Affinity:Chaos - Chapter 1586: Attempted Recruitment
In the trees.
Grey looked on as the man moved closer to him, he couldn’t help but grin in delight. The Necromancer didn’t even hide his intent to kill as he moved close to Grey, brandishing his strongest weapon at the moment’s notice. If he were up against anyone else, then he would’ve been able to take them down without any hassle, but against Grey, it was not going to be easy.
‘It’ll be difficult since he’s in the Mid stages, but if I can catch him unaware and take out the puppet, I should be able to deal with him.’ Grey thought.
He knew it was harder to cut the link of those with higher cultivation stages. Their mental energy is far stronger than his own, so they could at least put up a good fight against him. Once they notice it’s him, he would be in serious danger.
In the entire world, Grey is the only one known to have such an ability, so if he isn’t certain he can kill this man, he didn’t want to take the risk. However, he was very confident in dealing with this man. All he needed to do was ensure the man didn’t have the chance to catch a breath after he cut off the link between him and the puppet. As long as he does that successfully, the man would be killed within a very short time.
Grey didn’t cut off the link as soon as the man approached him, instead, he looked at the man rather curiously.
“It’s you?” The Necromancer knew who Grey was and didn’t expect to see him here.
“Were you expecting someone else?” Grey asked.
“Looks like the Seventh Prince is trying to work with the Second Prince.” The Necromancer didn’t seem bothered about this, “That kid hasn’t dared to make any serious moves all this while, if my guess is correct, you’re the one instigating him, correct?”
Grey shrugged, opting not to reply.
“I don’t like killing fellow Necromancers, so I’ll say this, join us and leave those fools. Neither of them can help you achieve what you want.” The Necromancer said, he added, “You should know that those aligned with any of the losing Princes will have very low status across this world. You know the First Prince is the one with the highest chance of becoming Emperor.”
“The Second Prince has a good shot from what I’ve heard. And given my Prince’s talent, he will be the one within a year or two.” Grey replied coolly.
To be honest, he didn’t expect the man to start recruiting him the second he saw him.
The Necromancer’s puppet was still by his side, but it was evident that he was more relaxed seeing Grey. Grey was only in the First stage of the Sovereign Plane, there was no way he could compete with someone like him.
“I have to give it to you, the Seventh Prince does indeed have a high ceiling, but in this world, a dead talent is useless.” The Necromancer’s eyes turned cold, the meaning of his words was clear; If the Seventh Prince is killed, no one would want to fight with the First Prince even if they know he’s the culprit.
Grey wasn’t phased by the threat, he has heard this countless times.
“I wonder what the First Prince will do if he loses you.” Grey commented offhandedly.
The Necromancer looked at Grey amused, he almost couldn’t believe Grey said something like this. He soon burst out laughing.
“Haha, you’re just as deluded as the Seventh Prince. He thinks he has a shot at the throne, and now even his servant thinks he has a chance against me.” The Necromancer couldn’t contain his laughter.
“You see, there’s a difference between you and I, and I’ll get to it shortly.” Grey suddenly vanished.
But the Necromancer didn’t seem impressed, his puppet stretched forth its palm and Grey was forced out of the void.
“Hehe, you think because you have the space element you’re invincible?” The Necromancer scoffed, he pointed at his puppet and said, “This is one of the top Space Elementalists in the Aurora Continent in this stage before I killed him and made him my puppet.”
Grey’s eyes turned serious, he knew the puppet was a Space Elementalist, but he didn’t expect it to have this high of a control on the space element.
He didn’t give up and moved once again, this time using his speed. But the puppet stopped him from moving once again, sealing him in a confined space. Grey was unable to make any move as he was forced to stay in the same region. This was almost like Void’s domain, just that in this case, it was a technique.
The Necromancer watched as Grey struggled to finally break free, a little shock appearing in his eyes when Grey broke free. He has kept Mid stage Sovereigns in this space confinement multiple times and only a handful has managed to break out from it. All of them were at least in the Fifth stage of the Sovereign Plane so it was somewhat understandable, but Grey was in the First stage which made it unbelievable.
Grey looked at the shock in the eyes of the Necromancer with a grin appearing on his face, “Did you think this is impossible?”
The Necromancer snorted and controlled the puppet to once again put Grey in a confined space.
Grey snickered and reacted quickly, his figure flashed and he appeared beside the puppet, the Necromancer on the other hand appeared inside the space confinement.
Grey cut off his link to the puppet at the same time, before entering the space confinement and attacking the Necromancer, shattering his core. Grey acted swiftly, switching places with the man and then cutting off the link while also charging back to attack all in the space of a second.
The Necromancer didn’t even have the time to comprehend what was happening before his core was shattered. The space confinement broke with the link destroyed.
