloader who would take away their resources.

“I understand,” Zhen Han politely said. Lin Li noticed her son was far too excited.

The next day, the entire family proceeded towards the Awakening Pagoda. It was a five-storied pagoda with a large spirit screen projection on the outside.

One can see the happenings of inside through the screen. This is how people of Lin clan and others would inspect over Zhen Han’s condition.

In the first level of Pagoda, one can form their spiritual veins. The other levels were not related to spiritual veins or lower dantian. Instead, they were focused more on auxiliary stuff such as the attribute, vein capacity, mental bearings and comprehension skills.

The formation of spiritual veins couldn’t be disturbed otherwise there might be a backlash. It was why no one other than the person undergoing the Awakening is allowed.

“The trash is finally here,” a mocking voice came welcomed Zhen Han and others when they reached Awakening Pagoda.

The speaker was a woman in a white robe. She has a mocking smile on her face as he spoke.

“Lin Yiruo, keep your mouth shut,” Lin Li was angered.

Lin Yiruo is her cousin with whom she shared a bad past. Lin Yiruo was accompanied by her father, Lin Ding. There were members of the younger generation of Lin Clan as well along with five great elders including Lin Feng. In total, there were twenty people sent by Lin Clan for the Awakening Ceremony.

“Why? Did I say anything wrong? Your son is a remnant of imperial Zhen family. A trash who is littering my Lin clan,” Lin Yiruo continued to mock further.

“How dare you!” Lin Li wanted to hit her badly.

Zhen Ming stopped her by reminding her of their current predicament. In Skyrise Empire, a woman is not considered a part of her birth clan after marriage. While the woman retains her surname after marriage, she loses all her rights on her birth clan.

“See? Your husband knows his son is a trash. But then again the father of a trash is a trash itself,” Lin Yiruo continued to mock.

She has a grudge against her cousin. Now that imperial family has fallen in power she would love nothing more than hitting the person when he is down. Before she couldn’t mock her seeing the standing Lin Li has after marrying into the imperial family.

But in the present? Lin Li was nothing but a stray cat seeking asylum for her young child. She has lost her protection after the incident in the imperial city.

“It’s funny how you trash wants to dirty my clan. We were already magnanimous when we allow you to stay but you even shamelessly ask for cultivation resources. It is no wonder the heavens destroyed the imperial family though they forgot a trash like your son.”
