Affinity:Chaos - Chapter 1598: Smug Annoying Face
Reynolds was impressed with what the man didn’t. He didn’t think he would still have such a move hidden.
The Fourth Prince felt a little more motivated to go harder in the battle.
Their battle got even more heated and they started using more complex attacks that could cause serious damages. They were both going easy on each other, but with the man already putting his life on the line, the Prince felt holding back was disrespectful to the man so he went all out. Reynolds has no choice but to go all out as well. He couldn’t compete with the Prince when he’s using only part of his strength.
….
While the battle between the Fourth Prince and Grey’s friends got more heated, on Grey’s end, he was still entangled with the Old man.
The Old man sensed the ripples of battles from the side of the Fourth Prince, he also knew who had the secret technique that was used.
‘They’re in a dire situation. I need to help them soon.’
The Old man unleashed his full strength. He didn’t give Grey the time to adjust and bombarded him with attacks.
Grey has been waiting for this opportunity, without wasting any time he vanished and appeared behind the Old man. He attacked with his normal flames, and used his inscriptions as well.
The Old man didn’t expect Grey to use two types of attacks. He was already waiting for Grey using the space element, so he wasn’t too shocked by it. Nevertheless, the sudden spike in Grey’s fire elemental attack as well as the attacks from the inscriptions made him have a moment of hesitation.
He couldn’t block all three attacks simultaneously since Grey used two inscriptions. Grey’s personal attack was the strongest, so he naturally opted to block that one and try to evade the rest.
Unfortunately for him, things didn’t go as he planned. Grey had no plans with striking the Old man with his inscription attacks, rather, he wanted to merge the two attacks and create a makeshift fusion attack. The attack power might not be the same as a normal one, but he was sure it would rival that of his normal attack power.
The Old man never saw it coming, after blocking just one attack, he was left shocked when a powerful explosion happened behind him.
The force of the explosion sent him in Grey’s direction.
Grey smiled, clenched his fists and was prepared to take a punch, aiming for the head of the Old man. He wanted to kill him with a single strike.
The Old man sensed this and evaded the attack with everything he could. He took in the pain from his back and instead of flying harmlessly in Grey’s direction, he headed there with a powerful attack.
Grey’s smile froze and without hesitation, he retreated as quickly as he could.
Boom!
A powerful explosion occurred where Grey was previously standing. It was like the Old man was waiting for this chance.
Grey tried to escape, but the Old man closed the gap and attacked him. He didn’t care if getting too close to Grey would give Grey the chance to attack him with his explosive attack, rather, he took a gamble. And just as he predicted, Grey retreated.
With a simple turn, he didn’t continue going after Grey, rather, he faced the direction the Fourth Prince was fighting. Even if he dies, he has to make sure he protects the Prince to the best of his abilities, at least, he didn’t want to still be alive if the Prince would die in the end.
“Turning your back against me isn’t something I expected from you given your experience.” Grey moved forward and attacked.
However, it was as if the Old man had already concluded his fate as he didn’t bother to properly defend against the attack, he wanted to make sure he protected the Fourth Prince, and he would do just that.
Grey’s attack only propelled him further, closer to the Fourth Prince. Just when the Old man was starting to properly sense the aura of the Fourth Prince, Grey appeared in front of him.
“I’m not someone who likes making things hard for my friends.” Grey stopped the man from taking another step forward.
The man stopped and looked at Grey. He spat out some blood before wiping the side of his mouth. The attacks he took were too strong, and since he didn’t defend against them properly, Grey’s attacks were able to shake his innards.
The Old man looked at Grey, “You really want to go down this path?” He asked calmly.
“I’d have it no other way.” Grey said with a smile.
“You brought this upon yourself.” The Old man turned serious and his expression changed. The cloud turned dark, and the sound of thunder roaring in the skies could be heard.
Grey noticed this had something to do with the Old man.
‘Crap! Void, bunny, seal this thing here.’ Grey contacted both Void and the bunny leader. He didn’t want others to sense the battle, and whatever the Old man was doing could attract people here.
Void and the bunny leader appeared silently and left just as quietly as they appeared. The Old man didn’t even notice them.
….
On Klaus and Reynolds’ side.
The four people noticed the change in the weather, as well as sensing the aura of two people.
Klaus and Reynolds could tell Grey’s aura from a mile away.
“No wonder you’re stalling, so you truly are waiting for support.” Klaus commented while taking an attack from the injured Gnome’s puppet.
“Who could force Old man Kerr to this extent. He’s going to need at least a year to recover from this.” The Fourth Prince never expected anyone among the group of four to be able to hold Old man Kerr back.
“You’re dead. Once he finishes off your friends, you two are next. I’ll make sure your deaths are memorable.” The Fourth Prince became a little confident.
“You see, smug annoying face.”
